IamDebola: Fine geh..WTF DID I JUST WATCH?!!!! SO THIS RANDOM POST DIDNT STEAL YOUR ATTENTION ENOUGH TO CARRY ON WITH CONVERSATION ABOUT A CHILDS HAIR PROBLEMS?!!! LOL! |
eagle, eye:I modified my post before you posted this. I totally agree with you! I thought I was even speaking out of line. Thank you! |
dryakson: kinda stingy but I was not expecting any kobo before we did everything it on phone@dryakson, After all your alleged "good will" and the kind praises you just received I honestly cannot believe you agreed to a comment which referred to the man as "stingy" and eventually called him stingy yourself. You did a supposedly kind thing, that goes without question, but you honestly have no idea how hard it was for the man to find that money in the first place, or, God forbid, if that money is a little contribution for some serious health problem his wife is going through back in Nigeria and they are still looking for more for the expensive care. If he told you, would you even have accepted to take the "stingy 20,000" he gave you?! Forgive my poor judgement, but, the way you even titled this post, looks like you were simply fishing for some moral justification that you did the right thing or as if you wanted to know if that amount rewarded to you was worth the trouble or not. I may be wrong. You said it yourself, "I was not expecting any kobo" and yet you got kobos, and still said he was "kinda stingy". Damn. It just makes me think you only returned that money out of pure, cowardly fear and not because you truly knew it was the right thing to do. Still, all said and done, your 'kind' action may have been a good thing but, YOU NEED TO BE MORE GRATEFUL! |
You should see the making of Harry Potter... |
@50calibre, from that routine I take it you dont train legs at all. no? |
Nep2une: Again I am an ectomorph and I have skinny thighs will leg day once a week be sufficientYes, if you hit them hard with squats and deadlift using heavy weight and maintaining great form. If you dont see enough progress and decide to go twice a week, then I suggest you spread them out for instance on 1st day you can do squats, leg press and calve raises on 2nd day you can focus on deadlifts and other isolation exercises for the hamstrings and inner quads using the appropriate machines. |
@prof D Seeing you have decided not to reply any of my posts and the last question I asked you... |
Omo_Alata: I don't follow the eating 6-7 times a day and I am in a very good shape. I don't believe in one rule fits all, you have to find what works well for your lifestyle. Portion control is the key. Every athletes struggle with diet, so commonTrue! its the same thing I learned too. We just have to know the basics and then proceed to find what works for us after trial and errors. simple! |
Professor D.:What are your current body stats? You on a bulk now? |
ojj: Nice one Bro.Well I am definitely sure you are NOT small if you asked me. LOL. But there is no point asking because I am sure, just like me, you would not believe me too... |
Omo_Alata: what type of program are you doing?By program what exactly are you asking? I cant go into full details on everything but if i think its what you mean, I go to the gym 3-4 times a week working different muscle groups on different days. Currently on a bulk program so i do very little cardio, max 10 minutes on the treadmill. I use heaviest weight for fewer reps and more appropriate reps (with good form) for 3 sets of 8-12 reps but that depends on the type of exercise too. I do not train to failure on all exercise only on particular ones like preacher curls with EZ bar to name a few and i use drop sets for Dumbbell curls in some work out sessions. |
Omo_Alata: I am happy to challenge you. To get the ideal body that you want, it requires a lot of hard work and sweat. I think it takes at least minimum one yr. Rome was not built in a dayIf thats you on your profile, well, damn! |
ikekings1: I think the guy is on steroids..LOOOOOOL. No offense, but usually, its only very small people who say everyone else with great progress is on steroids. Firstly the guy is completely shredded now, not even so much bigger. Google "steroids" and see the difference. |
Caprison: Am a slim guy..i inherited my slim nature from my dad and i dnt like ma slim nature..Av done alot of weight lift but i couldn't gain much muscle i desire....plz advice me on what to do......any fast and active supplement? If you are looking for what you call a "fast and active supplement" then you are one knock away from the guys who sell you steroids at your door. If you don't know what steroids are, basically, they make your body synthesize protein faster than it normally could. Protein is the building block of muscles in the body. YOU DO NOT WANT TO USE STEROIDS AT ALL You don't need it and I would strongly advice you to drop that "fast" or get-big-quick thought from your mind and go the natural way which is much slower but healthier. By going natural does NOT include the use of whey protein, creatine or any other type of food and vitamin supplements. So that being said, I was a slim guy like you once (though i am not as tall as I am 5'9inches-176cm) and thought i could never be bigger, I weighed 145 lbs (65 kg) or less but currently I weigh 190 lbs (86 kg) with about 12-15% body fat. In body building terms, you maybe what they refer to as a 'hard gainers' (ectomorphs) because it is hard to gain weight by eating but truth is hard gainers are at great advantage than other body types (mesomorphs and endomorphs). Lol. You may need to google some of these terms to understand more of what I am talking about. As a guy, I HATED being skinny, yes I had abs that popped out boldly but those are what i call hunger abs. My body was starving of quality man meat and muscles. To get bigger, you must know there is nothing like i inherited "slim