The following are a list of acceptable answers as good reasons to leaving a job: Career growth You can easily say that you are looking for a change in role and wanted more growth, or even that your position was getting stagnant. This might be an acceptable reason for quitting your job, but this by no means gives you leeway to criticize your job. Your career path One reason is basic dissatisfaction with your career. Remember that it is not about the particular company or the department, but your career on the whole. This reason would hold true if you have a rich career profile and are currently applying for a job in a new profession. Looking for challenges One of the most common and simple reasons is that your job was at a standstill and you wished to seek newer avenues and greater challenges. Restructuring Another common reason nowadays is company restructuring. When a company restructures, it can lay off several people, and in a timeframe. Therefore, even if you have not been directly told to go, nobody would blame you if you are looking for avenues because your colleagues or some other department has been told to go. Relocation More often than not, relocation is another reason that is blindly accepted by a company as a reason for looking for another job. While these are just some of the traditional reasons for a job change, there are some reasons that are more or less accepted today. Enhanced Education Another reason that can be provided is enhancement of abilities and education. If you have recently acquired a degree and have decided to utilize your education to enhance your professional profile, this would be a good reason to give for this question. Workplace distance Sometimes, even reasons related to daily commutation, like spending too much time commuting from your place of work to your place of residence, as well as less time spent with family can be considered to be the reason/one of the reasons for leaving a job. Remember that you cannot lie about the reason why you quit your job. In this era of references and cross references, finding out the real reason why you quit your job is as simple as dialing ten digits on a mobile device. I hope this helps |
With the successful postponement of the elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the Presidency has launched a two-pronged war to ensure that President Goodluck Jonathan wins the election convincingly. The two strategies are to stop Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress candidate from contesting the election with Jonathan and the replacement of the INEC Chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega, with a less independent-minded person. Jega, it was gathered, had been described by hawks around the president of being too independent-minded and ‘uncooperative’ despite being given the job on a platter of gold by the president’s men. Vanguard learnt that Jega might have unwittingly played into the hands of the forces arrayed against him by agreeing to shift the elections. Legal war to disqualify Buhari Competent sources said last night that the move to remove Jega and the legal fireworks against Buhari, would be taken up simultaneously with effect from this week given the timeframe made possible by the shift. The retired general is to be prosecuted by a team of legal luminaries for ‘lying on oath’ that he had a school certificate with the Nigerian Army when he knew that it was untrue. The plaintiffs are said to have settled for trying Buhari for alleged ‘perjury’ instead of outright non-possession of certificate following legal advice that the latter would be more difficult to prove within the time at their disposal. Vanguard learnt that although Jega reluctantly succumbed to pressure from the Presidency and its security chiefs to shift the polls, he might still not be allowed by the forces to conduct the rescheduled elections between March 28 and April 11. Vanguard gathered from competent sources that the Presidency was no longer comfortable with Jega and was, therefore, working tirelessly to get him out of the commission to pave the way for a more ‘trusted hand’ to conduct the rescheduled elections. It was learnt that the forces arrayed against the INEC boss had convinced the President not to renew Jega’s tenure, which is expected to lapse on June 13 this year. The forces, it was learnt, felt that Jega was rather too ‘difficult’ to deal with, having not allowed himself to be dictated to by anyone since assuming office like other appointees of the government. It was learnt that in a bid to sweep off Jega from his seat without raising any dust, he would be asked to comply with the civil service procedure by proceeding on his three months terminal leave with effect from March 1, this year since he is expected to retire on June 13. S-West gov’s brother may replace Jega Vanguard gathered that in his place, the Presidency was considering bringing in another academic from the South-West, who is currently heading a tertiary institution in the country. The professor of Political Science and International Relations is said to be a sibling of a serving governor in the South-West, who is a close ally of President Goodluck Jonathan and his party. Competent sources also told Vanguard last night that although the name of the academic had been made known in security circles, it was not clear whether the man had been cleared by the forces with a view to sending his name to the National Assembly for possible confirmation, as required by law. Working against Jonathan’s interest As a prelude to removing Jega from office, some close allies of the President had started accusing him of taking side with the opposition to undermine the success of Jonathan and his party in the next election. Earlier last week, Jonathan’s godfather, Chief Edwin Clark and other prominent politicians from the Southern part of the country had accused Jega of working against the interest of the president and the PDP and asked him to resign from the commission. Although no evidence was adduced by Clark and his group to support their allegation, they nonetheless called for the arrest of Jega. Similarly, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, on Saturday, said Jega had lied about the state of the commission’s preparedness for the conduct of the election. In the same vein, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Olisa Metuh, accused INEC of working with the opposition to deny its members of permanent voter cards in some states. He called on the security agents to probe the commission over the development.

