Hey dude . what do you want to know .. Lagos is a bustling city, it's an economic nerve centre, no doubt .. but why would over 21 million people be cramped in a space barely 2/3 that of london? Accra is much livable than Lagos, no doubt .. popizaino: |
the varied incidence of poverty is a reflection of the varied exchange rates in Nigeria .. depending on the exchange rate considered, a certain level of poverty is arrived at .. Now consider this .. the minimum wage in Nigeria is N18,000 .. from this figure, what's the daily wage in USD? do the calculation and compare to the poverty line $1.9 or working poor $3.1 .. let's know the exchange rate you'll use for this . freshest4live: |
Your link looks at GDP per capita (PPP) .. the other chart depicts incidence of poverty; thus the percentage of people living in poverty .. the two measures are not same freshest4live: |
bros . feel free to bring in your own chart .. until then, this useless chart makes us understand the issue of poverty prevalence well well .. freshest4live: |
Generator? i don't know how to operate that .. in fact i am allergic to generator, to be honest .. ![]() freshest4live: |
i know right ... mtis: |
bros cool down .. this whole GDP thing.. do you get your share of it at then end of the year? .. if you do, just let me know when you get it so i come chill with you .. freshest4live: |
that's more like a TKO blow .. NairobiWalker: |
Hey dude, where in Lagos are you ? uzzyfire: |
chill bro .. i'm talking real .. where's okoko in Lagos.. i did some shopping at balogun market, marina ![]() uzzyfire: |
that's your dream place of living in lagos right? .. ![]() uzzyfire: |
i know right .. just as no matter how you try , 24/7 electricity and water supply is light years ahead of you .. uzzyfire: |
you're just a troll .. i lived in VI .. i couldn't have lived anywhere on the mainland, without power and water not to talk of the overcrowding .. that's not the life i'm used to .. where do you live? .. uzzyfire: |
i lived in VI, i know lekki, adjah, marina, Ikoyi, apapa, maryland, surulere, computer village, Ikeja and some other places on the mainland. i saw the eko atlantic project... i spent some days in Ogun, delta and benin states.. i know some places in those states arinzeejikonye: |
i need you to find out the GDP measure from that national government statistics . there should be a unit in charge of that. i know that of Ghana, the data is available to all on their website .. the last time i provided a link confirming the 90 trillion naira GDP by Osinbajo .. in that report, he stated that a budget of 7 trillion naira is not adequate for a 90 trillion naira economy .. we all know the budget passed yesterday was a little above 7 trillion naira .. what's the dollar value of this budget and that of the 90 trillion naira GDP .. freshest4live: |
lol .. i got to know about this Giant of Africa thing while in Nigeria .. i used to ask my colleagues what made them the giant and what are they proud of .. somehow the population makes them giant; it plays in their favour sometimes .. Nigerians like it when you massage their ego, so they feel great and good about themselves. they are at liberty to massage their own ego .. vaxx: |
Ghana is not the next best thing.. it's still a developing country .. we Ghanaians complain about our country too .. what i know is that Ghana has made much progress relative to other countries on the continent; i got to appreciate this progress much better after staying in Nigeria arinzeejikonye: |
first find out the institution responsible for measuring the GDP and know their most recent GDP figures. we can have some discussions on that. i don't get your point (highlighted text) freshest4live: |
Vaxx, it's very rare to find a Naija person engage you in an insightful discussion here. you should know this by now. vaxx: |
Nigeria's GDP was 90 trillion Naira in 2015 uzzyfire: |
bros don't get it twisted that i came here to hate .. i was only interested in having an insightful discussion .. if you don't want that, no problem .. i won't bother you or your folks .. no hard feelings . shervydman: |
i was just challenging you to come up with facts from credible sources. That's why i kept asking about your GDP in Naira, how it is measured and the institution in charge of that. Most of the folks i engaged while in Lagos demonstrated some level of ignorance which was surprising, giving their level of education. you'll find that same ignorance being exhibited in the discussions that go on here. i'll assume people intentionally distort the facts just to tease each other and joke around the topic of discussion .... Insightful discussions are becoming rare on this platform. Nowenuse: |
you think you're smarter than Osinbajo, huh? you're deceiving yourself Nowenuse:
|
your vice president doesn't know anything about your GDP huh? well done. http://nigeria.opendataforafrica.org/ Nowenuse: |
"Jealous and Hateful" is what you describe anyone who doesn't side with you .. Nothing new .. what you're experiencing is called FRUSTRATION .. Shaytun: |
you just like trolling .. i think you should go for your share of the GDP cos you're on your own uzzyfire: |
the GDP thing is a scam. i provided a reference too http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-37045276 vaxx: |
i quoted your vice president not some 2010 statistics .. your GDP figure is fraud? how many different exchange rates are prevailing now .. have they even removed the limit on Naira cards for international transaction? uzzyfire: |
that's more like it, your currency doesn't reflect the real value on the market .. just get your GDP as measured in Naira for 2015, then the exchange rate was around N197. Given your economy was in recession for 2016, maintain the GDP for 2015 and adjust it for the exchange rate for 2016 (since you guys have like 5 different exchange rates, you can choose the most favourably). the figure you'll get should be around $300 billion. that's more like it and not different from the figure reported here http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-37045276 .. your GDP figure is kind of cooked beans .. shervydman: |
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says the proposed N7 trillion budget for 2017 will not make a huge difference in Nigeria’s N90 trillion economy. https://www.thecable.ng/osinbajo-n7-trillion-2017-budget-wont-make-huge-difference You mean your vice president doesn't know the size of your economy? you can go through this report too .. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-37045276 shervydman: |
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says the proposed N7 trillion budget for 2017 will not make a huge difference in Nigeria’s N90 trillion economy. Is your economy N90 trillion Naira? https://www.thecable.ng/osinbajo-n7-trillion-2017-budget-wont-make-huge-difference uzzyfire: |
lol .. Most Nigerians lack understanding, i think .. everything is oya, fast fast.. they mistake someone with understanding for being not smart leathalbeast: |
