In his most recent column for Saturday Sun titled Press Clips, veteran Nigerian journalist Mike Awoyinfa chronicled Redeemed Pastor J.T. Kalejaiye’s explosive sermon last Sunday in which he appeared to be canvassing support for the APC Buhari-Osinbajo ticket come February 2015. In his message, Pastor Adeboye’s close confidant and touted to be among the favourites to one day take over Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG) predicted ‘there would be a pleasant surprise in 2015 elections’, telling congregants to ‘go and mark it’. Sounding angry with the way Nigeria is going, Pastor Kalejaiye, regional evangelist of RCCG fumed: “Of what use is my brother, my blood brother who is not going to move the nation forward? And you want me to vote for him because he is my brother? Don’t let us deceive ourselves.” “What are we saying? Let’s call a spade a spade, brethren. Things cannot continue this way. Corruption is the order of the day. You can steal and nothing will follow . That’s all… Brethren, if you don’t do something, something will do you. Wake up!” He continued, “We have to change our system… Who is a Christian? Who is a Muslim? When I was working somewhere, my boss was a Muslim. I enjoyed under him. My boss provoked me to study further. My boss was always after my welfare. It shall be well him wherever he is today. He is a Muslim. The soldier attached to me was with me for almost 15 years. I never knew he was a Muslim. The day he opened his mouth to say “Sir, I am Muslim,” I said “What? But you follow me to the camp. You do this, you do that.” He said that when it was time to pray he would pray. “Brethren, wake up! Who is a Christian? That somebody goes to church doesn’t make him a Christian. That somebody bears Christian name doesn’t make him a Christian. You are a Christian yet there is no employment for our youths. People who should be feeding their parents are still being fed by their parents. How many youths can get married today without the support of their parents financially ? During our own time, we did our wedding, we only called our parents to come and eat. Today, our children who are 35, we are still feeding them." It looks like the message of CHANGE is really spreading fast!

An explosion bedded in a football field has killed one person in Potiskum, Yobe State in north-east Nigeria, witnesses said. Residents of Potiskum told Channels Television that the explosion occurred at the Arikime Primary School playing ground and killed a sugar-cane vendor who was heading home after the day’s trading. They believe the planted bomb that went off around 6:30pm local time on Sunday was targeted at footballers using the playing ground. The bomber, according to witnesses, was aiming at killing early morning football players who often besiege the busy Arikime playing ground for early exercise only to be triggered prematurely by the sugar-cane seller. “The innocent wheelbarrow pusher runs into the embedded explosion leading to his death and I can assure you that the death toll this morning would have been much if not for the early trigger which claimed just one life,” a witness said. The bomb is believed to have been planted by members of the Boko Haram sect, who seem to be having field days in the troubled Potiskum town in the last quarter of this year. Suicide bombers have about two months ago killed Islamic faithful on procession. Two weeks later students of the Government Science Secondary School Potiskum were killed in their numbers by a bomber who gained access to the assembly ground of the school. Relevant authorities are yet to confirm the Sunday incident and no individual or group has claimed responsibility of the attack. Source: www.channelstv.com/2014/12/29/explosion-kills-one-yobe-state/

HAS JONATHAN’S PRESIDENCY BECOME IRRELEVANT? WORD OF THE LORD: “The Lord God of heaven has put a fire on the thrones of Nigeria that is waiting to consume those who come to the throne in self-will.” In 2010, under the unction of the Holy Spirit; I wrote these words about President Jonathan’s presidency: The Lord said clearly that the divine mandate he is giving to President Jonathan is to prepare the way for the David that he is bringing to seat on the throne of Nigeria. Jonathan is to lay the foundations that will lead to the emergence of this David. That is the divine mandate of God to him and we have a duty to watch over him in prayers to ensure that this agenda is not high-jacked or aborted. We have a duty to continue to pray so that the President will be focused on this prophetic mandate of God, because once he tries to exceed it his presidency will become irrelevant. I believe that is what happened to the former Nigerian President.” Yesterday (21-11-14) and for no reason at all, this quote started jumping out at me causing me to raise the question, whether Jonathan's presidency has become irrelevant to God. Being that my commitment to the Lord is to be His vessel and to share His word no matter how hard or unpleasant, I started tuning my antennae heavenwards. My initial impressions are best articulated in the words of Daniel to King Nebuchadnezzar when he was called to bring an unsavoury word to the king: “My Lord, the dream be to them that hate thee and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.” (Dan.4:19b) If I were bringing this word to the President, and somehow, I am placed in a position where I am to tell him the mood of heaven concerning his presidency, I will say exactly the same words to Him. How did the President get to this point? I articulated the mandate of God to President Jonathan in my book ‘IN THE MASTER’S PRESENCE.’ If you have the book please read pages 340 to 354. God called President Jonathan to lay a new foundation for Nigeria. This is why he is the President at the helm of affairs during Nigeria’s centenary when the colonial foundation on which the Nigerian nation was built ran its full course and expired. A person called to build a new foundation must judge corruption and wickedness. I am afraid the President has not done well in this area. The constitutional conference was a step in the right direction but does the President have the will to fight to implement its essential recommendations with all the hawks and self-centred people at the National Assembly? The President is also called to make room for the David that the Lord will use to rebuild Nigeria, but has he started praying to ask the Lord to show Him this David so that he can start working for his emergence. God raises leaders at different times in a nation’s history to address specific problems. Is it an accident that the President is leading the nation at a time of a global Islamic agenda to dominate the whole world? The Boko Haram insurgency must be situated in the context of a global Islamic agenda to dominate the world again and raise a caliphate that will rule the world the way Islam did with the Ottoman Empire. Islamic escatholgy teaches that a twelfth Iman (The Mahdi) will arise at the end times to lead Islam to world dominion. This aspect of Islamic escathology agrees with what the bible teaches about the end-time anti-Christ. All branches of Islam owe their allegiance to Islam and not to any state, and without understanding the spiritual under-tone of the conflict with Islam, the political leadership will never evolve the right strategy for dealing with the problem. For Islam to effectively fulfill this vision, it has to take hold of the whole rebellious forces birthed through Nimrod the first African monarch with the final opposition against God in view. Nigeria happens to be the nation with the largest number of blacks in the whole world, and so the nation is important to God and Satan. You see that in Nigeria, the number is evenly matched as rough estimate show that about half of Nigeria’s population are Christians with the other half as Moslems. It is not so in any other nation in the world and so Nigeria will be the theatre where these forces will clash. The Lord has sent His word ahead to us that Nigeria will be the burial ground for