Popular Gospel Artist Eric Arubayi, dies after a brief illness. Eric who came into limelight in the music scene due to his participation in the West African Idol maiden edition where he finished as third runner up with Timi Dakolo winning the prize. Eric Arubayi who passed on today after complaining of feeling week. He was rushed to Delta State Teaching Hospital. Late Eric is survived by a wife, Chinonso and one child. May his gentle soul rest in peace

As part of an agenda to create a new sense of efficiency and add meaning to service, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service Muhammadu Babandede (MFR) yesterday commissioned five (5) self contained blocks of officers quarters at the Seme Control Post, Lagos State. The building construction which was handled by foremost Construction company called Messrs TILT Construction Company was delivered to the NIS before its completion date. The Comptroller General who thanked the Company for delivering before the actual date, also motivated the Officers to put in their all in carrying out their duty.

Wonders will never cease to happen in Nigeria. A thief in Port-harcourt stole the phone of a lady who is a student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University and went as far as uploading his picture on her Facebook and posting an update also.
The thief on Thursday uploaded his picture with a short post of 'I mind you' on the victims Facebook page. The owner of the phone Ms. Gabrilla Uchechi Eberechukwu was said to have been robbed at gunpoint by the guy on Wednesday. When confronted by one of Gabrilla's friend Ifunanya Joy, he was bold enough to reply with a mocking emoji promising to look for the friend with witchcraft.
The friend who said she is still in shock on how bold the guy was. She went further to say, 'Gabby doesn't even have an idea of what happening on her Facebook page.'
Pictures of the guy and screenshots of the exchange of insults has been circulating around online with request on leads on how to track him down. No wonder there is a saying that the evil that men do surprises the devil himself.

February 7th was a day hell was let loose on a cripple named Chijioke Italian who was severely assaulted by two Army officials for wearing Camo (Army uniform) in Onitsha, Anambra State.
This inhuman act was carried out by two soldiers who are presently facing court martial over the act. This inhuman act which was captured on video which later went viral saw the soldiers hitting and dragging the crippled man on the ground while he was begging for mercy while people gathered to look.
Yesterday, the Nigerian Army paid a visit to Chijioke Uraku to mend fences and apologize for the inhuman treatment meted out to him by what they referred to as 'military outcast'. The Army promised to look after his welfare and make sure he gets justice.

A 28years old female banker appeared in Tinubu Magistrates Court over an alleged assault on a Divisional Police Officer. The accused who was later identified as Adaobi Obi, works with one of the new generation banks in the city of Lagos. The Prosecutor Inspector Ben Ekundayo who represented the force stated in his declarations that the accused on Jan 27th around 6pm, assaulted the Police Officer who was carrying out his official duties at United Bank for Africa (UBA) headquarters, Marina, Lagos. He went further to state that the accused tore the uniform of the DPO in the process and left some bruises on his face.
When SP Sina Olunlade, was called up to the dock to state his part of the story, he narrated that he was trying to control the traffic of cars and the accused Ms. Adaobi got impatient and hurled insults at him which led to her assaulting him. Although, the Magistrate Mr. Ade Adefulire granted the accused bail in the sum of 200,000 naira after she pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of breach of peace and assault.
The court finally adjourned the case to Feb 28th for mention.

On 9th February, the US Senate finally confirms Senator Jeff Sessions as the new attorney general after a series of obstacles against his appointment.
Sessions who was faced with criticisms over his poor civil rights records and series of racism accusations was confirmed after he won the vote of the Senate by 52-47.
Sessions speaking after his confirmation said, "This caricature of me from 1986 was not correct". He went further to share his thoughts concerning the discrimination of the African-American brothers and sisters in the past.
Senator Jeff (70) who is from Alabama, will serve as the 84th US attorney general. With reactions from social media, it seems Sessions shares the same immigration ban idea with Donald Trump who he has always voiced his support.