genes" from my parents so I cannot be bigger. The rule is simple, eat more calories than your body would normally need, shock your body with constant weight training, sleep well and you would grow. Now as simple as that sounds, you will need to read and know a lot of stuff that has to do with nutrition and the gym to be fully equipped. Firstly, you will need to learn how to bulk(get bigger) and minimize fat. In my case, when i started out, I didn't care. I preferred to be bigger and fatter rather than being skinny at all but of course, on the way of doing it, I learned better how to simply get bigger by building muscle mass and accepting the fact that IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET BIGGER (BULK) AND GAIN MUSCLE MASS WITHOUT GAINING FAT. Basically, to gain weight, you will need to eat about 18-20 times your current body weight in calories everyday. So, assuming you weigh 145lbs now, you will need to consume about 2700 calories of food till you notice an increase in your weight then you increase the amount again. Many Nigerians I have spoken to always tell me that they eat and eat and eat and yet they don't gain weight. Truth is they actually think they eat enough food but they don't. Nigerians are not in the habit of knowing what they eat or counting calories. You just have to learn how to. Firstly you must learn how much you need to eat and then spread it out through out the day into 5 or 6 meals in order to keep your body expecting food. I eat 6 times a day (every 3 hours). I am currently bulking to get a little bigger and eat about 3500-3600 calories a day and out of that about 250-300grams of protein a day which i particularly get from chicken breast(boiled) and my optimum nutrition whey protein. Calories are important as well as protein, carbohydrates and yes, fat too. The general rule (although there are many conflicting research result in books and internet sources) is that to build muscle your body needs at least between 1g-1.5g per pound of body weight to build muscle. So for instance if you weigh 145lbs, in your total daily caloric intake must include about 145-217g of protein. Must! Then of course you need to 'shock' your body to get bigger and that is where the gym comes into play. When you lift weights, you tear your muscles and after recovery, they grow bigger with the help of proteins. Understand that, and you will understand how to get bigger. So its that simple, the heavier you lift, the more your body would need to adapt to that weight and the only way it can do this is to get bigger. The more you constantly shock it by lifting the bigger it grows. It is important you learn the names of all the major body muscles and you will also learn to have a routine of exercises you follow in the gym for instance particular days you will need to build the various mass muscle groups, biceps, triceps, deltoids, pectorals, abdominals, back, hamstrings, quads, calves, etc. My three most important to look big are my biceps, pecs and quads. Abs to me are less important when I am bulking but more important when i am cutting down. LEGS! LEGS! LEGS! Very important. Alongside bench-pressing and curls, You must squat and deadlift! (Google this if you want an idea). These are recommended mass body building exercises for any beginner who wants to grow fast. Grow your legs and do NOT end up looking like some guys in the gym with big upper bodies and absolutely no legs at all! Leg days are my most important days in the gym. Sleep. YOU NEED TO SLEEP WELL for your muscles to recover fully so you can tear them again in the gym. lol. Yes during the day or just taking a simple rest your body is still acting to damage torn muscle tissues but this action is fastest when you are at sleep. I would definitely not go into the scientific brouhaha of explaining how this happens. its the basics you need to know. Anyways, this is supposed to be basic explanation but there is much more to everything i mentioned above. You just have to read(I know, Nigerians don't like to read, but if you really want something, you just have to gain knowledge of how to do it right) and then practice what you read. You will see results if you do. There are many materials on the internet that teach you the ABC's of getting bigger you just have to pick one and follow it through. If it does not work for you according to your lifestyle (work schedule, budgets, etc) then pick another one suitable for you and work towards it. I am more than happy to recommend to you the book i used by Anthony Ellis -The secrets to gaining muscle mass fast. It has all the info you need on nutrition and stuff even though you constantly need to check other materials from others and the internet and stuff and after a while I actually realized that the most these books can teach you are the basics and then most of your time its your own understanding of your own body's rules that you begin to design for yourself and follow. I am not a pro as I am only one year into being what i want to be and still learning and neither do i want to look or be like a muscle head-professional body builder but I know reasonably enough to answer one or two of your questions. My goal is simply to look better bigger(just never ever return to skinny!) and be stronger and fit. At first i didn't like the routine of eating and going to the gym but somewhere along the line, when you start seeing progress, I learned how to enjoy the routine and the gym. Now, I really like going to the gym just to see how stronger I am every time. I play other sports too. Number one rule, YOU MUST BADLY WANT IT TO FEEL MOTIVATED AND DISCIPLINED ENOUGH TO GET BIGGER. If not, the routine will shatter you and you will just be wasting your time. Finally, on a much lesser but related topic, I also wanted to throw this in as it may be something you too or anyone may encounter after a while of bodybuilding. Sometimes, I look in the mirror and i still feel I am small (skinny) even at 5'9-87kg. I am told of course I am big but personally I do not feel I am there. I don't know how many of you encounter this problem and I would like to get a feedback from any other body builder like me out there. Cheers! |