Islam. If the President does not see this larger picture, he will be scratching the surface and NEVER be able to evolve the rights strategy to deal with the problem. I restate the agenda that the lord set for the President between 2011 and 2015 as I outlined it in My book; ‘Nigeria has the opportunity to come back on track but for this to be a reality, there are five areas the leadership must focus on in order to succeed. The years 2011-2015 can be make or mar years for Nigeria. The five areas are: a. Foundation. b. Institution building. c. Global Trends. d. Strategic Alignments. e. The Second Coming of Christ. Could it be that the Lord is judging that the President has not measured up to standard in these areas? For example, why has the slump in oil prices taken us by surprise as if discerning people world-wide did not see the hand writing on the wall? Commenting on global trends, this is what I wrote in page 349 of my book as far back as 2010: “What are we doing about finding a viable alternative to oil? The oil industry is likely to change in the next few years with the discovery of shale oil in Israel… About 20 years ago shale oil was discovered in Israel but commercial exploitation was impossible because of the environmental issues involved and cost of refining. However, in the last few years two things have happened that changed the equation. Firstly, the price of oil has gone up significantly making exploration commercially viable. Secondly, an Israeli firm working in conjunction with an American company has developed a technology to refine oil shale underground thereby by-passing the environmental hazards associated with refining. If this project were to take off, Israel will become a major player in the oil industry in the world and this has enormous implications for the world economy especially Nigeria and other mono product economies. Are we seeing ahead and making plans?” It is a shame, that just four years after we published these words, the reality has dawned on us and in- spite of warnings we have been caught off-guard. Our government economists are predicting that oil prices will stabilize next year but this is a deception. Oil will take a further dip because nations like Israel that are preparing for war will soon become self-sufficient in oil and this will further bring down the price because nations like Russia will also like to sell at all costs and this will make the OPEC block irrelevant. I see the judgment hand of God coming on OPEC and if I were Nigeria’s leaders I will think seriously about pulling out from the unfruitful alliance before the hammer of God falls. Could it also be that this is the reason why OPEC has come into the hands of Nigeria and also into the hands of an iron lady that fits the biblical picture of a subtle woman? The greatest need of President Jonathan today is to have around him counsellors who will counsel him by the Spirit of God and I do not see many of such men around him. 2015 AND APC: Yesterday, General Buhari finally laid to rest the whole controversy over who will be his running mate by choosing a well-respected lawyer and Christian leader, Prof. Osinbajo to run with him. Some beloved brethren asked me my take on this and this is how I respond: The first question to ask in this situation is what is the Lord saying? Who among the leaders has God chosen and raised for this time? (See Dt.17:15). What I heard from the Lord is that His heart is set on David. I asked the Lord again concerning this David, and He told me specifically that the David He has for our nation will be an Igbo man from the eastern part of the country, specifically from Anambra State. He said that He will go back to the foundations, at the junction where Nigeria’s destiny was distorted through tribalism and pick a man from there and begin the journey again. This is the word I heard from the Lord. I am publishing it because the Lord said the same thing to different praying people including a prophet from the northern part of our nation. Gen. Buhari is a man of proven character and integrity. Prof. Osinbajo is amply qualified to be the Vice President of our nation. He will do well if given the opportunity. But they are not the ones the Lord is raising for our nation at this point. SO WHAT DO WE PRAY AND HOW DO WE PRAY: The prayer point the Holy Spirit has crystalized for me as I pray for the nation is simple: ‘Lord raise this David for us through whom you will rebuild our nation. Do whatever it takes to bring this David to the throne.’ As I pray this prayer, I see God’s fire on the throne of Nigeria. I believe we are entering the season where men will cheat, kill and do whatever they do to win elections but they will not be able to seat on the throne because the Lord has not called them. God’s purpose has gone beyond President Jonathan and Buhari. I see the President winning the election next year, but I doubt if he will be able to sit on the throne simply because the Lord is NOT inviting him afresh and he has not held meaningful conversations with the Lord on what he is to do. Does it mean that Christians should not vote? No. we must vote one way or the other. If you put President Jonathan and General Buhari side by side, I will choose Jonathan. But even as I am choosing him I have also made room in my heart for the intervention of God. I will not cry if the Lord starts shaking things, because I know that he is shaking with a redemptive purpose in mind. May your kingdom come O Lord and may your will be done concerning the throne of Nigeria. That is the right place to stand on this matter. In Christ, Messenger!!! There have been reports that delectable actress, Stella Damasus snatched Daniel Ademinokan from his pretty wife, Doris Simeon. But since then, the actress has kept a sealed lip over the allegations. She and Daniel have claimed what they have between them is strictly business. Both of them now live in the US and attend events together like lovers. However, in a recent interview with Golden Icons, Stella, a mother of two, finally confirmed having an affair with Daniel, a respected filmmaker and director. She also spoke on how she moved on after the death of her first husband, Jaiye Aboderin about 10 years ago and the real reason her second marriage crashed. On tying the knot with Jaiye Aboderin at the age of 21, Stella said: “I always wanted to start early. I always wanted to have children early. I wanted to have a marriage early. I wanted to grow with a family. I wanted to learn the inside of it, I didn’t want to wait and grow, and mature, and become big and famous then start to wonder ‘oh, will anyone marry me now’. “I didn’t want that to happen because at 16, I was already popular. I was making money, I was travelling. So at that point looking at my life, I said, ‘if I do this for another five, six or seven years, and I don’t start a family, it will become more difficult for me later on. And so, I decided if I find somebody who I love, who will love me back, we will go together. We will fight all the fight, make up, we will do whatever, but we will grow old together. And that’s what happened. “And I am happy I made that decision, because today, I have a 15 year old. I grew up with my children. When you see the three of us, and you see my daughters, you will think we are sisters. We talk as friends. So it was an important thing for me. To have a family, and have that…I needed something to check me. “We have a tendency to be crazy and do whatever we like because we could get away with anything, we could travel all over the world, we could get people to like us like this (snaps finger), we had money to throw around. “If I don’t have that family unit to check me, I don’t know what I would have become and I won’t lie about that.” She spoke about how she recovered after losing her dead husband. “They say time heals. I say, I have a different definition, I say time numbs. It is not something that heals, and then that’s it, it’s gone, it’s gone, No. This is someone you planned to spend the rest of your life with, and grow with. “We made plans, like