Anybody can wear hijab, but not where it is unsuitable. Even in Christianity, there are many regulations which most Christians no longer observe or take serious.

Laws, be they religious, or common, are meant for mankind; but mankind is not made for laws. In other words, mankind must at every stage abandon any laws that are no longer in tune with the time.

If, as is obvious, the use of Hijab or Burqa restrains a female's vision in today's fast-moving world with fast moving objects like vehicles, trains, motorcycles, and bicycles, etc., why must a female be constrained to wear those hijab and burqas that constrain her vision? These days, some Westerners even taunt Muslims with the saying that "Muslims Bag their Females."
if u choose to disobey mans law ur punishment would come from man...covering of the hair and other body parts is an instructiom from God. Muslims who sincerely believe in this understand the importance of disobeying that instruction. It would be wrong to force them not to obey wat they believe are are willing to uphold...no mattee how fast moving or how slow anything is when u believe theres life after death ud want to protect ur salvation soo if one man made law wants to interfere with Gods instruction den those who believe would reject it. Pls be objective on your reasoning. Wearing it isnt mandatory on anyone, I dont see how it affects others so why ban it

Nigeria is a secular state, meaning you should not bring your religion to school period! you can't wear a hijab to school, same way you cant wear a rosary or chaplet.
If we are not to bring religion into schools then I believe morning devotions and fellowships should also be banned. As nigerians we all have our differences both ethnic and religion the problem is our inability to objectively tolerate these diffferences and just focus on being nigerian. Its easier to discredit a fellow nigerian based on his religion or ethnicity more than his or her personal attitude. Covering of the hair isnt an option in islam, its mandatory. So once that is altered, a whole lot can spring out of it.

May God really save us in this country, iv read a lot of post here and all seem to be for the hijab ban. Im sorry but in my opinion I believe most of us here are judging based on the current crisis going on in the world as to how islam is potrayed as violent and conservative. We forget that long before now students have being wearing hijabs to schools without complains. Its part of the religion. Every morning from mondays to sunday christens do thier morning devotion, on asemblies mon to thursday they pray on asemblies leaving just friday for muslims. If we really must grow in this nation we need to understand how to tolerate our differences by understanding objectively the reasons behind issues perhaps we would begin to see how all the atrocities being displayed over the world are extremly anti-islam.

I don't think some know the meaning of 'public' school. I have always said it long ago, religion, ANY religion should be kept out of public schools. If anyone wants to wear anything relating to their religion or recite anything, go to a religious school. Simple. There are several religious schools around. Why should you import any religion into what belongs to the public? Note, public includes atheists too.

We all want a united Nigeria, yet at public meetings, we ask people to pray according to their religious beliefs. Psychologically, it divides. Now Nigeria has degenerated to a stage where we don't trust ourselves. We select muslim/christian leaders or vice versa. If we are serious about moving forward, we better make religion private. Many advanced/advancing countries don't have religion in it's public sphere. People practise in private and that doesn't make them lesser citizens.