PORT HARCOURT—There was heavy presence of soldiers in major areas of Port Harcourt yesterday, apparently due to the postponement of the general elections. Some residents said the military was probably being proactive to nip any ugly reaction to the postponement in the bud. When contacted, the Army Public Relations Officer, Port Harcourt Barracks, Captain Nsima Essie, said the soldiers were on routine operations in the state. In another development, the Navy assured of effective policing of the waterways in the Niger Delta before and after the general elections. New Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral, Henry Babalola, who spoke yesterday in Port Harcourt, said the deployment of troops on the waterways was in compliance with the request of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, adding that it was part of move to guard against ballot box snatching and issues of electoral violence. He said the Navy would continue to assist the electoral body to deliver credible elections to Nigerians. He said: “The dictates of standard operating procedures guarding military operations. We will standby to assist INEC to provide security to transport electoral materials to riverine areas, when we are called upon. “We will standby to create an enabling environment that will allow voters to lawfully and legally come out to cast their votes. “Subverting electoral process starts from when thugs import arms and ammunition to cause problems, and so we are deploying one helicopter to join the naval flying unit here, and patrol boats to ward-off ships bearing arms to the militants. “It is a trying moment for our nation, and so the idea is that at the end of the day, we will be on top of the game to create a conducive atmosphere for the elections to take place.” Continuing, he said his men were free to vote for candidates of their choice but should do so in mufti and should not hang around polling booths after casting their votes. He further warned them against openly campaigning for any of the political parties Babalola said the navy would soon take delivery of three warships to enhance its security operations. “Very shortly, the Commander in Chief (of the armed forces) and the Chief of the Naval Staff will be commissioning three additions to the Nigerian navy fleet – and they are very big ships. “We have the offshore patrol Centenary vessel from China assigned to the (nation’s) eastern fleet; the NNS Opabana – an ex-United States Coast Guard ship, and another training ship, NNS Prosperity. “Again, on the smaller scale, we are purchasing new boats; and we have just been assigned two-new K-13 (gun) boats with a view to adding more bite to our war on crude oil theft and other illegalities in our maritime environment,” he said. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/02/soldiers-deployed-p-harcourt-navy-intensifies-security-waterways/#sthash.UdKwWT7D.dpuf |
Abuja – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has further extended the deadline for collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) until March 8, 2015. In a statement, yesterday, by the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs Augusta Ogakwu, said the four weeks extension of the deadline followed the rescheduling of the 2015 general elections. She stated that “the collection of the cards will continue for four more weeks until March 8, 2015. “The Commission expresses hope that the extension will finally avail every registered voter, yet to collect his/her PVC, the opportunity to do so in readiness for the general elections.’’ INEC had on Feb. 1 extended the deadline for collection of PVCs to Feb. 8, 2015 following the earlier deadline of Jan. 31, 2015. INEC had also on Saturday, Feb. 7, rescheduled the 2015 general elections by six weeks citing security concerns. The Commission rescheduled the Presidential and National Assembly elections from Feb. 14 to March 28, and Governorship and state Houses of Assembly polls from Feb. 28 to April 11. (NAN) |
ROMANUS UGWU, Abuja The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee has laid the blame for the continued delay in renewing the contract of out of job Stephen Keshi on the Felix Anyansi-led Technical Sub-committee, even as it urged Nigerians to hold the committee responsible. Speaking to Daily Sunsports in Abuja yesterday, NFF first Vice President Mr. Seyi Akinwunmi, maintained that the delay had nothing to do with the absence of Pinnick Amaju, who was on CAF duty in the just concluded AFCON tournament in Equatorial Guinea. “There is no iota of truth that the absence of the federation’s president was responsible for the delay in finalising Keshi’s contract. I think the technical committee should be in the best position to answer that question. They were given a job to do, we are waiting for them to get back to us. “I have been acting in his absence, I don’t think there has been any lacuna, and even if there is they can always get across to us. We are only waiting for them to give us the report,” he quipped. Speaking on the just concluded Africa Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea, he stressed: “It is very unfortunate that we did not participate in the tournament otherwise we would have shown how good we are despite what happened. But, we must not continue to bicker over what happened. “Let me however, admit that it was a very tensed finals, though the events of the quarterfinals tend to portray Africa in bad light. I have to also give kudos to the host country for putting up such arrangements within so short a time,” he noted. Asked if the tournament missed the Super Eagles or