every other couple. And when that happened…he died when I was 26 with two children. I just felt that my life had ended. So, but with time, this year, December 3rd will 10 years, one full decade. “So it is not healing, I won’t call it healing but I will say it numbs it and once in a while, it comes up and the pain is as fresh like yesterday but it is how you deal with it that matters. “And that’s what I have had to do for the past 10 years but I am very grateful for the family I have, for the people I have around me. For that, you need a lot of strength. God helped me through it all.” Stella also cleared the speculation that her movie ‘Widow’ was her true life experience. “’Widow’ is a true life story but not my story. The woman who I played lives with her children in the UK. I did Widow, months before my husband passed away. So I saw the lady that I played, so when the movie came out, the movie came out after my husband had died. “It didn’t come out before. So when it came out, everybody thought ‘oh that’s her story, she was telling her story’. It wasn’t my story. I wasn’t upset, I was actually grateful that I did such a great job that people believed that it was me. Because as at the time I was doing it, my husband was, in fact he was the one dropping me off on location. So it means I must have done a very good job for people to actual feel it and say oh that’s her story.” On her relationship with Daniel Ademinokan: “Let me put it this way. Let me help you hit the nail on the head. One of the comments I have seen consistently, over and over again, is ‘Stella snatches somebody’s husband’, ‘Stella the husband snatcher’, which is what has been going on. And I had sworn that I would never talk about it, or even listen or stress myself about this thing but I have decided to do this now, so that I end this once and for all. “First of all, let me paint a picture for you and you let me know what makes sense to you. When I looked up the word snatch or steal, ehh, let’s go to the dictionary. It means, forcefully taking something away from its original position; forcefully from its original position to another position; something that does not belong to you. That’s what I gathered from the word snatch or steal. So, I looked at me, Stella, and I wondered to myself, how is it possible to go to somebody’s home, and take a man, and take his son, away from his home and say follow me. You are a man, and according to their story, he is happily married inside his home. With his family complete and I walk into that home, to forcefully take a man, able bodied man, and a kid, away from somebody’s hand and you are there looking at me. How does that work? “Did they accuse me of using voodoo? Yes or no? They said no. Okay, did I put a gun on anybody’s head and remove somebody from somewhere? They said no. So logically, if people actually sit down and think about it intelligently, how do you snatch somebody from somebody and the person is there looking at you? “So, when you see a man who has settled ties with a woman and decides to move on with his life and you feel that there is something in this man that you like and he likes you. I am not a kid. I am 36 years old. I am not about to start hiding myself. I was waiting for somebody to actually ask me this question, because all I have heard for the past two, three years are rumours. “They said, blogs said, this said. Nobody has been bold enough to confront me and ask me. So I say, if I steal something from somebody, and the person is really the owner of the thing, you come and ask me, ‘you took something from me, give me back’. “But nobody was able to that. And I am like, ‘if I meet an able- bodied man that has left and moved on’. Source: 9javibes.com/gist/cares-sleep-50-men-nollywood-actress/

A WORD FOR PROFESSOR YEMI OSINBAJO I am glad that the APC eventually took my advice and saw the wisdom in not fielding a muslim/muslim ticket for the 2015 Presidential election even though I hear that, right up till the last minute, they almost did. I congratulate my friend and brother Professor Yemi Osinbajo on his nomination as the Vice Presidential candidate of the APC and running mate to General Muhammadu Buhari. I have known Yemi for a number of years and I must say that he is not only a very pleasant and civilised person with a warm and gentle disposition but he is also a cerebal lawyer with a brilliant mind. I have immense respect for him. Yet sadly ever since I heard about his nomination and announcement as Buhari's running mate I have felt nothing but sheer pity for him and a deep sense of pathos. My counsel and words for him are as follows: Woe unto the children of light that secretly delight in darkness and that seek to thwart the counsel of God for their nation by joining hands with the sons of Boko and the daughters of Haram. The bible says ''what fellowship is there between light and darkness?'' It says ''what does God have to do with Belial?'' It says ''what profiteth a man to gain the world and lose his soul?''. A respected Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, a devout and committed Christian and an intellectually-sound, well-bred and well educated Professor of Law accepts to be running mate to a closet fundamentalist, a bloodthirsty, cruel and murderous military dictator and a die-hard believer in the philosophy of ''born to rule''? This is serious. A gifted servant of God who is a favored spiritual son of Rev. Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God has jumped into bed with one of the most notorious troublers of the faith and one of the most consistent enemies of democracy and Nigeria? This is very sad. Rev. Enoch Adeboye is undoubtedly one of God's greatest and most respected generals on the planet and one of the Church's most humble and best-loved precious gems, yet one of his spiritual sons has surely let him, and indeed the Kingdom of God, down by choosing to play ''man Friday'' and second fiddle to an individual that represents everything that is troubling, unsettling and repugnant to the modern world and to the 21st century? What a tragedy. A learned Professor of Law and a senior member of the Nigerian bar who is the leading authority on the law of evidence and who has written numerous books on that topic chooses to play number two to a man that failed all his exams at military college and that never went to a decent school or to any university? Jumping Jehoshaphat. It is only in Nigeria that this sort of thing can happen. Poor Yemi. Look at what the Haramites have done to him and look at what they have reduced him to. Is there anything that these creatures from hell will not do? Is there anyone that they will not use and is there any norm that they will not defile, pervert, debase, violate and corrupt in their ignoble quest for power and as a consequence of their insatiable lusts and manifest greed? The truth is that each and everyone one of us, including my friend Yemi, will ultimately have to answer to God for the choices that we make and we must live with the consequences of those choices. It is no wonder that the Redeemed Christian Church of God has disassociated itself from a false claim that the Church and, by implication, Rev. Adegboye himself, was supporting the Buhari/Osinbajo ticket. Thankfully they have come out to say clearly and categorically that this is not so. One can always trust Adegboye to do and say the right thing because he is a man that is truly ''after God's heart''. Yet the denial of an endorsement and tacit support from his Church is just the first of many shockers and unwelcome surprises that Yemi will be served with in the next few weeks. He will get shock after shock and surprise after surprise until the battle is over and circumstances compel him to go back to his very lucrative legal practice. Yet before he does that he should learn a thing or two from one of his esteemed colleagues and yet another Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, the courageous Pastor Bosun Emmanuel. Bosun said the following words in his famous sermon titled 'The