Lets be honest with ourselves the team is overbloated with mostly average players. How many world class players can we boast of apart from Pogba,Herrera, Bailly and De gea . In my View,Most of the other players are supposed to feature on the bench. Meanwhile,Rashford,Martial and Lingard will need couple of years to mature.

We have a long way to go and Mou is not helping matters with some of the signings linked to us. For example why should we buy Eric Dier for £60m? Or How is Perisic( £48m )our best option for LW at 28?. I hope that the funds spent are not wasted at the end of the season.

Nawaoo.. How many world class have we bought in recent seasons? What was the turn out? How many world class players will Man Utd go for and they'll sell cheap to us? This same issue is what we discuss everyday. Madrid was holding out for outrageous sums for a bench warmer. Sometimes we the fans just want some glossy signings like we are in some football manager game where we cab buy Messi, Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic in our team. Have you considered the fact that some of the world class today where in fact nothing few seasons back. Look at Mbappe.. One season and we will now categorize him in world class worth in excess of 100 million pounds but when Martial was banging goals 2 seasons, assisting last season, he wasn't world class. Ferguson was winning titles with average joes. Assembling a team of mercenaries is not how you sustain a long term project. Mourinho is not looking at the short term which is obvious from the young 'non worldclass' players he's bringing in except maybe perisic who from what i feel is to challenge Martial as he's not willing to step up as he did when he came, he's looking at players who can win titles and dominate for years and wouldn't cost an arm and a leg to get considering the market rate of nowadays.

Crazy money, but United bid 40m for perisic, 45 million for Sanchez is not throwing away money, Liverpool got Salah for 45m after add ons for Christ sake. 45-50 for a sure success of a forward is not throwing away money. In every regard, if spending that on Sanchez is throwing away money, then any thing north of 35m for perisic is booting away money. Sanchez is a class player, and he did not say he won't play for us, the guy is a hardworking player, he only became recalcitrant at Arsenal because his teammates lack the winning mentality, while his manager is OK with mediocrity. For us it's different we are more ambitious than Arsenal and has the capacity to improve.Perisic is a good player no doubt but when you have the opportunity to get Sanchez instead for almost at the same price, you know who everyone would go for. A good bid will test Wenger's resolve considering he has just 12 months remaining in his current deal. Let me tell you any of Chelsea or man city that gets Sanchez, and gets their acts right, the league is done and dusted. Remember RVP bro

Yea i remember RVP, well let's just wait and see. From mourinho's post match conference yesterday, he indicated that we will not waste time anymore on unrealistic or difficult targets when there are options on ground. If United does bid and Sanchez decides to come that would be great but if Arsenal try to frustrate us then onto the next one. I just hope we get the right players for the right sums and not another waste of funds we've been engaged in in recent years.

Nobody is demanding Sanchez based on the outcome of the preseason. Sanchez will improve any team drastically, since mourinho said he needs 2 more signing, Sanchez should be one of them. If Sanchez and Lukaku give us 25 goals each then we are just 4 goals off last season total. Mata gets his 10 goals plus from others then we are heading in the right direction. We need at least 80-85 goals to win the league. We got 54 last season less than relegation-threatened Bournemouth, it's a poor return. With this team I don't see us cracking 70 league goals even if Lukaku score 30.

Sanchez will improve any 'GOOD' team because despite all he has done at Assnal,they are still a bunch of never-do-wells. I want him at united. Premier league proven and world class IMO but Mourinho said he will only get players that want to come and will also suit his style and he will not come cheap either. If you think the club likes to throw money around then we should have secured Morata and Perisic by now. We are careful with spending and from previous windows we don't spend crazy sums on two players in one window.

