Hi, i just sent u a mail
opalu:
When you mix your Profession (Surveying) plus Passion (Graphic design) you would become a Hotcake.
For instance a Housing Development company like ours can give you a work to do both Surveying and Designing.
However you would be under a more experienced Surveyor who would teach you the basics. What I can tell you is that you condition your mind that you are not working for money because you are starting a PRACTICAL TRAINING. Mistake that most inexperienced jobseekers make is to be demanding for the salary of highly experienced professionals. Work to learn not work for money. Final advice:- Don't go back to the east until you have mastered your field in the city.

I know i would av to write surcon exam before becoming registered, and i wish to write although i am nt yet financially ok to take the exam.
Donpoker9:
You musnt really practice land surveying because for you to get registered you have to write a professional exam (I expect you to know that) but you can get a work over their in lag in construction, oil, offshore companies or even surveying firms.

Or you can simply enroll for your pupilage... Or continue your graphics work
Before i switched to graphics i had looked for survey firms in lagos to work with and all i get from those firms is, there is no much job here. For me to enrol for pupilage, wont i work under a surveyor?

CareerI Want To Switch Back To My Profession But I'm Confused. Help! by jobbitto(op): 2:32am On Feb 20, 2018
Hello guys, my name is Fabian, a graduate of surveying and geoinformatics, now a graphic designer. I have worked with many companies here in Lagos. Companies i have worked with. i got through this forum. Thanks to Nairaland.

I want to switch back to what i studied but i am confused. Last month i went for an interview on the island, after the interview, the HR of the company told me that he would advise me to go back to the east and practice my profession because surveying is very lucrative there. On that note, he didnt give me the job haven passed the interview.

The HR said he too studied surveying and he is regretting why he didnt practise but advices people who studied same to go practise.

Because of this, I am now thinking if maybe i am wasting my time in what i do since what i studied as he said is lucrative.

Please i need advise on what to do.

Mr. Seun, please help me. I really need your advise and the advise of others.

Thank you.

Thanks for that link bro, i just read through. Indeed, the former minister's quote was taken out of context.

shachris02:
Oh, he did save it. But the same governors lead by Rothiefi amaechi insisted that it's shared.

That's the context of Ngozi's statement.

PoliticsOkonjo-Iweala: I Said Governors, NOT Jonathan, Lacked The Political Will To Save by jobbitto(op): 7:42am On Dec 31, 2017
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former minister of finance, says her statement blaming the lack of political will to save funds under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan has been taken out of context.

Speaking on the Chilean saving example at the George Washington University on Thursday, the former minister had said “zero political will to save in the last administration” was responsible for some of the challenges facing the country.

But in a statement issued on Friday, Paul Nwabuikwu, media aide of the two-time minister, said Okonjo-Iweala was referring to the opposition of some governors to the efforts of the immediate past administration to save in the excess crude account (ECA) and in sovereign wealth fund (SWF).

“Some recent media reports have distorted comments made by former Finance Minister Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala regarding how lack of political will negatively impacted national savings over the past few years,” the statement read.

“Contrary to the slant given by these loud headlines, Dr Okonjo-Iweala did not indict the Jonathan administration in which she served.

“Rather, she was referring to what many Nigerians already know: the strong opposition by some governors to the Jonathan government’s efforts to save in the excess crude account and the sovereign wealth fund sabotaged this important national priority.

“The governors’ criticism of Dr Okonjo-Iweala’s many calls for the country to save for the rainy day is still fresh in the minds of Nigerians.

“It will be recalled that this opposition culminated in the governors taking the Jonathan government to the supreme court in furtherance of their position that the federal government had no right to ‘compel’ them to save.

“Several knowledgeable persons including former Anambra State Governor, Mr Peter Obi have confirmed these facts. So the issue of Okonjo-Iweala indicting the Jonathan administration over this very public issue simply does not arise.”

CareerConceive. Build. Sustain: How To Successfully Navigate The Triad by jobbitto(op): 5:32pm On Nov 21, 2017
Every entity begins as an idea. However, it takes more than idea conceptualisation to see that idea become a reality, for it to thrive. As easy conceiving an idea may seem to some, to sustain what you started over a period of time with the same gusto with which you started and an increasing, progressive outlook is another kettle of fish entirely.

Even if you have conceived the right business idea and you have all the capital you need or the repertoire of resources at your disposal, there are certain attitudes, skills and key factors essential to taking a business or project from infancy to maturity. The absence of these essentials is largely responsible for most grand ideas that never transit from birth to growth. You don’t want that to happen to you.

This month at Thrive Academy, we will be discussing the topic:
