Ronaldo is out of the world cup. Heart breaking for me but I expected it shaa. They played very well though. This is the game they could have brought since group stage but goodbye to Portugal. My full support is for France and Norway now. |
Orinechi:Lol I am guessing the odds for the match would be crazy but goodluck shaa. I am betting on France. |
Brazil is gone, so here's my new Top 4 favourites: France, Norway, England, and Spain or Morocco. Argentina have been good, no doubt. But God abeg... I don't want them to win. And I don't want a France vs Argentina final again. England? Well they are my underdog team but they're in the quarter-finals for a reason. They've been quietly getting the job done, who knows they might beat Norway which is unlikely anyway. |

The World Cup is getting crazier by the day, and the so-called Top 4 is no longer looking like the Top 4. 😂 Spain is still trying to hold on to those favorites' odds, but France and Argentina have shown throughout this tournament that they genuinely deserve to be in that conversation. Then there are the "underdogs" who have completely refused to act like underdogs. Norway. Egypt. And yes... England. Before you come for me, hear me out. 😂 England have always had talented players, but nobody expected them to beat Mexico 2-0 the way they did. Their football hasn't been as dominant as France's, but reaching the quarter-finals for the first time in over 50 years? That's an underdog story in my book. Argue with your keyboard. 😌 Right now, I honestly think this trophy is between France and Argentina. Those two have looked like complete teams from the first whistle of the tournament. Brazil, on the other hand, never really looked convincing despite trying to defend their five-title legacy. They kept conceding goals, and eventually, it caught up with them. But can we talk about Norway? Mehnnnn... Haaland has been an absolute monster this tournament. The "Robot" nickname is making more and more sense every game. If Norway keeps this up, I genuinely won't be surprised if he finishes as the Player of the Tournament. And finally, the most controversial team in this tournament... Portugal. Three of the best midfielders in world football, yet somehow their football has been painful to watch. "Disappointed" cannot even begin to describe my distaste for that team. And yes, the moment CR7 retires, it's over for them. I'd rather support South Africa than look their way again. Bruno can go on and keep breaking assist records all he likes, but he can't seem to replicate that form with the world's best striker as his teammate? Like, wetin we dey talk sef? 😂 This is going to affect how people see his club performances next season because now we all know say na packaging. Back pass. Side pass. Principal oshi. Their quarter-final against Spain? Grace and Inshallah. Because Spain will have to produce one of their worst performances of the tournament for Portugal to make it through. Anyway, we've got some absolute blockbuster fixtures coming up: ⚽ Egypt vs Argentina ⚽ France vs Morocco ⚽ Norway vs England Who do you think lifts the trophy from here? Drop your predictions below and catch all the remaining World Cup knockout action live on MSport.

I don’t remember the FIFA World Cup ever feeling this big. This World Cup feels different. Not because football is better, or even because it’s being played in the United States. It feels different because, since the tournament kicked off, its presence has been impossible to escape. Even in a country where soccer has often played second fiddle to American football, basketball, and baseball, the World Cup has become impossible to ignore. And it isn't just happening inside stadiums. It's happening in cafés, airports, office group chats, family dinners and across every corner of the internet. I open YouTube intending to watch one highlight, and suddenly I’m watching Mexican fans teaching Japanese supporters their chants. On TikTok, Colombians are celebrating with Moroccans. Five minutes later, I’m on X reading jokes from people in countries I’ve never visited about a referee we’ve all collectively decided is having a terrible tournament. It doesn't stop there. People who couldn't care less about football are suddenly staying up until midnight, passionately supporting countries they discovered only a few weeks ago and unexpectedly fell in love with. At first, I thought it was just my algorithm. Then I realized it wasn’t. It was everywhere. The World Cup isn’t just a sporting event. It’s one of the few moments left where billions of people are accidentally having the same conversation. Millions of fans bring their languages, chants, traditions and cultures into one place, while everyone around them gets to experience a small piece of a country they may never have visited. Think about how rare that is today. Your TikTok feed is different from mine. Your Netflix recommendations are different from mine. Your Spotify Wrapped will never look like mine. We live in personalized digital bubbles. Except, every four years, those bubbles burst. A goal goes in, and millions of people who have never met react at the exact same moment. A controversial refereeing decision becomes the topic of conversation in Lagos, London, Seoul, Buenos Aires, and Toronto within minutes. A video