PDP Convention: Senator Adeleke congratulates Ayu, others, says party ready to rescue Nigeria Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke has described the successful conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention as a demonstration of the party's resolve to rescue Nigeria from total collapse, hailing the emergence of Senator Iyorchia Ayu as National Chairman as a better deal for the party. Senator Adeleke lauded party leaders, particularly Governors on the platform of the party for reliving Nigerians hope through the Convention, noting that PDP has again showed to the whole world its ideals and avowed commitment to democracy. "With the unanimity and sense of consensus that largely prevailed in arriving at the new leadership of our great Party at the Convention, it is clear to Nigerians that PDP is prepared to restore the country on the path of greatness," the former Senator noted in a statement. "This is why I'm pleased to congratulate Senator Iyorchia Ayu and other newly elected members of the National Working Committee of our great Party, PDP. As their emergence reflects, it is a great win for PDP and I share the overwhelming confidence of party leaders and members across the country on pivoting the party to success. "The understanding and consideration for the larger interest of our great party exhibited by those who lost out in their aspirations to serve PDP in one capacity or the other is highly commendable. More than anything, they have demonstrated that rescuing Nigeria outweigh any other consideration and just like many leaders of our party, I am proud of them." Senator Adeleke who acknowledged the increasing desire of Nigerians to end APC misrule, impressed on the new leadership of PDP to make peace building, broader reconciliation a focal point of their agenda to restore the old glory of the party. "It can not be argued that APC has failed and Nigerians are desirous of an alternative, which PDP eminently offers, hence, we need to bring everyone together to work for the restoration of PDP to power at the centre in 2023," he said. "I'm sure that this new journey will bring expected outcome for our party and Nigerians in particular, seeing that PDP win 2023 and a whole lot of states so that the country can get out of the misery that APC ineptitude has brought it." Signed: Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke.
