OFE NSALA (White Soup) | Chief & JOMO Nigerian Comedy

When “Feel Free” Goes Wrong: The Hilarious Lessons from Chief JOMO’s Ofe Nsala Skit

We’ve all been there—trying to be a generous host, offering a guest anything they want, only to watch in sheer horror as they order the most expensive item on the menu.

That exact mix of shock, regret, and comedy is at the heart of Chief JOMO’s hit skit, “I Said ‘Eat Anything’ He Ordered 10K Ofe Nsala.”

If you haven't watched it yet, here is a breakdown of why this video is so painfully relatable and funny.

The Setup: Generosity without Boundaries
The video starts on a familiar note: Chief JOMO plays the benevolent host.

In true Nigerian fashion, he extends hospitality to a guest, telling him to feel at home and order whatever his heart desires. It’s the ultimate gesture of goodwill—until the guest actually takes him at his word.

The Twist: Enter the ₦10,000 Ofe Nsala
Instead of going for a modest plate of rice or a simple swallow, the guest aims straight for the top tier and orders a massive ₦10,000 bowl of Ofe Nsala (White Soup).

For the uninitiated, Ofe Nsala is a rich, delicious delicacy from Eastern Nigeria traditionally made with fresh catfish, goat meat, or chicken, thickened with yam.

It’s fit for royalty—and its price tag in a restaurant reflects that. Seeing a ₦10,000 bill for a casual lunch instantly sends Chief JOMO into a state of visible financial panic and silent regret.

Why It Hits Home
The brilliance of Chief JOMO’s comedic timing lies in how universal the situation is:
1. The "Host's Dilemma": You want to look big, generous, and hospitable, but your bank account is begging you to set boundaries.

2. The Unapologetic Guest: Everyone has that one friend who takes "order whatever you want" as a personal challenge to find the most expensive item available.

3. The Silent Calculation: The funniest moments come from Chief JOMO trying to maintain a calm, unbothered expression while doing intense mental math in his head.

The Takeaway
Chief JOMO's skit delivers top-tier African humor by capturing everyday social interactions and pushing them to their funniest extremes.
Next time you host a friend or take someone out to eat, remember the golden rule: Always give options, or risk paying for a ₦10,000 bowl of Ofe Nsala yourself!
