The sound of her feet, kept on destroying the silence of the environment. She hated him. She hated the fact that he could make her feel this way. Bisi felt lumps in her throat. She tried to remember what she could have done to deserve the way he treated her. She swallowed the lump. She heard Tomi’s steps after her. It was getting closer. Holding her skirt that kept on moving with the wind as her feet moved forward. She felt him closer. “Stay away from me Tomi. I hate you.” She screamed, hating the way her voice sounded. “Just stop Bisi. It’s still the same thing.” He responded, equally screaming but with a clear voice. He ruined it. He ruined her birthday. She felt a hand on her waist, stopping her from running further. Without words, she felt his lips on hers. Seeking entry into her mouth. His tongue kept pushing her lips wider. She tried to kick him, wiggling from his hold. She had to keep reminding herself. He was a liar. And, all this, the joining of their lips was nothing, but a lie. “I’m sorry.” she heard him whispered against her lips. The tears dropped then, a voice she hardly recognize, mimicking that of a mouse said. “You promise me a Gucci shoe, but you bought that non-designer shit.” “I know. And, I’m sorry. I’ll get you a better one.” he sealed it with a kiss. Read more from Wendara here: https://www.inspireaders.com/writer/wendara/ |
I discovered a letter written by one of the maths students to a girl at a secondary school. Here is what the guy wrote… Dear Cynthia, with reference to the syllabus of my feelings, I want to prove that the locus of my point is directly proportional to your heart. On seeing you, I feel like a triangle with only 2 angles, the third one being you. At times I feel like a circle without a circumference and a tangent without a gradient. We are like two simultaneous equations without solutions. You never seem to notice that I am a point lying at your linear equation. Your smile make my mind rotate 360 degrees anticlockwise and applying a translation, I finally get your image. You are factors of a quadratic equation but still feel two disjoint sets. You are the hypotenuse of my right angled triangle and on using either sine or cosine, we can obtain a real solution. I tried to deal with you on a calculator version but the probability of success is very low. My letter consists of only one section to be answered without a calculator and the answer is to be given “Yes” in three significant figures. My life without you is like coordinates of a quadratic turning point. My love for you is infinite like the graph of Tan 90 and Tan 270 degrees.