Nigerian Church' which went viral just a few months ago. He said, ''woe be unto any believer who joins hands with the enemies of God in an attempt to bury the Church and destroy the gospel''. This was a timely admonition and these are strong and wise words from a true servant of God who is under no illusion about what is going on in the politics of Nigeria and who is brave enough to say it as it is. Yet whether we choose to heed Bosun's words or not I am absolutely certain of one thing: those that have aligned with the servants of satan and the children of darkness and that seek to thwart God's counsel for our nation shall not prevail. Boko Haram abducted 185 women in Borno state on December 18th and they killed no less than 52 innocent people. Despite that some people are still supporting Buhari and his army of desperate Haramites? What a people, what a country. Those that say that Buhari has changed simply because he chose a Pastor as his running mate are ignorant. Did he not have a Pastor as his running mate in his last outing in 2011? Did he not still say that it was his intention to ''spread sharia throughout the country'' and that ''an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north''? Did he not oppose a state of emergency in the north eastern states and say that it was unfair for the military to kill Boko Haram members? Did he not say that instead of killing them they should forgive them, pamper them and treat them in the same way that the Niger Delta militants were treated? Did the spokesman of his party Alhaji Lai Mohammed not say that the proscription of Boko Haram by the Federal Government was ‘’unjust’’ and ‘’unconstitutio nal’’? How does the fact that Buhari has opted for a Christian running mate change any of these things? In any case he only opted for a Christian running mate because he was compelled to do so as a consequence of the hue and cry that the prospect of a muslim/muslim ticket had already started to generate. Are those that cite the fact that he has a Christian running mate as evidence of his new-found love for Christians aware of the fact that during the American civil war a small, ignorant, misguided and deluded group of negro slaves actually fought on the side of the southern confederate forces in an attempt to keep slavery in place? Did that suggest that the leaders of the southern confederate ‘’secession’’ states suddenly changed their minds and fell in love with the blacks that they had enslaved and treated like animals? Is Buhari's claim of not being partial to his own hausa-fulani tribe not a little far-fetched? Did he not lead a northern delegation to Alhaji Lam Adesina, the late Governor of Oyo state, just a few years ago when some Fulani herdsmen were slaughtering Yoruba farmers on their own land and ask him ‘’why are YOUR people killing MY people?’’ Apparently Buhari believed that the aggressors that had invaded the land and farms of others and that killed all the occupants had a right to do so simply because they were fulani. Yet some people still claim that the man is not a tribalist. Ignorance and lack of knowledge is a terrible affliction but in this context it is not only terrible but also very dangerous. Buhari’s choice of a Christian Pastor as his running mate means nothing and changes nothing about him or his entrenched views and ancient mindset. It rather provides clear evidence of his sheer desperation to win power at all costs and it is a reflection of his obvious and deep-seated deceit. Let the truth be told even though the heavens may fall: Christian Vice President or no Christian Vice President, Buhari's heart remains as dark as ever. We shall meet him in the field: let God's will be done. Source: Femi Fani-Kayode Facebook Page |

Leadership is one of those things that defines any great nation and Nigeria is one of those nations, which has always been infamous for their culture and few of the greatest leaders in the world. Goodluck Jonathan is one of those great born leaders produced by Nigeria in recent times, who has managed to captivate people in many different ways. With some of the best and worst decisions taken during his tenure as the president of Nigeria, it is very necessary to identify the most important facts about him, to get a closer look upon his leadership and him as a person. 20 Things To Note About President Goodluck Jonathan 1. Prior to his tenure as the President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan served as the 6th governor of Bayelsa State, Nigeria in the year 2005. 2. Goodluck Jonathan was born to a family of canoe makers in the land which is today known as the Bayelsa state of Nigeria. 3. Goodluck Jonathan holds a second class honors degree in Zoology, An MSc degree in Hydrobiology and a PhD degree in Zoology. 4. He entered politics in the year 1998, prior to which he worked as an Education officer, Lecturer and Environmental Protection Officer. 5. He was sworn in as the Vice President of Nigeria in the year 2010, upon the death of Umaru Yar’Adua’s death, which made him the fourteenth head of Republic Nigeria. 6. In the year 2010, he was the first Nigerian head to open his own Facebook page in an attempt to fulfill his promise to have a regular interaction with the common public, so that he is able to attend to their regular needs and disputes. 7. It was in the year 2010 that he formally announced his entry into politics, with his announcement of the Presidential Election through his Facebook page. 8. In the photograph above are Christian leaders from the North at the Press Conference including Bro. Adamu who miraculously survived a Boko Haram AK47 placed on his nose before it was fired. VOICE OF THE CHRISTIAN MARTYRS NIGERIA PRESS RELEASE LAI MOHAMMED AND PASTOR BOSUN’S CD Welcome, In reaction to the recent newspaper reports about a letter which was credited to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mr. Lai Mohammed as the spokesperson for a political party has been making disparaging remarks about Pastor Bosun and a message that the pastor delivered to a Christian community. We wish to express our dissatisfaction about the purported statements by Mr. Lai Mohammed which we consider misleading, unfair, and undemocratic. We condemn it as it is aimed at distracting well meaning Nigerians from the truth that would help build our nation. Serious issues that affect Nigeria were revealed in the message and the Pastor has the right to express his apprehension about issues that affect Christianity, more so, considering the lethal persecution of Christians in the northern parts of the country. Christians needs no instructions from Lai Mohammed on how reasonable people should cast their votes. Nigeria of today is supposed to be a democratic state that guarantees freedom of expression, free thinking and belief, a free country where people have the right to say YES to their fellow men or even No to God. If the All Progressive Congress is truly a democratic party, it should never be afraid of an individual’s opinion. Nobody stops the movement of the winds. The Nigerian constitution guarantees every citizens right to believe what they want to belief in and join any political party of their choice, nobody should be hunted or persecuted because of what they belief in or not. Mr. Lai Mohammed is not the spokesperson of Pastor Adeboye and he does not have the right to come out and tell Christians what Pastor Adeboye has to say about the free speech of Pastor Bosun Emmanuel. With due respect to Pastor Adeboye, I believe he has a platform where he addresses the members of his denomination. Mr. Lai should steer clear of Christian affairs. If Pastor Adeboye wants to pass instructions to members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mr. Lai Mohammed should not be the messenger. We have enough of Christian blood being shed on daily basis across the Northern Nigeria. We respect Pastor Adeboye, a profound Christian leader, whose messages have changed many lives and brought hope to millions of people around the world. Lai statement on statements credited to Pastor Adeboye does not hold in a free country where all men stands for freedom of conscience and justice. However, we want to state that Nigerian Christians are citizens of Nigeria just like their Muslim counterparts. Nobody should use partisan politics to divide the body of Christ that has suffered so much in this country. If Lai Mohammed wants Christians to vote for his political party then, APC should go back to its drawing board and create a proper balance in the party. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and many other reasonable and well meaning Nigerians have suggested this. The party should create a political platform that takes into consideration all the various groups in the nation rather than drag the church into its political mud. Currently in the South West, 100% of APC governors are Muslims. All the governors of APC in Yorubaland are Muslims. So, how does Mr. Lai Mohammed want such a party to be described? Is that an all inclusive party or what is it? How does Mr. Lai Mohammed want to describe a party which at its inception, nearly all its national principal officers belong to only one religion? Is that a balanced and all inclusive party? On the alleged insinuation that Pastor Bosun’s message is capable of inciting the Christians against Muslims, Mr. Lai Mohammed is being economical with the truth. On the contrary, he is the person seeking to incite Muslims against the Christians. We suggest that he should go and listen again to the message. If the CD was meant to incite anybody, Nigerian Christians should have been on the streets by now. That message was calling Christians to prayers and revival of the church. Worldwide, the church advocates peace and not war. We also acknowledge that there are moderate Muslims, particularly in the South West, who are willing to practice their religion and allow other people freedom of religious belief. On the contrary, it is the Islamic fundamentalists that have been on rampage in Syria, Iraq, Kenya, Sudan, Somalia, and in northern Nigeria. These are the group of people cutting off people’s heads, amputating hands, beheading little children, wiping out entire families and carrying out genocide and using destructive weapons to cause sorrow and unimaginable hardship for peace loving people. It is the Islamic extremists that are responsible for the insecurity in the nation and they are the cause of the apprehension. I challenge Lai to rise as a good Muslim, including his party, to put an end to this carnage ravaging the Nigerian nation, rather than raising issues with a godly pastor like Bosun Emmanuel, whom I know can never be purchased to be mischievous. Christian and Moslem leaders have equal right to contest or follow political parties of their choice as equal citizen of Nigeria. If Christians are concerned about the structure of any political party, they have the right to raise the apprehension. Again, I will emphasize, Pastor Bosun cannot be said to be wrong in his assessment of APC, because a former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, also recently cautioned APC about its strong Islamic posture. APC and Lai Mohammed should go and take corrective measures and reassure Nigerians that they are not seeking to creative a party for the Islamic Brotherhood in Nigeria. Nigeria is a multi- religious and multi-cultural nation. Every serious minded political party must strive to reflect the various diversities in the nation if it wants a broad based support. CHIBOK GIRLS More than 200 girls abducted from Chibok are still in captivity and all our leaders are not doing enough to secure their freedom. This is condemnable around the world. We join the world to condemn this unpatriotic inaction too. Our leaders should stop creating state of chaos to advance their religious and political agenda. We have no other country to call our own than Nigeria. The Government and the oppositions must please wake up and act NOW. Those canvassing for truce with terrorists must equally be terrorists. Weapons worth millions of Naira were moved to the North East, but are now captured by the Boko Haram. If Mubi cannot be protected, nowhere in the North is protected. OUR CONCERN NOW Several cities of the North East are largely populated by Christians, Michika with 96% Christians, Gwoza with 75% Christians, Bama with 45 per cent Christians, Madagali with 71% Christians. These and several other cities of the North East have been captured by the insurgents. Recently, Mubi has been captured and thousands of Christians are on the run, while many have been beheaded and thousands are still missing without any trace. Christians are being used as human shield by the Boko Haram. Innocent women are abducted while young men are forcefully recruited to join the insurgents. Any Christian that refuses to renounce Christ is beheaded. The situation is so dire that those who escaped to the hills were eating grass due to lack of food. In addition to the lack of food, there has been cholera breakout among the refugees that killed many children. Please consider the following distressing figures: On 26th Oct, 2014, Boko Haram abducted 30 men from Mafa to marry the Chibok girls in Sambisa forest. On 17th Oct, 2014, they took 22 Christians in Gwoza and forced them to take arms. On 23th Oct 2014, they abducted 26 men and 30 women and took them to Sambisa. On 25th Oct 2014 Christians that ran to the hills were pursued and slaughtered. Many Christians have been kidnapped by Boko Haram and were marked with Boko Haram tattoos which make them vulnerable and potrays them as members of the insurgents. Anyone found with this tattoo on the body by Nigerian or Cameroonian military can be arrested or killed immediately. The nation of Cameroun is populated by 21.7 million people, approximately the size of Lagos state. They are able to keep and protect their borders. Nigerian Leaders must rise above religious and ethnic animosity and prevent this nation from being torn apart. THE NEED OF THE PERSECUTED CHURCH NOW While we must appreciate the contribution of the President of CAN, Pastor Oritsejafor, the Anglican Communion (The Burden Bearers), Victoria Christian Fellowship Church, Lekki, TREM, and various other Christian bodies who are helping the children and families of Martyrs in Nigeria, we are asking the Church leaders, to please stand up to save lives now. Our mission is on ground in Yola providing foods and medicals to brothers and sisters who need our help now. Our gratitude goes to Oyedepo foundation for granting free university education to two of the children of the martyrs. We ask other Christian universities to help these children that lost one or both parents due to the persecution of Christians in northern Nigeria. Blessings Isaac O. On Tuesday 11th November, at Mile 12, Ketu, young men from the North were seen hawking machetes and swords in broad daylight. The popular Mile 12 market was filled with all sorts of street hawkers, but it was noticed that it was only the youths from the North that were hawking brand new machetes and swords . The traffic was flowing too fast so they could not be stopped to answer some questions. Well, maybe seeing machetes should not have aroused suspicion, but swords? Who uses swords in the South? They were not seen on Wednesday, but on Thursday 13th November, 2014, the young man in the picture was seen selling only machetes. The swords have disappeared. (Maybe, they were sold.) When asked where he obtained the machete from, he explained he bought it from Lagos Island. He priced it at 1,000 naira, refused to budge at 700 naira, claiming he bought it higher but eventually sold it for 500 naira. WHERE DID IT COME FROM? We can only guess. But consider this conjecture: most trucks bringing foodstuff from the North to Lagos stop at Mile 12. Could it be that a consignment of weapons landed in Lagos, smuggled in under loads of foodstuff? Of course, only northerners could be trusted to offload. In the process of off-loading, some young rascals stole some in order to make some fast bucks. That may explain why the