General Ibrahim Babangida (1941–)

8th Head of State / President of Nigeria

In office 27 August 1985 – 27 August 1993
General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (born 17 August 1941), also known as IBB, is a retired Nigerian Army officer who was a military ruler of Nigeria. He ruled Nigeria from 27 August 1985, when he overthrew Major General Muhammadu Buhari in a coup , until his departure from office on 27 August 1993, having annulled the elections held on June 12 that year. General Babangida was a key player in most of the military coups in Nigeria (July 1966, February 1976, December 1983, August 1985, December 1985 and April 1990). There is evidence of severe human rights abuses during his regime. [2] Marriage, family and personal life Ibrahim Babangida was born in 1941, Minna , Niger State. His parents are Muhammad and Aisha Babangida. He is from the Gwari ethnic group. [3] On 6 September 1969, he married Maryam (née King) Babangida (First Lady of Nigeria 1985-93). They had four children together: Muhammadu, Aminu, Aishatu, and Halimatu. [3] Maryam Babangida died from complications of ovarian cancer on 27 December 2009. Early military career Babangida joined the Nigerian Army on 10 December 1962, when he attended the Nigerian Military Training College in Kaduna. He went on to further his study at the Royal Armoured Corps from January 1966 until April 1966. From August 1972 to June 1973, he took the Advanced Armoured Officers' course at Armored school. He attended the Senior officers' course, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, from January 1977 until July 1977 and the Senior International Defence Management Course, Naval Postgraduate school, U.S., in 1980. He was heavily involved in quelling the Nigerian coup of 1976, when he was to ‘liberate’ a radio station from one of the coup plotters, Col Buka Suka Dimka (a close friend of his), to prevent him making further announcements over the air waves. Although he did prevent further broadcasts, Col Dimka managed to escape.

Shehu Shagari (1925–)

6th President of Nigeria

In office October 1, 1979 – December 31, 1983

Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari, Turakin
Sakkwato (born February 25, 1925 [1] )
served as the President of Nigeria’s Second
Republic (1979–1983), after the handover
of power by General Olusegun Obasanjo 's
military government.
Shagari is a northerner of Fulani extraction
and holds the aristocratic title of Turakin
Sakkwato in the Sokoto Caliphate . He
worked as a teacher for a brief period
before entering politics in 1954 upon his
election to the federal House of
Representatives.

Early life

Shehu Usman Shagari was born in Shagari
village to the family of Magaji Aliyu and
Mariamu in 1925. [2] His name, Usman,
means " Companion ". [3] He was raised in a
polygamous family, and was the sixth child
born into the family. Prior to becoming
Magajin Shagari, Aliyu, Shehu's father was a
farmer, trader and herder. However, due to
traditional rites that prevented rulers from
participating in business, Aliyu relinquished
some of his trading interest when he
became the Magaji, or village head, of
Shagari village. [2] Aliyu died five years
after Shehu's birth, and Shehu's elder
brother, Bello, briefly took on his father's
mantle as Magajin Shagari.
The village of Shagari was founded by
Fulani Jihadist [citation needed ] and
cattlemen and later dominated by Hausa
traders. Like many Jihadist founded towns,
religious recitals were important for
children growing up [citation needed ].
Shagari was taught recitals at home and
later went to a Quranic school at the age
of four. However, he was obliged to attend
elementary school at Yabo, a town close
by. After, he went to the Sokoto Middle
School and later to Kaduna college.

General Murtala Mohammed (1938–1976)

4th Head of State of Nigeria

In office July 30, 1975 – February 13, 1976
General Murtala Ramat Muhammed (November 8, 1938–February 13, 1976) was a military ruler (Head of the Federal Military Government) of Nigeria from 1975 until his assassination in 1976.

Role during 1960s coups

Muhammed opposed the regime of Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi which took power after a coup d'etat on January 15, 1966. Aguiyi-Ironsi, as GOC of the Nigerian Army, brought normality back to the nation by imprisoning the coup makers and intimidating the federal cabinet into handing over the helms of government to him. However, Many northerners saw this and the reluctance of Ironsi to prosecute the coupist and the fact that the army was purportedly giving exceptional privileges to the coupist as an indication of Ironsi's support for the killings. Consequently northern politicians and civil servants mounted pressure upon northern officers such as Muhammed to avenge the coup. In the night of July 29, 1966, northern soldiers at Abeokuta barracks mutinied, thus precipitating a counter-coup, which may very well have been in the planning stages. The counter-coup led to the installation of Lieutenant-Colonel Yakubu Gowon as Supreme Commander of the Nigerian Armed Forces, despite the intransigence of Muhammed who wanted the role of Supreme Commander for himself. However, as Gowon was militarily his senior, and finding a lack of support from the British and American advisors, he caved in. Gowon rewarded him by confirming his ranking (he had been an acting Lt. Colonel till then) and his appointment (Inspector of Signals).

d'état and was overthrown in another.
During his rule, the Nigerian government
successfully prevented Biafran secession
during the 1967–70 Nigerian Civil War.

