He ruled Nigeria from 27 August 1985, when he overthrew Major General Muhammadu Buhari in a coup , until his departure from office on 27 August 1993, having annulled the elections held on June 12 that year. General Babangida was a key player in most of the military coups in Nigeria (July 1966, February 1976, December 1983, August 1985, December 1985 and April 1990). There is evidence of severe human rights abuses during his regime. [2] Marriage, family and personal life Ibrahim Babangida was born in 1941, Minna , Niger State. His parents are Muhammad and Aisha Babangida. He is from the Gwari ethnic group. [3] On 6 September 1969, he married Maryam (née King) Babangida (First Lady of Nigeria 1985-93). Early military career Babangida joined the Nigerian Army on 10 December 1962, when he attended the Nigerian Military Training College in Kaduna. He went on to further his study at the Royal Armoured Corps from January 1966 until April 1966. From August 1972 to June 1973, he took the Advanced Armoured Officers' course at Armored school. He attended the Senior officers' course, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, from January 1977 until July 1977 and the Senior International Defence Management Course, Naval Postgraduate school, U.S., in 1980. He was heavily involved in quelling the Nigerian coup of 1976, when he was to ‘liberate’ a radio station from one of the coup plotters, Col Buka Suka Dimka (a close friend of his), to prevent him making further announcements over the air waves. Although he did prevent further broadcasts, Col Dimka managed to escape.

Early life Shehu Usman Shagari was born in Shagari village to the family of Magaji Aliyu and Mariamu in 1925. [2] His name, Usman, means " Companion ". [3] He was raised in a polygamous family, and was the sixth child born into the family. Prior to becoming Magajin Shagari, Aliyu, Shehu's father was a farmer, trader and herder. However, due to traditional rites that prevented rulers from participating in business, Aliyu relinquished some of his trading interest when he became the Magaji, or village head, of Shagari village. [2] Aliyu died five years after Shehu's birth, and Shehu's elder brother, Bello, briefly took on his father's mantle as Magajin Shagari. The village of Shagari was founded by Fulani Jihadist [citation needed ] and cattlemen and later dominated by Hausa traders. Like many Jihadist founded towns, religious recitals were important for children growing up [citation needed ]. Shagari was taught recitals at home and later went to a Quranic school at the age of four. However, he was obliged to attend elementary school at Yabo, a town close by. After, he went to the Sokoto Middle School and later to Kaduna college.

North - Kano General Murtala Mohammed (1938–1976) 4th Head of State of Nigeria In office July 30, 1975 – February 13, 1976 General Murtala Ramat Muhammed (November 8, 1938–February 13, 1976) was a military ruler (Head of the Federal Military Government) of Nigeria from 1975 until his assassination in 1976. Role during 1960s coups Muhammed opposed the regime of Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi which took power after a coup d'etat on January 15, 1966. Aguiyi-Ironsi, as GOC of the Nigerian Army, brought normality back to the nation by imprisoning the coup makers and intimidating the federal cabinet into handing over the helms of government to him. However, Many northerners saw this and the reluctance of Ironsi to prosecute the coupist and the fact that the army was purportedly giving exceptional privileges to the coupist as an indication of Ironsi's support for the killings. Consequently northern politicians and civil servants mounted pressure upon northern officers such as Muhammed to avenge the coup. In the night of July 29, 1966, northern soldiers at Abeokuta barracks mutinied, thus precipitating a counter-coup, which may very well have been in the planning stages. The counter-coup led to the installation of Lieutenant-Colonel Yakubu Gowon as Supreme Commander of the Nigerian Armed Forces, despite the intransigence of Muhammed who wanted the role of Supreme Commander for himself. However, as Gowon was militarily his senior, and finding a lack of support from the British and American advisors, he caved in. Gowon rewarded him by confirming his ranking (he had been an acting Lt. Colonel till then) and his appointment (Inspector of Signals). |
North - middle belt and today Plateau State. General Yakubu Gowon (1934– ) 3rd Head of State of Nigeria In office 1 August 1966 – 29 July 1975 General Yakubu "Jack" Dan-Yumma Gowon (born 19 October 1934) was the head of state (Head of the Federal Military Government) of Nigeria from 1966 to 1975. He took power after one military coup d'état and was overthrown in another. During his rule, the Nigerian government successfully prevented Biafran secession during the 1967–70 Nigerian Civil War. Early life Gowon is an Ngas (Angas) from Lur, a small village in the present Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State. His parents, Nde Yohanna and Matwok Kurnyang, left for Wusasa , Zaria as Church Missionary Society (CMS) missionaries in the early days of Gowon's life. His father took pride in the fact that he married the same day as the future Queen Mother Elizabeth married the future King George VI. Gowon was the fifth of eleven children. He grew up in Zaria and had his early life and education there. At school Gowon proved to be a very good athlete: he was the school football goalkeeper, pole vaulter, and long distance runner. Chubhie:yea. I understand your point of view. but this topic is not all about trust. but has anyone know there partner before they get to meet. more like when Samuel has known Saul before they get to meet. Samuel was waiting Saul to come so he can bless him as he already known him. |
ummm. just when you have only pop to offer. and the baby want some cheese and chocolate instead |
one thing I found is that it was a bad timing. they should have arrive after 29. |
haha. since 21 century marriage has always be a scam. I love him and I love her is nothing but mere emotions. emotions do die. and once it died hence marriage break. those who still remain in marriage only knows how to manage emotions. there is no love and it will never be. it only exist on selfish interest. |
PapiWata:go get a blog. you are Good writer. |

I still can't find anything wrong with that dress. maybe it's just me except for the fact that the dress is tight on her legs for walking properly. by the way why will anyone pick a photo from Facebook and upload to other opinion site degrading someone else child. do you take permission to do that. this is one of the reasons I hate Facebook. did the parent complain they don't like it. what if the parent found this. hypocrisy. I think it has come to a point were strict internet laws is needed to be pass. most people I have seen complaining of other people children their children is the worst. |
wait a minute, the topic is quite misleading. before you all shout praise thy lord or any jollymentation just hold it. and well it's me again Joel3. yes i keep seeing her, who? yes the one... the one and only beautiful one that matches my handsomeness. this event has not yet come but i have seen her and quite like she has already know me too on our cosmic plan. it's has not manifest in the physical planet but I already have a clue when I see her in the mother earth. she is very beautiful fresh and fair. I keep on seeing her and we have talk and play. and I was wondering if I really will want to do it. and will she not bring me problem cos she is too pretty to trust like considering me I have problem with trust. yes I have val never to get married, there are some people who marriage are not for and I think I am one of them. I have reason full of packs why I don't want. I don't want to be seen as too rigid and heartless guy. I always want things done my way, people judge me before they get to know me. though I never shift ground and there are so many things beg or tears don't work on me. my no has always been no and that I always have personal reason for it and I don't consider changing for anyone. I love my life like this. though it can be seen as disrespectful but I don't give a damn or shit. I love and enjoying being lonely. staying alone. I once open a thread that I will not share my room with a wife she will have hers. but people almost finish me with insult. among all I am very nice and romantic privately not in the open. now she might been praying for us too meet, do you think can change God decision. turning her down will need her destiny to be rewritten. has it ever occur to anyone here to know there partner before they get to meet? |

I have feeling ...... ..... ... keep quite. ok well this your marriage you need to pray. because that guy is ready to do anything to get a child. and will dump you if anyone can give him a child at this time. |