weapons suddenly surfaced in the vicinity of Mile 12 market, Ketu. I had visited a machete manufacturing company in Port Harcourt some years ago and discovered that freshly manufactured machetes are not sharpened. It is the customer who is expected to sharpen it after purchase in order to avoid abuse. The ones that were seen on the street of Mile 12 are razor sharp. Someone has sharpened the machete and they are ready for action. ANOTHER TWIST One could have been tempted to dismiss the conjecture, if not for another related incident. On Sunday, we mentioned this at the fellowship and a Sister shocked us by informing us that in Mowe, as they went on evangelism during the week, (the same week) they saw some young northerners in an uncompleted building and sought to evangelize them. The youths they saw were smoking cannabis. The youths told them not to preach to them that they are just waiting for to be paid before they would attack. The brethren were shocked to hear the northern youths brazenly say openly that they would go from house to house attacking. Everything was ready, their weapons have arrived and all they are waiting for is the signal and the payment. “But”, protested the brethren, “why should you kill innocent people. Don’t you realize that it is evil and it is sin.” “It is no problem”, replied the youths, “ after we kill them, we shall ask for forgiveness. Allah is all merciful.” RAISING PANIC? No. On the contrary, this is to mobilize watchfulness and prayers. Watch and pray. I am convinced the two events during the same week are connected and God in His mercy is still talking to a church that is barely listening. Please consider the pattern: 2013: There was an attempt to blow up the 3rd Mainland Bridge. It failed. (Long before the attack, people have been seen visions that 3rd Mainland Bridge would collapse and lots of people will die. What was not not realized was that it would collapse due to terrorist attack. Therefore, a lot of prayers were mobilized to avert the disaster. They were to strike on Friday but were discovered on Wednesday.) 2014: There was an attempt to blow up fuel tank farms at Apapa. It failed. 2015: ![]() PEOPLE GET READY Please do not misunderstand me, I am not trying to cause panic or whip up sentiments, but I get the impression that the church is not preparing for a situation that is so clear you can easily predict what will happen next. By now churches should be training their people on spiritual warfare prayers. Emphases now should be on taking authority over the demons that are mobilizing massively to cause wholesale destruction in the country. Christians should be trained and deployed to exercise spiritual territorial authority all over the nation. Unfortunately, most churches still behave as if the party has not ended. I was particularly dismayed that one church in our neighborhood did not allow the neighbors to sleep on Friday. Powerful loud speakers blared throughout the night telling the worshippers how to use praises to receive miracles and breakthrough! In the midst of all these! They danced throughout the night, meanwhile their brethren are being killed in gruesome manner!!! No wonder God says the Nigerian church is an “irresponsible” church. (God said it, not me.) LAPSES EVERYWHERE? 1. Christians are not trained and deployed to exercise spiritual dominion over the terrorists and “those that delight in war”. A senior pastor counseled recently that the Nigerian church should declare a state of emergency in the church, suspend all activities and focus on prayers. How many churches have complied? In addition, a set of counsels were given on “7 Things the Church Should Do Now”. ( www.kingdomnewsng.com ) How many churches are taking concrete steps to forestall the imminent calamity? 2. I was shocked to hear at a prophetic ministers conference on Saturday that the children of Ishmael now go to big churches around 1 a.m. on Sunday mornings with incense and other articles of sorcery to enchant and cast spells on Christians. The elder who spoke is too responsible to talk carelessly. He confirmed, and other ministers present at the prophetic conference bore witness that it is happening. Please train and deploy the people to man the night hours in warfare prayers. This is no time to sleep! 3. Please teach the people to return to righteousness and holiness so that their prayers can be effective; God does not listen to sinners. And please, let us stop preaching prosperity and breakthrough; let us desist from provoking the Spirit of Jealousy through the worship of mammon. 4. Christians are not trained to expect crisis. If anything should happen, the people will be in disarray. Begin to prepare now. If there is an attack, what should the people do? 5. Which telephone number should they call if any crisis breaks out? Or, if they suspect that something evil is brewing, whom should they contact? Are the churches working in consonance with security agencies? Let us not forget that there are Christians also in the security services. 6. If people are injured, which hospitals should they run to? For your information, more people are seeing revelations of corpses all over the streets and people running helter- skelter. I think people should go and read again the prophetic revelation “And There Was War” on www.kingdomnewsng.com Someone sent this to me on SMS on 3rd November, 2014, ”I had a terrible revelation by 1.35 a.m. this morning. Boko Haram invaded Lagos, blocked the whole streets and went from house to house killing Christians. I narrowly escaped being lynched by my cousin. My neighbor was badly injured but was spared when she agreed to be a Muslim. Many corpses lay on the street, the sight was terrifying. Many of the people I knew lost their lives.” 7. If people have to rally round to defend themselves, according to the law, how should they go about it? What are the plans of the pastors to protect their sheep if any calamity should strike? 8. Churches on the same street, in the same neighborhood, irrespective of denomination, should come together and hold security meetings. Begin to close ranks now. Hmmm, Lo, I have told you. Your brother in Christ, Source: kingdomnewsng.com

THE EVOLUTION OF BOKO HARAM (1) Muhammed Yusuf, founder of “Boko Haram” (BH) was a devout student and follower of Sheik Jafar Mohammed, a notable and influential Islamic scholar before he encountered a radical ideology (modelled on the Afghan Taliban) which counselled a total boycott of democracy, government and Western education. Yusuf was attracted to this ‘pure’ form of Islam which led to a confrontation with his former mentor, who regarded such teachings as extremist, and who was later assassinated, probably by Yusuf’s followers in Kano in 2007. Shehu Sani claims that BH’s actual origin dates back to 1995 when it was called Sahaba and led by one Abubakar Lawan who later proceeded to the University of Medina for studies, paving way for Yusuf’s takeover. Some others trace the “Boko Haram” tendency to the Maitatsine group of the 1980’s. The group is however formally believed to have started in Maiduguri in 2002. The group’s formal name is Jama’tu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’wati Wal-Jihad (People Committed to the Propagation of the Prophet’s Teachings and Jihad) though observers nicknamed them “Boko Haram” (consistent with their teachings and conduct) which meant “western education is sacrilege/sin/forbidden”. They seek to abolish the secular Nigerian constitution in favour of an Islamic state, and want to establish a complete Sharia based state in the 19 Northern States and all over Nigeria. Sometimes known as “Yusuffiya” after its founder, BH also abhors banking, taxation and western jurisprudence/court systems and regarded the mixing of boys and girls in schools improper. Yusuf also rejected scientific explanations for natural phenomenon. It appears clear (and was recently admitted by the new leader, Imam Abubakar Shekau, a hard-line assistant of Yusuf now reportedly based in Qoundere, Cameroun) that the group’s membership include