England and Chelsea star Tammy Abraham has extended his contract extended by another year to 2023 after a clause was activated which he was required to reach15 Premier League goals.

The sensational striker was on the scoresheet in the Blues' 3-2 win over Crystal Palace after a long goal drought. The win against Crystal Palace has made the blue's Champion's league race promising.

With the England Star original deal due to expire in 2022, the clause in his contract gives the blues some further breathing room as they consider the forward's long-term future.

The blues manager, Frank Lampard was extremely happy to see the striker break his goal drought against Palace, with his rhythm having been disrupted due to an ankle injury sustained against Arsenal in January.

"It will be really important for Tammy because he is desperate for goals," Lampard told reporters.

"He hasn’t scored a for a while, it helps his confidence and it is good for me. It gives me other options. He came on later in the game, he scored the winning goal and I'm pleased for my strikers."

The manager also spoke about Abraham putting his contract talks out of his mind and how he expects an agreement to be reached with Blues director Marina Granovskaia, who will lead the talks.

"I think on Tammy’s contract we’re not at a critical level with it and I’ll leave that between him and the club to discuss that side of it," Lampard told reporters. "I don’t think it’s something in his mind now. It certainly shouldn’t be.

"What needs to be in his mind now is these games we have coming up and how much he can give us on the pitch, whether he’s coming on as a sub or starting games. He has had a really good season.

"He hasn’t scored so much in the second half of the season and as a young player, it’s always clear that when you have those periods there’s only one way out of it and that’s work and repetition in training and trying to make the most out of every moment you get.

"I just think that’s where Tammy’s at. The contract will hopefully look after itself. It’s between him and the club."

The former Southampton defender, Virgil van Dijk, has claimed to have rejected offers from other Premier League sides like Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea before switching to Liverpool from Southampton in January 2018.

Manchester United loanee Odion Ighalo says he hopes his loan deal at Manchester United is extended until the Premier League season is completed.

The former Nigerian International joined United from Chinese Super League (CSL) side Shanghai Shenhua in January and has a contract until 31 May.

“I would like to finish the season if it’s possible,” Ighalo told BBC Sport.

“I was in good form, good shape, scoring goals and now we’ve stopped now for over a month. I’ve given it my best and hopefully we’ll come back to play.

“The team had a good momentum before the pandemic started. At the moment I’m on loan, and this will cut short my time at the club.”

BBC Sport understands United are keen to extend Ighalo’s contract.

“The club, myself, every footballer is going through a lot because we can’t do what we love and what we know how to do best, so we’re just thinking about that for now and to finish the season before we start thinking about the contract,” said Ighalo.

“I just want everyone to be safe and see what the future holds.”

United are fifth in the table with nine games remaining.

Ighalo said the Premier League will make the right decision in order to ensure players are “safe and healthy” if and when play resumes.

Serie A giants Juventus have been linked with a move for Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, reports Sportsbams.com.ng

According to a report in Calciomercato, the champions have identified the Foxes’ star as the main man to bolster their midfielder next season.

France and Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has been awarded the Ligue 1 Golden Boot following the cancellation of 2019-20 season due to coronavirus.

According to reports in France, Mbappe was crowned the Ligue 1 top scorer on Thursday by the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP)

The teenage sensation emerged the league’s top scorer despite being level on goals with Monaco’s Wissam Ben Yedder.

Seria A side, Inter Milian allegedly is not willing to pay €12 million to sign Nigerian International Victor Moses on a permanent basis from Chelsea according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com..

The Chelsea forward joined Inter on a six month loan deal in January and as part of that deal, the Nerazzurri obtained an option to buy at €12 million.

Laliga President Javier Tebas has claimed that the Covid-19 spread could be curtailed well enough within two months from now so that the 2019/20 campaign could resume latest June 28.

“We will have to stick to the stages laid out by the Spanish president. It has been an important day for us. Although, we started out with the bad news from France, the president has laid out the de-escalation plan. Former Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino has revealed he is willing to return as manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

The Argentine manager left Spurs in November after serving the club for five years due to his long run of poor performance.

Former Chelsea forward, Cesc Fabregas has announced that his great-grandmother has beaten coronavirus at the age of 95.

Earlier this month, the midfielder said his great-grandmother had been infected with the virus.

Juventus forward Paulo Dybala has tested positive for the novel coronavirus for the fourth time in six weeks.