vice visa, he argued: “I think the tournament missed the Super Eagles, though we also missed the tournament because it is important for us to be at the top in every stage of a tournament. The tournament has come and gone, we can only continue to move forward. We recognise that we should have been there but we cannot dwell on that for long.” ….To retire Enyeama, Mikel, Osaze from Eagles If the comments of the President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, is anything to go by, the days of players like Vincent Enyeama, John Mikel Obi, Osaze Odewinmgie and other old players in the Super Eagles seem to be numbered, following revelation that plans are in the pipeline to shut them out of the squad. Pinnick, who spoke with journalists on arrival from the just concluded Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea stressed that only young and talented players would be recruited into the senior national team as part of the re building process. He said judging from what he saw at the tournament where most countries paraded relatively young players, whose names did not ring bells in world football, the display of raw natural talent and skills added glamour to the tournament. “In Equatorial Guinea I saw young and talented players, I saw zeal, national morale and selflessness, as well as the hunger to excel. There was no Eto,o, Drogba, Muntari and Michael Essien. May be apart from Yaya Toure and Asamoah Gyan there were no notable big names. “In fact, when you see these players on television you think they are very old, but seeing them physically revealed that they are very young. As a match commissioner, I went into their dressing rooms and I can confirm that these players are young. “In fact, I asked a player his age and he told me he is 18 years and truly he looks it. So, I am telling you, those are players that are hungry, whose age is between 18 to 22, these are we are lacking in the Super Eagles. “Before we won the AFCON in 2013, there was hunger, you could see what Mba did, how he twisted his leg to score that goal, it was very daring. That could have ended his career, but I don’t think he may want to do that again because possibly he would want to save his leg,” he said. |
Ex-gov: Jonathan feared he would lose By NDUBUISI ORJI The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu, said yesterday that last Saturday’s postponement of the general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was done because President Goodluck Jonathan feared he would lose if the poll holds on February 14. In a statement, Tinubu, who is also a former governor of Lagos State, said although the postponement was hinged on security concerns, it was not done because of the national good. He said the shift may be a prelude to more authoritarian action by the Jonathan administration. The APC leader said if elections could hold in countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq, why could not in Nigeria where 14 out of 774 Local Government Areas are currently under siege of Boko Haram insurgents. However, the former governor called on the party supporters and Nigerians to remain calm and do everything to keep the peace, noting that “ it is inevitable that change shall come and we shall bring it fairly, democratically and peacefully. They will attempt more tricks before the six weeks is over. Each time, they will be defeated by the power of our commitment to a new day in a new democratic Nigeria. “What happened last Saturday was actually not a postponement due to security or logistical reasons. What happened was the product of overt political interference undermining the independence of the election management body, INEC. The elections were postponed not because they could safely be held. They were postponed because one man, President Jonathan, feared that an election held on February 14 would for him become an election lost. While the mouth was Jega, the words were Jonathan. He chose to place our democracy at risk than do what democracy demands by facing and risking the verdict of the people. That he would use our security agencies to provide his excuse only adds insult to injury. “This act was one desperation of a man in fear of defeat. It was not done for the national good. It was the wrong thing done for the wrong reason by the wrong man. “The rationale stated by the heavily intimidated INEC chairman does not withstand close scrutiny nor the rigours of logical thought. It is nothing, but a lie draped in a falsehood born by deceit. Jega said he hinged his decision on a purported letter stating that due to an impending offensive, the security agencies will not have the personnel to spare to adequately guard the polling areas in the northeastern states. “For the service chiefs to be inserted in the electoral process in this manner and at the 11th hour reveals nothing but a cynical plot to thwart elections. President Jonathan has revealed that he only wants elections where the guaranty is that he shall win. This is not the nature of democratic elections. Jonathan’s government has purposefully undermined the electoral process because he is not interested in a free and fair honest election where the outcome reflects the sovereign will of the people. He wants an elaborate coronation dressed in the garb of an election. The Nigerian people are too smart for this rude trick. “This postponement is a smokescreen because what the letter says is that they are advising a postponement of six weeks in the first instance, subject to the amelioration of the security situation in the North-East. This is coming from a Chief of Defence Staff that vowed to crush the insurgents within four months early last year. A year later, nothing has changed. He is now asking Nigerians to believe this government can do in six weeks what it could not do in six years. “I ask Nigerians to question why these service chiefs decided to launch a major operation a week before the elections? What is new about the security situation in the last two weeks that has not been there these past several years? The date and importance of the election were well publicized. Why did they wait till now? They waited because they were given marching orders by the President to delay the elections,” Tinubu said. http://sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=104056