of fans from different countries singing together spreads across every platform. Complete strangers hug because a ball crossed a line. Ridiculous. And somehow absolutely beautiful. Perhaps that's the most fascinating part of the World Cup. It doesn't just bring football fans together. It recruits millions of temporary ones. Every four years, people who couldn't explain the offside rule suddenly have opinions on penalty decisions. Your colleague who hasn't watched a league match all season is discussing quarter-final permutations. Your aunt suddenly wants to know if Morocco can go all the way. For one month, football stops belonging only to football fans. And beyond football itself, the stories multiply. A business partnership will begin over a conversation in a fan park. A lifelong friendship will start in a queue outside a stadium. Somebody will accidentally meet the person they'll marry. A child will watch their first World Cup with a parent and only understand the value of that memory twenty years from now. Friendships will outlive the tournament. Most of these stories will never make the news. But they will exist. Years from now, people won’t just remember who won the 2026 World Cup. They’ll remember where they watched Spain’s penalty shootout. Who they hugged after a last-minute winner. The stranger they shared a beer with. The friend they made despite not speaking the same language. The country they learned about because of an unexpected underdog. And that’s when it clicked for me. Maybe the greatest thing football produces isn’t goals or the thrills of your favorites winning. Maybe it’s shared experience and memories with other people created while screaming and arguing together. And in a world where almost everything we experience has become increasingly individual, personalized, and algorithmically tailored... that might be the rarest trophy of all. Enjoyed this essay? Subscribe for more stories exploring the culture, business, and psychology behind football. And if you're following the FIFA World Cup, you can watch every match live on MSport.com.

My own opinion? Ronaldo should probably be used as a super-sub for the rest of the tournament. Contrary to what many people think, part of me would have actually preferred if he sat this World Cup out completely. Maybe then Portugal would get knocked out as usual and we can finally rest some of these endless comparisons with Messi, Mbappe and everybody else. That said, I understand his desire to hang up his boots with one last meaningful contribution for his country, even though sometimes I feel Portugal don't deserve the amount of criticism and pressure he absorbs on their behalf. From a football perspective, I honestly think his impact would be greater off the bench. At 41, coming on against tired defenders is a completely different challenge from starting and running for 90 minutes. Beyond the goals, his presence alone changes how teams defend. He creates space, occupies defenders and gives teammates confidence. At least for those who still value what he brings to the team. That's my two pence anyway. For those following the tournament, MSport is streaming all the matches live. At least watch the actual games before coming here to debate. Some of the hottest takes online are coming from people who only watched a 60-second TikTok clip and a YouTube highlight package. |
Cristiano Ronaldo's historic brace in Portugal's 5-0 thrashing of Uzbekistan has completely broken the internet, turning the tournament's narrative into another fierce battleground between his loyal supporters and vocal detractors. Following intense scrutiny after Portugal's opening 1-1 draw against DR Congo, the 41-year-old responded on Tuesday by scoring twice in Houston. In doing so, he became the first male player in football history to score in six different FIFA World Cups. What Fans Are Saying a) The "GOAT" Longevity Supporters are marveling at the fact that a 41-year-old is still performing at this level on the world stage. Fans argue that playing and scoring across a 20-year World Cup timeline (2006–2026) cements him as the ultimate symbol of durability. b) Silencing the Haters Loyal fans have flooded social media to remind everyone to "never doubt CR7." According to them, every tournament follows the same script. People write him off, then he responds. c) The Messi Counter-Argument Ronaldo supporters are already using the brace to push back against Messi fans. Their argument? While rival stars dominated headlines earlier in the tournament, Ronaldo showed up when Portugal desperately needed a result. What Critics Are Saying a) "It's Only Uzbekistan" Detractors have quickly downplayed the feat, noting that Uzbekistan are World Cup debutants and one of the tournament's lower-ranked sides. According to them, the reactions are overblown. b) The Knockout Record Hardline critics continue to bring up Ronaldo's lack of World Cup knockout-stage goals. They insist that group-stage goals mean nothing unless he delivers when Portugal reaches the business end of the tournament. c) The Celebration Debate Some pundits and neutrals have even questioned his "I'm Back!" celebration. They claim it shifted attention away from a dominant team performance orchestrated by Bruno Fernandes. Personally, I don't understand this