Dybala affirmed on March 21 that he and his girlfriend Oriana Sabatini had tested positive for the coronavirus after his first positive test for the disease.

According to Spanish programme El Chiringuito, Dybala has had a total of four tests in six weeks as a result of his initial diagnosis, with his most recent coming back positive.

Dybala recently spoke out about fighting the disease, and explained how he had been struggling to breathe.

He added that he and his girlfriend were feeling much better, but it seems the forward is struggling to shake the illness.

“Luckily [we are] much better, these days we do not have any symptoms,” said Dybala.

“I had stronger symptoms, I got tired very quickly, when I wanted to train, I was short of breath after five minutes. There we noticed that something was not right and through the tests the club did we were told that we were positive.

“From there we had more symptoms, such as cough, tired body and when we slept I felt very cold, but from the club they had told us that we were going to be fine so we had to be calm.”

Dybala was one of three Juve stars to contract the coronavirus after Daniele Rugani and Blaise Matuidi were confirmed cases.

Arsenal has been reported to have offered Chelsea Brazilian winger Willian as they look to replace wantaway striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Willian is due to become a free agent this summer, and has been linked with Arsenal, Liverpool, and Inter Milan, having refused to be offered a new two-year deal from Chelsea.

FIFA is proposing topping the number of changes allowed in 90 minutes from three to five - with a sixth in extra time of knock-out games - to help combat injuries with more games to be reduced into a shorter amount of time.


“When competitions resume, such competitions are likely to face a congested match calendar with a higher than normal frequency of matches played in consecutive weeks,” a FIFA spokesperson said.

“Safety of the players is one of FIFA’s main priorities. One concern in this regard is that the frequency of matches may increase the risk of potential injuries due to a player overload.

“In light of this and the unique challenge faced globally in delivering competitions according to the originally foreseen calendar, FIFA proposes a larger number of substitutions be temporarily allowed at the discretion of the relevant competition organiser.

“In competitions where less than five substitutions are currently allowed, each team would now be given the possibility to use up to five substitutions, with the possibility of an additional substitution remaining during extra time where relevant.”

Under FIFA's proposals, the rule change would apply until December 31, 2021, meaning all competitions in the 2020-21 season would also allow five substitutions - however, there would still only be three breaks in play per team permitted for substitutions in order to prevent matches becoming fragmented.

Visitors are now not allowed to enter the country at all.

The FCO explained the details in its latest travel advice to Britons, updated today.

“With effect from 19 March only UAE Citizens will be allowed to enter the UAE,” said the Foreign Office

“All UAE Residents who are abroad will not be allowed to re-enter the UAE for a period of at least two weeks.

“This period could be extended. Please contact your nearest UAE Embassy for further advice.

“Visitors are not allowed to enter the UAE until further notice.

“If you are transiting through a UAE airport to another destination please check with your carrier before travelling.”

The FCO added: “The UAE authorities have stated that any violation of instructions and procedures put in place to limit the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) will be treated as a crime punishable by law.”

There are currently 113 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UAE.

This week the FCO advised against all but essential travel outside the UK for 30 days.

“If you now need to change or cancel your travel plans, follow these steps,” said the FCO.

Contact your airline, travel company, cruise line or other transport and accommodation providers
Get in touch with your insurance provider
Continue to follow the NHS coronavirus guidance.
The government added: “As countries respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, including travel and border restrictions, the FCO advises British nationals against all but essential international travel.

“Any country or area may restrict travel without notice.”

The raging epidemic seems not to be slowing down any minute as toll rises in Nigeria. Five new cases confirmed today has risen the number of infected people to 8.


According to the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, the new cases had a travel history to the UK and US.

According to the list released, out of over 100 ranked Universities in Nigeria, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria came out first, beating the University of Lagos, and Obafemi Awolowo University to second and third places respectively. The 4th position is the University of Ibadan.

Other Universities at the top include the University of Ilorin at 5th, University of Nigeria, Nsukka 7th, while the University of Benin, University of Abuja and University of Port Harcourt occupy the 8th, 9th, and 10th positions respectively.

The bottom-ranked universities include: Crescent University, Abeokuta at 108th, Rhema University, Aba at 109, Wesley University of Science and Technology, Ondo State at 110th and lastly Samuel Adegboyega University, Ogwa ranked 111th. With few other unranked universities.
