Car TalkHigh-pitched Squeaking Noise From Engine by Johnwicked(op): 4:29pm On Nov 17, 2021
Hello NL,
I drive a 2007 Lexus ES & I have slowly noticed this high squeaking noise when I put it in reverse or drive (this is usually after I’ve driven it earlier, not on a cold start) but soon after driving a bit it stops, I’m only concerned cus I usually hear this noise from very old vehicles, would like to know what might be the cause. Thanks.

grafixdon:
Change to 17" rims
It is already a 17” rim, I was advised to get a 60 or 65 width instead of the 55 it has now

My mechanic just raised mine a little and the shape is still very much intact.
I think the rubbers used is the same thickness, about an inch. You didn’t notice any difference with the driving either?

Return to factory default, then get bigger rims.
Bigger rims or bigger tyres?
Car Talk2007 Lexus ES 350 Bad Ground Clearance by Johnwicked(op): 11:36pm On Aug 03, 2021
Hello NL, I recently bought the 2007 ES350 but I noticed the ride is too low to the ground, after much contemplation I went to get the shocks jacked (added an inch of rubbers) now it’s higher but I feel the shape of the car has spoiled, also driving performance feels different (could be physiological)

I’m planning on taking it off but idk, Is there an alternative to solving ground clearance (maybe bigger tyres) or does this added rubbers later relax and compress over time?

Looking forward to your much helpful tips

You don't need to register before you drive it down. I hope its customs duty was appropriately paid.

If you don't want to drive it and you can afford the cost of trucking down it down to Abuja, go for the option instead.
What does the trucking expenses look like?

Hello NL, I recently cleared my vehicle in Lagos but I am based in Abuja and would like to move it over. Is there a logistics company available for that? Also if I decide to use a private driver do I have to register the vehicle first to avoid unnecessary police wahala? Any advise would be nice thanks

I’m honestly tired of that 08 Accord/Camry .. pure water cars and boring machines. I needed something with a little more power

How much do you set aside monthly for your rent ?
How much do you set aside monthly for your upkeep ie feeding, data, dstv, electricity etc ?

How much do you set aside monthly for your dependants ie parents, siblings, girlfriends, padi men etc ?

How much can you set aside monthly for maintenance of this car and will it affect your personal comfort ?

If you love the car and feel you can afford its upkeep then go ahead but I'll advice you get comprehensive insurance from a reputable company just in case. Its also not a car for roadside mechanics who'll most likely do more harm than good in the long run.

Enjoy your ride bro
Thanks for the thorough analysis, this makes sense. I just don’t want to buy something that is a fuel guzzler even tho I understand it’s a V6, can’t be compared to a Corolla

Hello NL

So I’ve been contemplating getting the 2007/08 ES350 ride for a long time, I am a graduate on a 300k-500k salary with no pressing responsibilities but house rent. I recently came across a clean US Toks for 3.5/3.7m. I plan on using it to commute to and fro work comfortably, I’m not sure of it’s maintenance cost and it’s general fuel consumption so I’d like to know if this might be above my budget. Thanks