one. Since when did footballers need permission to celebrate goals? Messi celebrated his World Cup hat-trick against Algeria and nobody complained. If Ronaldo celebrates two goals, suddenly it becomes a national issue. The Inside View Despite all the noise, Bruno Fernandes publicly backed his captain, describing Ronaldo as Portugal's "go-to player in attack" and insisting that getting him off the mark was important for the team's confidence. With Bruno's statement above, I guess he is trying to get back into people's good graces after his trash performance because if the entire Portugal team were not dragged the way they were dragged after that DR Congo match, I kid you not, they probably wouldn't have produced this scoreline, underdog team or not. Last last, whether people like him or not, Ronaldo remains the most discussed footballer on the planet. If he scores, people talk. If he doesn't score, people talk. At this point, criticism and praise seem to follow him equally. Interestingly: Fans loved Zlatan Ibrahimović saying he was a god. Fans celebrated Muhammad Ali calling himself "The Greatest." Fans admired Michael Jordan for his ruthless self-belief. Fans praised Kobe Bryant for his obsession and confidence. Yet somehow, when Ronaldo openly believes in himself, it is treated as arrogance rather than self-belief? When Ronaldo says "I'm back" after scoring, a significant group that used every English word possible to describe how washed out he is at 41 and how he needs to be benched so Portugal can finally shine suddenly reacts emotionally? As someone who supports Messi, I have come to realize that Ronaldo's confidence and discipline rub a lot of people the wrong way. That is the real issue many have with him. It has very little to do with football. People generally love confidence until someone displays it openly and unapologetically. Ironically, of the two, Ronaldo often comes across as the one with a more humble personality off the pitch. That said, what is your opinion on his game appearances moving forward? Do you think Ronaldo should start every knockout match for Portugal, or should Portugal use him as a super-sub?

Egypt came from behind to defeat New Zealand 3-1 at BC Place, Vancouver, recording the Pharaohs' first-ever FIFA World Cup victory and ending a 93-year wait for a win on the biggest stage. New Zealand struck first in the 15th minute when Finn Surman headed home from a Tim Payne corner. Egypt struggled to break through for much of the first half but found the equalizer in the 58th minute through Mostafa Zico after a Mohammed Hany assist. Mohamed Salah then took control of the game. The Egyptian legend put the Pharaohs ahead in the 67th minute with a brilliant finish from a Zico cross before providing a delightful cross for Mahmoud Hassan "Trezeguet", who sealed the comeback with a low header to complete a memorable 3-1 victory. Salah was deservedly named Player of the Match, but Coach Hossam Hassan also deserves praise for introducing Trezeguet in the second half. The winger brought energy and directness, with his intelligent runs causing constant problems for a tiring New Zealand defense. Egypt's increased intensity on the counterattack repeatedly forced the Kiwi backline out of position and created overloads that eventually proved decisive. Enzo Fernandez is open for a move to real Madrid next summer but the fact still remains that he may still not end up in madrid even if he wants to . why? because we know our poultry business men to be all about the money and the profits. Never in this life will they sell a player like Enzo at a loss. He came in at 100m and anybody interested should first drop like 120m on the table before negotitation starts. Now, a club like Madrid who have signed so many high profiled players like Rudiger, Mbappe, Arnold and the rest on a free transfer before, I sdon't see them coughing out 100m+ on a player like Enzo. Coupled with the fact that his position is not really a priority for them, they already have bellingham as a box to box midfielder who can do everything better and Enzo is still not a proper DM. You don't expect Madrid to spend 100m+ on a back up player. So Enzo nwannem relax, you go nowhere, we die here. Una don spoil the club finish you wan run, make fire burn you, who you dey run leave am for? |
According to reports from the BBC, Real Madrid are reportedly stepping up their interest in Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice. Now, before Arsenal fans start preparing their "Declan is not for sale" messages, let's all calm down first. Rice's current contract runs until June 2028, meaning he still has several years left at Arsenal. As for the reported £120m bid, Arsenal have never been a club that ignores serious offers, and Real Madrid are... well, Real Madrid. Personally, I don't see Declan Rice leaving Arsenal this summer. From everything we've seen, his move to Arsenal was about more than money. He clearly believes in the project and still has unfinished business in North London. That said, this transfer window is shaping up to be a crazy one. Chelsea fans are currently divided over reports linking Enzo Fernandez with a move to Madrid for around £100m. One camp believes no player is bigger than the club and that Chelsea should cash in and rebuild. The