i have 3 vps for over almost a year now, still running.
- Visit aws(DOT)amazon(DOT)com and create an account
- Please use real information to register at the site, because u will be confirming your account using a valid credit card and they will also call you to confirm your number.
Note: u will be charged a dollar for confimation, the money might be refunded after confirmation.
Ensure to use the name and address registered with your credit card on the site, else the credit card/confirmation will not go through.
- Once u get the " identity verification is complete" message, click the “Continue to select your Support Plan” button.
- select Basic(free)
- after the congratulatory msg, click “Launch Management Console”
- select EC2(virtual servers in the cloud)
- choose location for your server, i use US WEST(N. CALIFORNIA)
- click the blue “Launch Instance” button
- chhose “Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 Base” or any version that suits, 64 or 32 bit and click select
- next is to chose an instance type, choose the one with "free tier eligible"
- click on “Review and Launch”
- scroll down, and click on LAUNCH
- ONCE u click on lauch a dialog box pops up, in the first box, select creat new key pair, and chose any name u want
- after typing a name, click on download key pair
- After downloading, click on LAUCH INSANCES
- After lauching, u should get a msg like "Your instances are now lauching, the following...... id36948e.....
- click on the code i.e id36948e
- once u click on that, u will be taking to a new page with instance state(running), status check(after some minutes it will change to 2/2 checks)
- once both are running and 2/2 checks, click on connect
- click on download remote desktop file
- after download, click on get password,
- remember the key pair u downloaded and gave it your choiced name? locate the key pair
- once u select the key pair, click on Decrypt password
- copy out your password and close
- now double click on the RDP file u downloaded, click on connect, input the password u copied and if ur network is ok, it will give u access to the vps.... just like your pc.