Early life

small village in the present Kanke Local

the early days of Gowon's life. His father
took pride in the fact that he married the
same day as the future Queen Mother
Elizabeth married the future King George
VI. Gowon was the fifth of eleven children.
He grew up in Zaria and had his early life

It should be remembered that almost
all electricity in Nigeria is created by
diesel generators, despite the fact that
there is sunshine almost every day,
including the rainy season. The country
owns at least four refineries, but does
not have the trained personnel to keep
them running. It exports crude, but the
people who deliver refined petro
products back to the country will not
bring them ashore if they are not paid,
for obvious reasons. In November, the
Naira was 158 to the dollar, and now. .

This is what happens when black
people are in control. I am not being
racist. Just pointing out a genetic fact.
They are genetically incapable of
running a civilized society. That's why
blacks need white people who are
genetically programed to run a civilized
world. We all need each others' gifts.
Africa is one of the richest continents
in the world in natural resources...gold,
silver, copper, tin, oil, forests, wildlife,
waterways, etc. You name it. Yet the
people there have NO idea what to do
with these resources. Other than the
email scams and computer hacking
industries, the people sit and wait for
other countries to come in and solve
their famine, disease (ebola), wars, and
other problems. They are backward in
education, technoolgy, healthcare.
Nigeria is a blatant example of this
stupid mentality.. And yet, they wait
for the rest of the world to come in and
solve their problems.

If you can't trust nobody, at least your mum and your future wife deserves it by default.

That animal is a young Nile Monitor Lizard, and if left alone they pose no inconvenience to humans.

Sadly, the poverty of Africa means that all non-humanoid life-forms are regarded as food and killed on sight, hence the great pride evident on the faces of all who kill wildlife and pose for photographs.

On a positive note for Nigeria, there is an un-named Urhobo speaking village in the Niger Delta, where Nile Monitor lizards are regarded as reincarnations of ancestors long-departed, meaning that killing or injuring of Monitor Lizards is ABSOLUTELY forbidden by cultural law.

After generations of being singled out to enjoy exemption from the target-list of Urhobo hunters, Nile Monitor Lizards multiplying freely in the wild close to that town have moved from the forests into populated areas, where the six-foot lizards are commonly seen eating from garbage tips, or casually raiding people's farms and homes for chickens and eggs, knowing that their activities are guaranteed never to invite aggression from humans.

The Nile Monitors of Urhobo-Land are potentially a MAJOR tourist attraction that could generate enormous levels of income from visitors curious to film the highly unusual urban giant lizard populations, with further income streams accruing from wildlife conservationists and media outlets like Discovery Channel or National Geographic.

When it comes to virtually ALL wildlife and forest, conservation PAYS far more cash in the long run, when compared to the short term rewards arising from wanton destruction.

a thread I created for lecture

Joel3:

One of the most controversial debate in history is the word destiny. thousands of years ago many scholars had debated the issue of destiny. If really there is one and if it can be change.

No doubt there had been countless of theories that destiny can be change while others rebuff the idea that it can be change.

Well within my spiritual chakra both parties are right. That means if you are of the opinion that it cannot be change you are right, and if you are of the opinion that it can be change then you are right as well.

Reasons is that destiny is a journey to a destination and its has been mapped to take place in our future and that will happen on our way. and in this event there are three type of it.

1, One of them is the most important event, this event is a must and its the only road or link that connect to the other road or path to our future unlike some of the road that has many links or shortcut where one has to decide which to follow it might also be known as free will. Sometimes there is free will and sometimes there is no free will.

But for this particular road where there is no other link which is the must destiny and one had to pass it by force this is mainly a decision by God. This type of event prayer can not change it. its only God that can change this. But other power can altered it and not mainly to change it.

This changing has its consequences. It also effect the universe. To change ones destiny will affect others destiny, it can affect a society or a nation.

Example is if one had to stay without a job for 5 years which is part of the destiny and because of inpatient one then seek help from some source to change it. The truth is that it cannot really be change what can happen is that they can only altered it to push it forward. Further example is without a job from 2015 to 2020 but because it was altered it will then moved to other date like 2017 to 2023 or even more. That five years most surely come to pass. This type of act if it's possible it can be pushed to children. Some parent pushed their suffering destiny to their next generation. But not forgetting that they are limit to every thing that can be moved forward.

Another example. Pharaoh of Egypt delayed the release of the Israelites but was he able to change it? The answer is no.

2, Next is the not so important destiny, although its part of our destiny but it's not a must. This type of event can be changed or altered but only beings that operate in higher realm can do that. The saint most likely will not change or rewrite this kind of destiny especially for that of material value. Because of their spiritual knowledge and richness in God they do not see the need for earthly valuable.

The not so important destiny, the enemy or our prayer can change it sometimes. And Its more harder if its mainly for material value. It will take a lot of hard work. The example is like 50-50%. Maybe 50% says yes it will happen and 50% says no it will not happen, or 60% says yes and 40% says no.

The higher the percentage on one side the likely it happens to that side. Otherwise it will take a lot of powers to change from 70% No & 30% Yes to a Yes.

To be continue.

Tired for now.