other camp believes Chelsea simply cannot afford to lose him right now. Personally, I'm with the latter. We said similar things when Eden Hazard left. Years later, Chelsea are still searching for that same level of skill, influence and consistency. But If Enzo insists he wants out, then so be it. At least we would have a £100m war chest to rebuild with. Now to the funniest part of this entire story. Some Arsenal fans are saying that Declan Rice moving from Arsenal to Real Madrid would be a downgrade. A downgrade? REAL MADRID? The club with 15 Champions League titles? The club players dream about joining from childhood? The club that has won more Champions League trophies than Arsenal have appeared in finals? You win one Premier League title after 22 years and suddenly the biggest club in European football is a downgrade? This is exactly why rival fans drag and troll you people every single day. The confidence is admirable. but delusion is world-class. Sometimes I genuinely feel sorry for you guys because the trolling can be excessive and downright hateful. But then you guys say something like this and suddenly everything makes sense. With the World Cup just a few days away, don't miss out on the biggest football event on the planet. The biggest ruse going on in Europe right now has to be that controversial VAR call during the West Ham vs Arsenal match over the weekend. Meanwhile, our ancient rivals called United fans have used “corruption” banter to blow my ears nonstop ![]() It’s the too much hatred for Arsenal that won’t allow some of you admit the truth. Mbappe Under Fire at Real Madrid as Fan Frustration Explodes What started as mild online criticism has now escalated into a major talking point across European football. Kylian Mbappé is currently facing strong backlash from sections of the Real Madrid fanbase after reports of internal dressing room tension, questions around team chemistry, and concerns about the squad’s attacking balance since his arrival. In recent days, several online petitions calling for the French forward to leave the club have gone viral, with some reportedly attracting significant numbers of signatures. The frustration reportedly intensified after Mbappé was seen on a recovery trip to Italy while Real Madrid were going through a difficult spell domestically and in Europe. Many supporters criticised the timing, especially with Barcelona closing in on the La Liga title and Madrid already out of the Champions League. Beyond the off-field controversy, a bigger tactical debate has emerged among fans and pundits alike: is Real Madrid’s current attack truly balanced? A growing section of supporters believe players such as Vinícius Jr. may be underutilised or tactically affected by Mbappé’s presence. Others argue that the duo has not yet developed natural chemistry within the same attacking structure. Spanish media discussions have increasingly questioned whether both superstars can consistently coexist in an optimal system. Despite the criticism, Mbappé’s individual numbers remain strong. However, Real Madrid’s overall performances have fallen short of expectations, and that has shifted much of the frustration toward their biggest signing. Still, many voices within football believe the reaction is being overstated. Sources close to the club and Mbappé have defended him, suggesting the criticism is largely driven by emotional responses during a disappointing, trophyless season. The UEFA Champions League continues with one of the season’s biggest matchups as PSG prepare to face Arsenal in a clash packed with pressure, expectations, and legacy-defining stakes. For Arsenal, this is more than just another knockout game. Mikel Arteta’s side has spent the last few seasons rebuilding toward elite European status, and this fixture represents a chance to prove they truly belong among Europe’s best again. PSG meanwhile remain desperate to finally establish themselves as consistent Champions League winners after years of near misses and massive spending. Tactically, the game could be decided by: Arsenal’s midfield control PSG’s pace in transition Defensive concentration in key moments Which attack handles pressure better One thing is certain: this does not feel like a routine Champions League tie. The pressure surrounding both clubs makes this feel like a defining moment in their season. Arsenal may have looked more balanced throughout large parts of the campaign, but PSG arguably possess the kind of individual match-winners capable of deciding tight knockout games instantly. On paper, many fans still see PSG as the more dangerous side in high-pressure moments. Whether Arsenal’s structure can overcome PSG’s firepower remains one of the biggest questions heading into the clash. For football fans looking to stay updated with the biggest fixtures across Europe, featured matches from the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, La Liga, Serie A, and more can be followed on MSport.com Having continued to redefine the matchday experience for users both on and off the pitch, with their new TVC "Play Where You Belong" fans can also explore a variety of casino games and live gaming experiences available on the platform while keeping up with the latest football action, transfer stories, and trending sports conversations.