Okay..Okay guys we have to chill. Haba already demanding for Sanchez? It's our first preseason meatch. They all got together only 1 week ago and yes i think i started this martial argument forgetting completely we changed formation in the second half. Let us look forward to the next game. 3-5-2 may not be so bad afterall considering Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal have used it last season to considerable success. It may not be our mainstay formation but it is refreshing to see mourinho moving to the two striker at the front style. We were crying for that through some matches last season. This season with new players, more time together in preseason, we should come good and implement it at some points where teams sit too deep. And for the person who wanted to take a slight dig at Lindelof, he will come good. It wasn't easy when Vidic and Evra came too. Lindelof will break legs with heads.

If we had more people focused on scoring goals last season maybe we would not have ended up so low in the league. Zlatan has shown us that 1 scorer can't get you far in the league. We need more scorers, and prolific ones too. I have no problem with Martial's choice of shots in this game.

Okay maybe i am too biased in favor of Lukaku but i am just scared leaving 3 people at the back just so 2 fowards can be up top is risky.

Okay which means to the wings they go but then again they are not great from the wings either and a 3-5-2 formation is suspect even though it allows them get to play in their preferred area of the pitch.

With the dogged pursuit of Perisic and with Jose's comments after the game i suspect he sees Lukaku, Rashford and Martial as his strikers this season with Zlatan to come back by January.
Mata, Mikki, Lingard and Perisic would be the wingers.

He is too focused on scoring goals. I could tell from his body language loosing the number 9 shirt when Ibrahimovic came that he wanted to strike and not be a winger. I think Mourinho has seen that and doesn't want to upset him again this season shunting him to the wing were he's had his worst season with us. I guess thats why we saw a 2 man up top tonight. Well I'll be glad if we have 3 very good striking options but it seems Martial will be creating problems next season if he doesn't start as a striker. This formation would have helped but its vulnerable and unlike Mourinho.

While all that is true, Martial played as a striker alongside Lukaku. There wasn't much wing play in today's match. There are instances where he could have passed to Lukaku, but he chose to shoot. Missitaryan also missed some chances b4 he scored. Heck, Lindelof missed a wide open net and ballooned the ball into the stands... I guess that was why Mourinho told the female ESPN reporter that Lukaku played better than the people that scored even though he did not score.
He terrorized their defense but he was selfish. I think pairing Lukaku and Rashford will be way more productive than Martial. Rashidi was in god mode today.

I was suprised with the formation but it's still early days. I really wanted that Lukaku debut goal but never came. I don't think Mourinho will stick to this formation he is testing though.

He was not played as a winger in this match. He partnered Lukaku in attack and in my opinion he did ok, had a goal and an assist PLUS his touches were cleaner and quicker than Lukaku's.

Maybe a revert to 4-2-3-1 or another variation of 433 would see him perform better as a winger but really this team needs a specialist winger. Martial isn't.

That's why the manager is trying to get perisic in! A wingers job is simple...beat your man or 2 with your skill or pace in tight situations, attack and continuously move into the channels and float or whip in crosses for your strikers while offering any sort of protection to your full back! I don't know where martial thinks he is but united does not have time for any drama this season! Maybe a few months spent watching perisic from the bench would remind of what his duties are!

Truth is martial is just a pure 9 with the way he plays..Never a winger for me except he improves on his crossing game. Yea he can beat people from the wing, cut inside and wreck damage but the fact that there was not a single cross from him is worrying considering Lukaku is a big guy who from the little he played would bully those guys, control a good cross and score or at least use his head. With all those tall, strong players in the second half, we should have had upto 10 crosses and crushed them with 7 or 8 goals that thry won't dream of scoring two.

Nice work out for the lads! Key men were rash and lingaard surprisingly!

I was not happy with martials selfishness in the second half. The guy is so desperate to impress the manager and left Lukaku hanging many times in the second half. Good thing is Lukaku makes the runs behind the back line Ibrahimovic wasn't making last season so creates space for the others to do damage. In all the second team was more rusty than the first team but that is probably because the first team played more games together last season and its obvious from Rashford's and Lingard's performance in the first half.
