Properties / Once You Rent That Shop by Jobexpert(m): 9:48am On Nov 11, 2013
Once you rent that shop, you must consider how to run it profitably.

Before You Do The POP
--------------------------
Consider installing network cables into the walls for your computer systems. If you do it now, it is cheaper and lasts longer. If you dont do it now, you will need it later.
Generally, you need
- a good network switch about N6k, and a roll of Cat 5 or 6 cables and RJ45 face plates, if its not conduit, you can use trunking. Note that you mustnt put electricity cables into the same conduit with network cables, but you can put into with DSTV and intercom wires

CCTV
------
There are now very cheap CCTV cameras that use networking cables. They are known as IP cameras. the advantage is that you can connect them via your computer easily and view them on the web with minimum costs.

PoS Computer Systems
--------------
These days you cant manage inventory and sales with a big book and biro, unless you want to stay awake every night & count every day, and shop staff know you cant ever do that. The solution is to get computer, software and point-of-sales accessories like scanner, receipt printer, cash drawer etc. Then count the stock into the software, and every week. Set your POS Computer system and make sure everybody collects a receipt before they leave the shop.

How?
-----
Get good staff & pay well.. set your CCTV cameras over your shop, and one should be at the check-out desk watching the POS Computer System and cash drawer..

Need more Advice?
Call us on 08033120866, or mail ajayi.kunle@gmail.com, we sell all these items and will install. count stock and train.

Insanity: @OP
What of this;
'To obtain a position in an organization with construction knowledge, high mechanical aptitude and commitment to safety, where i make effective contributions individually or within a team.'
Note- applying to a construction firm.

Why is obtaining a position your objective? Makes you sound a bit desperate. Also watch your grammar. What is "construction knowledge?".

Try dropping the objective completely. This is a construction firm, so I guess you are technical. For this employment type, blowing grammar no go work here, so cut to the chase. Have you got skills, experience? Highlight those instead. Include the machines and projects you have worked on as part of your cv, outlining the core roles you played, and the client's name. Attach a technical drawing to your cv. Do something different but highly relevant..
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Jobs Section Moderator Helpline: Your Comments & Complaints Here by Jobexpert(m): 6:58pm On Jun 27, 2013
Well I posted an ad asking people to consider a concept that could create jobs. Even though I sm a well known Nairalander
and regular OP, and the idea posted is very viable and reasonable, the mods
1) Permitted contributors to insult and use derogatory language on my person for no reason at all
2) Classed my post as potentially 419 simply because it requested a measly N8000 for training that others offer for much more
3) Hid my contacts signifying that they also disapproved of the idea despite the fact that they were supposed to be neutral.

I think this is grossly unfair, and I think I deserve better treatment than this esp given that I am not mates with most of the commentators. To call somebody Ole, thief is a grievious slander and defamation that is redressable for Nmillions in court. Not all innovators in the job sector are frauds, and every OP deserves his respect.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Why People Dont Get Jobs by Jobexpert(m): 2:59pm On Jun 26, 2013
Polchiz: Thank you for your efforts @ OP.
It should have been better if you have shown us a world-class CV sample so that we can see our mistakes.
I am of the opinion that once someone secures a job, he sees himself as an invincible person and considers others who are unemployed as empty brains.
I just can't see the difficult task in writing a good CV. Moreover, CV will not do the job. If I may ask, will you throw away the CV of an expert in clinical nutrition who applied for a position in a beverage producing company simply because he/she could not write a good CV? The fact still remains that we place much emphasis on unnecessary issues.
An array of good CVs carefully filed in an office contributes nothing to the profit making of the organization. Competent workers do.
Between 1999-2008, most banks usually come to ABU, Zaria to recruit her graduates with minimum of 2-1 who are willing to build a career in the banking industry. NB Plc used to do the same for microbiology, biochemistry and chemical engineering graduates.
Today, nobody cares because we produce much more graduates than employers need.

I agree with you. Pls do not feel that I am claiming to have a monopoly of knowledge. Am just speaking from the number of CVs that I as an employer have simply deleted or ignored, and why. I feel that the application is a first place to start. Others may be able to recognise a good professional from a bad application, I dont doubt their omniscience. i also feel that if you follow this thread, you will see that it is one of a series of solutions.. But generally, there is a problem of job scarcity, so why not put your best foot forward, starting from your email application?

Jobs/Vacancies / Why People Dont Get Jobs (part 4) - Trick Questions by Jobexpert(m): 12:35pm On May 28, 2013
When asked this question

Why do you want to work with us?

3 things are immediately obvious
1- The interviewer is intelligent and likes puzzles
2- If you answer this question wrong, you might lose this job
3- There is nothing you can do now to know the right answer
4- This question will lead to others and honesty is very important. Don't exaggerate

So the first thing is to
1- put up a good smile
2- spend a few seconds to compose yourself with a word like ..."well..."
3- talk briefly about what you expect from a good job
- professional experience, a chance to contribute to society, honest income, and the perks that can come from
working with a good firm
4- If you know the company and its competitors well..You can also add "Your firm has a reputation of being the best law firm in Nigeria, sir" or "Your firm fights for human rights, sir, which aligns with my personal belief or goals" or
"XYZ has a reputation for training its telecomms engineers very well, sir. although the pay is generally lower than Airtel and Etisalat, I think I will ultimately do better here"

Like I said earlier, your character, background, goals in life, values and fact-levels are actually being tested in this question..so just relax and enjoy it.

Never say
1- I dont know, sir
2- My Uncle is the chairman's friend.
(A relation of mine who answered this way at the interview with Pepsi actually got the job, but never enjoyed it and when the chairman's term expired, he had to leave as well. The then chairman wasn't very happy with him on this answer because he actually was the best of the lot that were interviewed and could have entered Pepsi on merit)
3- I got the Invitation letter for the interview and I came, sir.
4- flatterring words that are untrue, or tell lies

Cheers

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Filled: IT Security/ceh Professionals by Jobexpert(m): 7:25pm On May 11, 2013
ifyalways: Interesting isn't it?

An IT firm into scam baiting must have atleast a solid website. I wonder why some of us don't ask questions.Must be the desperation to get a job, I dunno really undecided

A security expert in scam protection (not baiting) ought to know that putting your website email or address is your prerogative, and a public domain JOB advert like this on nairaland has the following disadvantages
a) You can get the email overloaded with unwanted mails and suffer bandwidth-related crashes
b) You can get your website hacked by an irate applicant like ifyalways or wellscon
c) The mails dont stop coming long after you have filled the vacancy, and you may have to scrap the box
d) If you simply wanted to sample availability of skills sets and recommend to another client, putting out your address might be premature

I think you should all exercise patience, and be a bit cautious in our utterances. I think its unfair that people on this thread can just open their mouths and accuse anybody that doesnt employ them of scam or fraud. I leave you all to your consciences. But dont forget that online comments are now acceptable in Nigerian courts as proof for libel and litigation...