Chadians, Nigeriens, Cameroonians and other non-Nigerians and its organisational structure provided for “Amirs” in Chad and Niger! Yusuf’s landlord and in-law, late Baba Fugu, allowed him to build a mosque in the railway quarters area of Maiduguri, and along with Shekau, Yusuf developed his “state-within-a-state”- including a cabinet, a ruling council (Shura Council), departments, brigade of guards, military wing (with the “armies” recruited from the large pool of “Almajiris”), Hisbah, a large farm and court with Yusuf as judge! As Yusuf’s empire expanded, there is little doubt that the security agencies and the Nigerian state were aware of these developments. But in its dysfunctional state, they either looked the other way, or when security warned their counsel was ignored! Yusuf’s message resonated with the large number of pious, poor, uneducated, unemployed and disaffected youth and even some undergraduates and University lecturers joined his ranks. As his influence expanded, Boko Haram became attractive to politicians and soon was to form an “alliance” with the Borno State Government under Senator Ali Modu Sherriff who became governor in 2003. Sherriff appointed one of Yusuf’s associates, Alhaji Buji Foi as Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Water Resources and took the group under his wings, further expanding their influence and power and making Yusuf quite wealthy. There was a political and social context to all this. Modu Sherriff was an opposition ANPP governor who was ready to use any means possible to defend his power base from the marauding PDP. Sherriff and his fellow ANPP governors as well as their presidential candidate, then Muhammadu Buhari had championed what Obasanjo called “political Sharia” to insulate themselves from the ruling PDP onslaught.BH expanded to Bauchi, Yobe, Kano and other Northern States, and quite plausibly helped ANPP sustain their holds on Borno and Yobe and to capture Bauchi and Kano from the PDP. Then Sherriff and Yusuf fell apart! Knowing the power of his Frankenstein creation, Sherriff (and Isa Yuguda who having secured power on the ANPP platform had headed back to PDP) launched a “pre- emptive” (in Yuguda’s words) strike against BH between July 26 and 29, 2009 routing the group in Bauchi, Maiduguri, Yobe and Kano States… or so it then seemed! It was convenient to all concerned to kill Yusuf, Boi and Baba Fugu! Meanwhile, the political environment was changing in favour of BH’s narrative! President Yar’adua who gave the order to crush BH died and Northern politicians, Imams, Emirs, and elite appeared unhappy that his Vice-Prsident, Jonathan, a Southern Christian would take-over from him. To make things worse, Jonathan proceeded to contest and win the 2011 elections against Northern threats and intimidation. BH duly underwent a transformation. To provide troops, jail breaks were organized-on September 8, 2010 from Bauchi Prisons; and Yola Prisons on April 22, 2011-where detained members were freed. A transition in terms of funding, logistics, training, operational capabilities, intelligence and audacity was also evident. How and who oversaw these transformations? At the latest, by January 2010 when BH launched its Jihad with its first terrorist attack in Maiduguri, it may have been linked with Al Queda as recently confirmed by the Nigerian foreign minister. From ride-by shootings on “okadas” in Maiduguri and environs, they graduated to audacious attacks on police headquarters in Abuja; and the Christmas day bombing of the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Madalla, Niger State! Suicide bombings also came into the mix! The suspicious circumstances of the “escape” of Kabiru “Sokoto” (of Biu), the alleged Madalla bomber in the custody of Zakari Biu confirms that BH may have links high up in the police, security agencies, traditional and religious establishment, and political and elite circles. The Evolution of Boko Haram (2) It seems Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda was instrumental in persuading late President Yar’adua to curtail the menace of “Boko Haram”. Yuguda having decamped from PDP to ANPP, duly won the governorship in 2007. He subsequently became Yar’adua’s son-in-law, and returned to the PDP, possibly losing some political goodwill in the process. He may have dreaded returning to the electorate in 2011 with “Boko Haram” roaming free in Bauchi! I have previously noted that having fallen out with the sect, then Borno governor Modu Sherriff was also eager to see off Boko Haram. When security forces turned on “Boko Haram”, between July 26 and 29, they responded in a surprising manner- in Maiduguri, they exacted “revenge” in a perverse manner by turning on the nearest Christians! While under attack from the army and the police, Muhammed Yusuf ordered his followers to capture hundreds of Christians. The male captives had a simple choice-renounce your faith or die! For the females, it was renounce your faith or stay as captives, meaning slavery, servitude or worse! The worst treatment was reserved for Christian clergymen- three pastors were beheaded with the executioners shouting “Allah Akbar” in wild celebrations accompanied by celebratory gunfire. Pastor George Orjih of Goodnews Church Wulari, Maiduguri was one of the three. Muhammed Yusuf personally urged him to renounce his faith and live, to which the Pastor rejected and instead actually preached to Yusuf to accept the Christian salvation! Incensed, Yusuf ordered his immediate slaughter! Fortunately for most of the captives, the government prevailed in that confrontation and most of them were released after Yusuf’s capture. Once it launched its Jihad in 2010, Boko Haram has had four categories of targets-specific Islamic clerics who disagreed with its teachings or methods; government and security institutions and personnel; institutions which they considered abhorrent to Islam-particularly hotels and beer parlours; and Christians and/Churches. It is easy to understand why they would attack the first three groups-opposing Islamic clerics could potentially undermine their theology and legitimacy; government and security agencies had attacked and killed their leaders; the disdain Moslems are supposed to have for alcohol and prostitution is well-known. The resort to targeting Churches and Christians who till then had played no part whatsoever in this essentially intra-Muslim quarrel was inexplicable- the then president, governors of all states in which BH were attacked, the then National Security Adviser, etc., all being Muslims. The trend of BH were attacking Churches and Christians has since accelerated, rather than decline culminating in the Christmas Day 2010 attacks on Churches in Jos; 2011 bombing of the Madalla Church and killings in Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe, Borno, Bauchi, Niger and Plateau States. As previously stated, one can observe a clear transition from BH when it was pre-occupied with local politics in the North-East and Kano, and the newer version which seems to have a national or even international agenda (evidenced by the attack on the UN headquarters). It is clear that BH has been influenced by Nigerian politics in general, and the North-South power struggle that ensued after Yar’adua’s death in particular. Indeed, it is possible to interpret their January 2, 2012 ultimatum on Southerners to leave the North in explicit political terms-perhaps an attempt to reverse the April 2011 scenario in which a Christian Southerner obtained twenty-five per cent of the votes or more in most Northern States! One could also draw a parallel between the objectives of this ultimatum and the post-election violence which erupted across Northern Nigeria last April. Northern politicians such as Adamu Ciroma, Lawal Kaita, Yahaya Kwande, Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar had made statements which may have contributed towards creating and environment conducive to or indifferent to political violence. Changes in Boko Haram’s methods and activities (such as suicide bombing) also