Omo_Alata: I have tried so many different brands of whey protein and still haven't found any that I like. I just gave up on it.Did you ever try Optimum Nutrition's whey protein? Its all i use. Its the best on the market. Dissolves perfectly. |
Professor D.:I have been looking forward to a thread like this finally. I am no expert in bodybuilding but I have been building muscle mass for over a year and been successful at it. I hated being skinny and that was fuel enough for me to push myself to grow, even though much later i started building for strength too not just to look better. We can exchange ideas and i could give u a pdfbook i used, followed all the rules and gained from. Firstly it is very important to do a lot of research and reading and then lots of trial and error with your own body till you get to understand how your body reacts to different food sources and different mass building exercises in the gym. Passion and motivation is important and very important to enjoy it while doing it and taking it one day at a time instead of rushing it. I like trading ideas too with other passionate builders and watching our progress (seeing gains). I don't know all but I am confident to say i have read a lot of building, nutrition and gym materials as well as watched many YouTube videos of it so I can help in answering one or two questions. I am trying hard to get myself to the position where i can help others like me (those guys who know being skinny is just not good looking at all and want to be not just better looking, but stronger and healthier) and be a motivation to them too. Note to many Nigerian dudes: Being ridiculously starved-skinny and having "6 packs" is like a fat chick having big tits. IT DOES NOT COUNT! |
HAHAHAHAHAHA. THIS CRACKED ME UP GOOD! wasak: #pours hot tea on my box# |
This is beautiful. Like something out of a Tim Burton... Only real this time. Genius. |
You guys are behaving as if before you get on a flight (or even bus) travelling in nigeria you too dont start thinking about deep life and death philosophical quotes... |
Why in the world would you insult the lady? Have you ever been put in a frustrated position like that before? Stop judging others if you really do not understand what they are going through. Clearly she is pissed and said that out of hurt whether she meant it or not. Your opinions honestly could not worth a damn to her right now anyways. |
If there is rice...why the f*** not?!!!! |
lira88: Dear Joaquin64, I hope you're still reading this topic. Thanks for creating it! it's been really helpful for those who are recently admitted in Turkiye Burslari.Congrats. Under the current Scholarship body (which changed quite recently late last year), I cannot be fully certain of the new rules and changes. There have been lots of changes since my time so I cannot give anyone a direct answer anymore. Nevertheless, I heard they are much stricter with their application rules but I have come across one or two people who have tried to change their departments and/or universities totally, and they were able to. I think it would depend on the university you get sent to. You are a postgraduate student so your choices are more flexible than undergraduates. Anyways, your best bet would be to talk directly to the Scholarship office for more information and feel free to ask them whatever you want. The administrators speak good english. You can reach them on +908504550982. Good luck. |
lrguru: Omo, which kind fairly used countries be this?Usually I only come on nairaland and read the comments and laugh without saying anything... but i just had to comment this time...that was funny as hell. I am still laughing. LOOOOOOOOOOOL! |

segun99: thanks man. you know experience is the best teacheR.As far as I know, with the scholarship board, these exams are not required and do not count in getting the scholarship but you may later need them (after being awarded the scholarship) in applying for schools that strictly require them (whether you are a private student or under the scholarship body does not matter) like METU, Ankara and Bogazici, Istanbul. BUT there is a new system of things now and so there may be new changes so I do NOT know. I am not updated anymore. Please try and get in touch with any of the awardees from this forum who recently got into Turkey (although so far, most I observed are Graduate students not undergraduates), or get in touch with the Scholarship board directly and get your information which you should know is no more the MEB in charge (Milli Egitim Basbakanligicik) and it is now the YTB (http://www.ytb.gov.tr/) in charge. Getting any information on these issues from me now is not to your advantage. For the sake of my privacy, sorry I cannot reply your final question. Cheers and Good luck. |
segun99: @joaquin64 pls i want to know if there is any international exam required to apply like TOEFL and sat or act. and in which school you studying nowIf you are an undergraduate and a private student. I would say SAT and TOEFL(Definitely) is required. But you need to contact the University you are interested in and get this information directly yourself if you said you are in Turkey. Not from me. I may be a bit outdated as to what procedures they use now. Sorry I can be of no much help, but these things you need to deal directly with the admissions department of the institution you wish to apply to. It is better that way. |
This information may come in very useful for those who are eager: http://adsafrica.com.au/scholarship.php |