There’s always the Messi vs Ronaldo debate online, but I was curious what everyday football fans in Lagos actually think. So we stepped out in collaboration with MSport and asked random people on the streets one simple question: Who is the GOAT? Some answers were expected… others completely surprising. The arguments were also funny and very real. Of course MSport compensated each person with cool merchs. Great games aren’t decided in a single moment. The roar, the goal, the celebrations are the climax of a longer build-up shaped by preparation, habits, and belief. Two Worlds, One Game. MSport’s new TVC begins in the quiet before kickoff — the moment when players and fans alike prepare. Though their rituals differ, both share the same anticipation: players sharpen skills, fans ready jerseys, debates, and stats. Matchday starts long before the whistle. Play Where You Belong. The campaign challenges the idea of fans as passive spectators. With MSport, preparation becomes participation. Research, choices, and stakes transform watching into active involvement. Passion meets preparation, and fans step into the game with conviction. Informed Choices. Real Stakes. The TVC mirrors athletes and fans: a Chelsea player adjusts his kit, a fan adjusts his gear; a player studies footage, a fan studies odds. Both walk toward their moment. A penalty on the pitch, a bet at home — two climaxes, one shared experience. MSport’s message is simple: everyone has a role in the game. The match doesn’t start at kickoff. It starts with belief. Another match lost! At this point, I think Arsenal Players themselves are allergic to titles. 6 points to go with Man City having an outstanding game against them. Yeah Man City are serial winners so I am pretty sure they will take care of business. It is officially a curse at this point |
Just a few weeks ago, talks of Arsenal pulling off a historic quadruple were everywhere. The optimism was loud, the confidence was high, and for many Arsenal fans, it felt like everything was finally aligning. Fast forward to now, and that dream has taken a serious hit. An earlier defeat to Man City in the Carabao Cup final, followed by a 2–1 loss to Southampton in the FA Cup, has effectively ended the quadruple conversation. In typical football fashion, what once looked like destiny has aged like milk. The game itself summed up the unpredictability of football. Arsenal had the quality on paper, the momentum, and the expectation, but Southampton showed grit, discipline, and took their chances when it mattered. That’s the beauty and heartbreak of knockout football — one bad day and the narrative flips instantly. For fans, this is a reminder that football seasons are marathons filled with twists, not straight lines. One moment you're counting trophies, the next you're recalculating priorities. Now, attention shifts to the remaining competitions and whether Arsenal can still salvage silverware from what once looked like a historic campaign. “We are all praying for them at this point… prayers need to be sent up,” my hardcore Man United fan friend joked this morning. In his words, “we must pin Arsenal down and give them at least one trophy this season.” Interestingly, moments like this are what make following matches even more engaging — the debates, predictions, and “what happens next” conversations. Many fans have already started weighing Arsenal’s chances in their remaining fixtures, comparing form, squad depth, and momentum across rivals. If you’re keeping tabs on how the title race and other competitions might unfold, checking out match insights, fixtures, and odds on MSport.com can add another layer to the experience. With the launch of the “Play Where You Belong” TVC, it’s also interesting to see how expectations shift after results like this, especially as the season enters its decisive phase. Football moves really fast. Yesterday’s quadruple talk, today’s reality check. The only question now is - how do Arsenal respond?
|
Man City might have just reignited Arsenal F.C.’s trophyless curse with their 2–0 win at the Emirates Stadium to lift the Carabao Cup. With the pressure mounting, the big question is: Are Arsenal strong enough mentally and tactically to bounce back from this loss and avoid another trophyless season? Some fans, and even Arsenal supporters themselves (though I think they’re being a bit delusional), believe this is finally their year. Quadruple flying up and down lol. Others think it’s the same old story — promise, pressure, then collapse when it matters most. I honestly hope they win the Premier League though… Just because they’ve had a solid run so far. Anything less, and I might start believing this curse talk for real. What do you think? Can Arsenal recover from this setback? Is the pressure already getting to them? Or are they still strong favourites for the title? Remember to visit www.msport.com for all things football entertainment

After a 5-2 at the Paris Saint German Stadium, Chelsea is set to do a spectacular turn around and win this game. They did it before, they can do it again. Who ae you pulling up for tonight? yeah I am going to do the unthinkable and carry Chelsea full win tonight. Of course I'd be doing that with MSport. They somehow give you better chances in these kind of games. Meanwhile fans on the street says otherwise. Lol join me laugh and cry here shaa https://youtube.com/shorts/4rr1YTZf3cM?feature=share

Well I guess my prediction was not so far off. 5-2! Damn! I knew PSG would be coming for their pound of flesh especially at home but that scoreline is crazy! Though we'd say that Chelsea tried their best. Pedro consistently giving us our ROI on his head and Plamer that seem to have started coming out of his heat hibernation recently. Of course if it's not Neto or Garnacho fooling, it'd be someone else. And that person was Filip Jörgensen. Man had a terrible night and somehow transferred it to all Chelsea fans all over the world. Now second leg is next week. I doubt there'd be any home advantage cos stanford bridge dey shake. However bad it is shaa, if we must cynthia Oforie ourselves home, let's atleast do it with dignity. I am hoping for a Draw, Inshallah. Happy weekend to Arsenal fans shaa. Like play E be like say the curse go break this season. lol |