suggest a link-up with Al Qaeda. The body language of some Northern leaders (such as Borno elders who spoke out only whenever government took military action and the initially tepid response of the Northern establishment) while not establishing complicity with BH, indicated at least mixed emotions! The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) very recently issued a shocking statement claiming falsely that BH’s ultimatum was in response to an earlier one issued by the “South- South” in effect justifying same! The most blatant justification of BH has however been the one by CBN governor Sanusi Lamido who claimed to the Financial Times, that the phenomenon was a consequence of divergent federal resource flows to the South-South and North-East since 13 per cent derivations principle in 1999! Sanusi ignored any facts that contradicted his logic-Cross-River and Edo States (both in South-South) which get next-to- nothing from derivation should then be consumed by terrorism; South-West and North-Central States who do not benefit from derivation haven’t shown the same tendency; the South- East zone actually receives lower federal allocations than North-East; and how does Sanusi explain the pre-1999 religious riots in the North (when Northern States took the highest allocations based on population figures) including the Maitstsine crisis, or the 1995 beheading of Gideon Akaluka in Kano? I recommend that anyone interested in resolving the crisis of poverty, unemployment and ignorance in the North, should seek the solution in education, skills acquisition, focus on economic development and avoidance of extremist religious philosophy! The BH crisis has its roots in a dangerous combination of extremist religious ideology abysmal social conditions and political brinkmanship!!! The evolution of Boko Haram (3) This columnist has written at least six articles dedicated to “Boko Haram”-“The Evolution of Boko Haram” Parts 1 and 2 on February 1 and 8, 2012; “Johnnie Carson, the US and Boko Haram” on April 18, 2012; “The Malian Jihad” on January 23, 2012; “The Politics of Boko Haram” on April 10, 2013; and “Amnesty and Emergency” on May 22, 2013 and other articles treating the issue in part and on social media. Through all these, my position hasn’t changed-the phenomenon has religious, political, social, military and global dimensions and appeasement is unlikely to resolve the crises. Boko Haram (BH) is motivated by extremist religious ideology and seeks to overawe Nigeria’s secular constitution in favour of an Islamic Caliphate governed under fundamentalist Sharia. Socio-economic conditions in the North generally and North-East in particular facilitate religious demagoguery poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and ignorance, decades of tolerance for sectarian politics combined with hegemonic aspirations and an inclination to deploy violence for political ends, and a large, “un-parented” and uneducated youth population bereft of skills and employability whose only social conditioning has been through a bankrupt “Almajiri” system. National politics, since 1999, particularly since the demise of late President Yar’adua and the regionalised 2011 presidential contest encouraged a climate suitable for transmutation of what was till 2011, a localized band of religious miscreants with links to regional politicians into a national terrorist organization with the objective of destroying an unwanted presidency. Given these facts, the debate over whether Boko Haram is religious, political or otherwise is silly, nonsensical and pointless! The group is explicitly religious, has patently political objectives, exploits abject socio-economic conditions and weak governance, and is able to leverage a politico- religious narrative of marginalization of faith and religion! The US and Western nations have been in denial regarding BH and made utterly faulty and escapist diagnosis and prescriptions for resolving the matter-Johnnie Carson wanted Nigeria to appoint more “Northerners” to “important” positions (unaware (?) that except the Presidency (which they had until then disproportionately dominated), Northern Muslims occupied many of the most important positions in the land-Vice President, ruling party chair, Chief Justice, Representatives Speaker, CBN Governor, Ministers of Defence, FCT, Foreign Affairs and Education, NSA, Inspector General, Attorney General, Head of Service, Court of Appeal President etc.) and to create a Ministry of Northern Affairs; Hillary Clinton refused to designate Boko Haram a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) on the faulty logic that doing so would alienate the North (curious given the official Northern positions that the group represented neither Islam nor the North); and Obama and Cameron tried their best to pretend not to notice BH even when it bombed the UN office in Abuja, Churches, newspaper houses and markets! Till date we retain several wrong assumptions about Boko Haram-that most of the terrorists are infiltrators from neighbouring countries-Niger, Chad, Cameroun, Mali, even Somalia etc.-but the more empirical observation may in fact be that Nigeria is now the epicentre of a West and Central African terrorist network that may in fact destabilize other countries. I will not be surprised to find for instance, that the inspiration, funding and logistics for the failed Jihads in Mali and the Central African Republic may have partly or substantially emanated from Nigeria, No one doubts that BH has now linked up with Al-Qaeda and Somalia’s Al-Shabab! Another error has been discussing “Boko Haram”, “Ansarul” (the Malian-related, more internationally- focused brand of Boko Haram) and “Fulani Herdsmen” (the domestic terrorism franchise for the Middle-Belt of Nigeria) as though they were separate groups! Recent evidence confirms as I have always suspected that all are one and the same! Two other facts are evident-the Nigerian state would be wise to investigate the linkages to Sudan in Nigerian terrorism. The media expose by a retired ambassador, Bola Dada and the recent escape of Nyanya bombing suspect, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche to that country suggests that Sudan plays a significant role in nurturing Nigeria’s Islamic fundamentalists!!! More troubling is the likelihood that elements in the armed forces and security services may be involved in sabotaging operational strategies and information in the war against BH! Nigerian soldiers evidently believe so, going by the mutiny against the now withdrawn GOC in Maiduguri, Major General Ahmadu Mohammed!!! The internationalization of the ‘war’ against BH in the aftermath of the Chibok school girls’ abduction and involvement of US, France (which thankfully achieved of US, France (which thankfully achieved a breakthrough in regional cooperation incorporating Nigeria. Cameroun, Chad, Benin and Niger), Britain, China and Israel may be useful in addressing the problem. On the other hand, the development may signal the weakening of the Nigerian state and its possible decline! The critical question Nigeria and the international community avoids confronting is “who provides the funding and logistics for Boko Haram, Fulani Herdsmen and other terrorists groups operating in Nigeria?” Does anyone really believe that “Imam Shekau” is the “leader” of the group that has been tormenting our nation for the past three years? (I am inclined to the DSS position that Shekau is a “title” and “identity” just like “Abu Qaqa” and is really a dispensable image rather than substantive leader) How does Shekau, who operates in the border regions of the North-East record and upload his videos and transmit them to AFP? How do the Hilux vans, rocket launchers and arms and ammunition deployed by Boko Haram get to Shekau and his men? We know where the foot soldiers of Boko Haram are, but who are the brains and wallets of Boko Haram, and where are they? While we ponder these question, Nigeria’s President Jonathan confirms that Boko Haram has now killed twelve thousand innocent citizens!!!
