I love how we are investing billions in education. We've heard a 138 % increase in the number of TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training)admissions. We are investing in humans, which is very key. Healthcare is another sector that we are trying. In Africa's HDI ranking,we are at position four,we can only get better! Below is an excerpt from our budget policy statement 2019 (BPS 2019) Kur17:

Yes,so much more has happened. If we achieve our Medium Term Plan 2018-2022(MTP 2018-2022)....We would be at good places. We just need to actualize like 80% of this and boom the whole country will break into a song and dance! It's doable with the right people and passion! Kur17: |

But this method also fails to count for different price regimes or taxes in different countries! Our beer tax is one of the highest in the world but our beverage industry is one of Africa's best.People still drink anyways no matter the taxes and it's normal for them because that's the prices! Our sin tax is very punitive, yet this industries flourish. I guess all metrics have their flows! It's interesting seeing that this list would change if you factor in per capita PPP for example! theenchanter: |
That's only a valuation and it was in 2017? Looking at the Knight Frank's report,Kenya can only be compared with either South Africa or Nigeria in the property market! This is what the article said, don't celebrate too quick! Nairobi "more lucrative" They, however, said that rents have been falling in Dar even as growth remains steady in Nairobi, making the Kenyan capital more lucrative in terms of return on investment. “Honestly, we are struggling to sell space in Dar. So based on a long-term view, Nairobi’s capital value will be higher,” said Ben Woodhams, the managing director of Knight Frank – a property firm with a footprint in Kenya and Tanzania. “At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how much it costs to construct a building but how much returns it generates,” he added. The World Bank report, however, says Nairobi has the highest replacement value for its built-up area and built-floor area ahead of Dar, Addis Ababa and Kigali, even as it lags the global standards. “Our analysis of imagery from satellites and geographic information systems (GIS) confirms that in African cities, capital investment not only appears low near the urban core, but rapidly declines outside it.” Mr Woodhams said property markets in Dar and Nairobi tell of different stories since the majority of new buildings in Tanzania are government-funded while Kenya’s is private sector-driven. He said that the swanky public buildings in Dar are likely to generate near zero-returns in the near term since they are occupied by parastatals and government departments, meaning Dar is expected to record a drop in capital value should the lull in the private sector activity persist. Nigerians haven't even hacked Nigeria itself, let alone West Africa. How can they be the biggest players in this continent's so as to influence this continent's geopolitics? edon21: |
Scary thoughts? This accidents happens almost anywhere! Trains derail, airplanes get lost, roads curve in,sewage pipes burst-they are accidents and happen everywhere and at anytime.Don't be so daft. So,if a Kenya Airways flights crushes today, will it be the wonders of wonders? abbeg: |
But what's the percentage difference in our PPP values? If that value is divided by the total population, what are the figures? If you are going to accept PPP,then be ready to accept ppp per capita! Kazikazi: |
What our currencies can buy in our countries forgetting about the value of the product or the service ones get.How can you compare the price of a haircut or bread in Nairobi and Ndjamena then conclude that the Chadian currency has more value because it looks cheaper to buy products there? theenchanter: |
Kenya is the fifth wealthiest country in the whole of Africa. This might be the best method of assessing a country's economic might as it calculates wealth held by individuals and not the one that passes through the government. And when this wealth is given in per capita calculations, our position is even better! And South Africa with a more bigger export figure and GDP per capita is trounced by both Nigeria and Egypt.PPP itself isn't as common as compared to GDP when doing economic comparisons! What about per capita income PPP? Kazikazi: |

While Kenya was trading stocks at the local market since the 1950's. Samsobo and company were busy hunting and gathering rats! The building where the stock trade used to happen is now the Sarova Stanley Hotel! 1. Since 1902, The Sarova Stanley prides itself as Kenya's first luxury hotel and the region's only place where African hospitality has been refreshed ever since. 2. Kenya's first locally brewed beer was served at Sarova Stanley's long bar in 1923. 3. The Exchange Bar at the hotel was once the site of Nairobi's first Stock Exchange, from 1954 until 1991 before they moved. This city was buzzing since time in memorial!
