Car Talk / Re: Camry 2.4 Automatic Transmission Problems. Please Help! by Johnson213: 8:26am On Jan 08, 2014
I'm afraid you serviced your transmission a little too late. You need to run a scan on the transmission to know its state before you proceed further. A change or rebuild of the transmission may be around the corner. This is the bitter truth that you may have to face early before you start spending your hard earned money unnecessarily.

The manufacturer specified transmission fluid for your car is as stated below:

5 speed (type A5SR1) = APOLLOIL ATF RED-1 (Part 0450000140999) Quantity: 2Litres. You should be able to get this from the dealer shops or order online with the part number above. The choice is yours. Good luck on your transmission service.

Please specify your engine capacity as in whether 2.4, 2.5, 3.5 or 3.3 and also check your manual to know what kind of transmission your vehicle carry, whether 4-speed or 5-Speed. This is very important before you change your transmission fluid. Good luck.

P0010 - Camshaft Position(CMP) Actuator / Intake/left/front bank 1 - Circuit Malfunction

Probable Cause: Wiring, CMP Actuator, ECM.

All the best but be sure of the code whether P0100 or P0010.

Your car has three major faults.

1. P0300, 0301, 0302, 0303, 0304
This is a case of random / multiple cylinder misfire. You will need to replace the spark plugs (4 in number) and perhaps service the injector nozzles. if this codes still persist, then you may need to replace the ignition coils but I pray you will not have to get to this point.

2. P0016 - Crankshaft Position / Camshaft Position bank 1 Sensor A -correlation
Probable cause - Wiring, Crankshaft position sensor, Camshaft Position Sensor or mechanical fault.

3. P0100 - Mass Airflow Sensor / Volume Airflow Sensor - Circuit Malfunction
Probable Cause - MAF/VAF Sensor.

Once you fix all these, your car should be running fine again. Best of luck with your repairs

Drain and refill your transmission oil with T-IV(JWS3309) 3Litres. You can google the picture and location of the solenoid on your transmission. Tell your mechanic to help you replace it and then let the error code be wiped off after the repairs.

P0741-Torque Converter Clutch(TCC) Solenoid-Performance or Stuck Off.

Probable cause : Wiring, TCC Solenoid.

Source: Autodata Software

You need a knowledgeable rewire to help trace the wiring leading to the TCC Solenoid to be sure it is ok first. If ok, then the culprit is the TCC Solenoid which you will need to replace asap to avoid the risk of having to replace your whole transmission. A stitch in time saves nine. Best of luck.