Hello Friend, welcome to the new month of February. the train of the year 2015, have successfully brought us into a new phase of the year. You know, when the year started, a lot of people wrote things they want to accomplish this year. And truly speaking, a good number of them have totally forgotten about the things they said they would accomplish this year. One thing I always say is: Planning, wishing, wanting, desiring, dreaming etc is not what will bring the results, it is the SPECIFIC ACTION you take on your carefully planned roadmap that matters. Action they say speak louder than words. So in other words, actions speak louder than just desiring, wishing etc. if you must make any headway this year, you must shift from the wishing and dream world and step into reality where real people are those who take specific actions towards achieving their aims. Now the question is: what specific action have you taken in respect to the things you put down on paper that you will achieve this year? If you are one of those who always wait for "everything" to be in place, then you are not serious about your life. if everything falls in place, you WILL never achieve anything in this life. almost all the people i know who've achieved great things in their lives didn't wait for everything to be in available. They had to start with what they had at that point in time. As they progressed, they started getting better tools and valuable knowledge about their businesses. On Thursday last week, I got a very exciting call from a Female Barrister who gladly told me her testimony of how she's started her own small scale importation business. My Female Barrister Friend told me how she imported two phones and some Hollandise wrappers and had already sold them for handsome profit... really. That is what I am talking about. Action takers. and not people who buy information and don't use them. One of the things she told me, and of course I've been saying it is that, she is looking for the market that is HOT in her area. That is, she is looking for HOT products people spend their money. because once a market that has a strong buying power is spotted, then things become somewhat easier for you. Now the thing is, now she's started small, and she's really confirmed that this importation business works. The only thing she needs right now is consistent progress in this business. Yes. There should be growth in your business and life. Always watch your market, and know when demand is high or low for a particular product. this way, you get to save yourself from plenty wahala. Alright. That's all I've got to tell you today. But remember one thing: you can make a change in your life today. it's all your decision to make, nobody is going to do that for you. you are solely and totally responsible for your life. Make a decision today to start taking the right steps in life and business, and trust me, it will be just a matter of time, you will start reaping the fruits of your labour. You Can Make The Best Out of Life. Just Do It. Have a Blessed Week and Prosperous Month Ahead. |

Here are eight tips that can help you get your idea off the ground with limited funds. 1. Build your business around what you know. Instead of venturing off into uncharted territory, make sure that you build your business around your skills and knowledge. The less you have to rely on outside sources the better. When your business is built around your own personal expertise you can eliminate consultants and outside assistance. Also, having that knowledge is sometimes all that is needed to successfully take the plunge into entrepreneurship. 2. Tell everyone you know what you are doing. Inform your family, friends, business contacts and past colleagues about your new business. Call, send emails and make your new venture known on your social-media profiles. Your friends and family members can help you spread the word, and past business contacts can introduce your brand to their professional contacts as well. This type of grassroots marketing can help introduce your company to a much larger audience. 3. Avoid unnecessary expenses. You are going to have plenty of expenses, and there are some that just can’t be avoided. What you can avoid though is overspending. Take something as simple as business cards. You could drop 100k on 500 metal business cards that give off the “cool” factor, or you could spend 10k on 500 traditional business cards. Being frugal in the beginning can be the difference between success and a failed business. 4. Don’t get buried in debt. There is a smart way and a suicidal way to use credit when starting a business. New computers, office furniture, phones and supplies can all quickly add up. Instead of purchasing everything at once and throwing it all on a credit card, use your company’s revenue to finance your expenses. Eliminating the stress and burden of debt will greatly increase the chances of creating a successful business. |
