While reading the stats above, I keep wondering, how possible is it for someone to dominate football like Messi. How? How can you compare Ronaldo to Messi? How?

Damn!

I am not criticizing.

I am genuinely worried because that was how he started last season.

And he's supposed to be a mainstay this season cus I still don't trust Dembele.

If he knows he's still "upcoming" they better find how to sign someone at winter; even if it's Depay.
To complement the squad.
I think this season will be different for Dembele.

As for signings, hopefully we get the right man, and not another Griezmann.

Antsu Fati started the Nations league on fire for Spain.
Ever since he's dropped performances.

Let's hope and pray for him as he returns.
Were you expecting back to back fiery performances. Chill. Dude's still young. I meant upcoming. Reduce the expectations.

Funny how you made the man utd/ Van Gaal excuse for Delay but missed the same excuse for Griezmann.
You also missed the point that I'm not comparing the reason for their flops. I'm comparing the players..

You also missed the "thrive in" part of my comment.

However, Griezmann should get more of the sticks because our managers have been patient and still keep playing him. Still he keeps giving poor performances after poor performances.

Just like Depay, he's a good player but he should be limited.

Manu reject depay is better than someone that has been in balon d'or top 3 twice?

Griezmann just doesn't fit barca's style especially when messi is playing.
Man utd/van gaal style didn't fit depay.

let's say the truth , do you think if depay had a big team/platform that he could thrive in , he wouldn't have been a top star.

KDB had all the talent but was playing for Wolfsburg. Man city was a good platform to make him known.

Yes Griezmann is bigger than depay, but depay is 'better' than Griezmann , right now, in terms of attacking abilities.

bro you really hate this Griezman grin grin.. Cut him some slack na. Atleast he's good defensively.

We obviously can't get Depay until January and it seems boss Koeman doesn't count on Dembele grin. The match against Sevilla clearly showed us that we will still struggle against any big team. Its going to be a tough ride ahead
I've said it many times. In tough, cagey games , Griezmann can't be trusted.

He should play as a no.9 or 10 against cheap opponents that we can beat well.

Hmn

Tough question. But I'd answer you this way;

For now it's Dembele over Depay. He's simply better.

But one more injury from Dembele within his next 20 games, I mean just one injury!
And I would ship him out for Depay.
Apt!

I watched Memphis Depay and i must confess. The guy is really good. He is better than Griezman. He has speed and strength and he can take on players. He can also score
What else did you discover? cuz these are things we've talked about. You didn't discover trickery, and mobility unlike that fool called Griezmann that is just an empty barrel.or sorry, I mean, a defensive attacker.

This is of Messi tackling and being physical, winning the ball and pressing. You can't say physicality has no place in football. Prime Barca under Pep were physical when they needed to be. But they relied on their superior techniques to win

https://twitter.com/CrewsMat19/status/1313536895826169856?s=19[/quote]Can someone please define the term 'physical'. Because I've been seeing things here mean.

There is a certain level physicality needed to thrive in top football. Footballers are athletic, though some are super. Practically all teams have that. Barça too.

I think we're switching the word 'aggressive' with 'physical'.

That's why I said earlier that he's running out of excuses. The reason Koeman is playing him on the right was because he saw Deschamps play him in that same position for France. koeman thinks he played well, not just for offensive player but also for defensive play.

it's still early days though

These guys don forget na. That berbabeu 5-0 thrashing against a very physical Madrid side that boasted Lass, Pepe, Ramos, we passed and passed to the point CR7 even got tired of marking and started complaining to his teammates. We bin dey ball, as in, I no fit even explain am. It was art and we really coloured football then.
grin

Anytime we faced Madrid, they were always frustrated. Na Messi suffer sha. They vented their frustration on him, while he revenged by scoringgrin

But that 5-0 thrashing was something else. The complete dominance was totally unexpected. It was like Madrid were school boys still learning against pros.

Deschamps is really fighting for Griezmann o. They'll(griezou and Deschamps) be hoping Koeman listens to him.

Honestly, is there something Koeman sees in Depay that I'm missing?

Is it not the same Depay that flopped in Man Utd...same one that is nothing special...
I watched him in Man Utd and I pitied man Utd for having a player like Depay...I saw him as a waste...but somehow Koeman rates him?

Is it that I'm not seeing something Koeman sees or what?
At Man Utd? Since?

Have you watched any of his games at Lyon?

Honestly, Man Utd and van gaal didnt suit him. same with Alexis.

Watch his recent games, and I bet you'll fling Griezmann away.

I see someone is mischievously trying to twist the narrative.

There are skilful players who are actually very athletic and physical.
They do exist!

We are not sacrificing skilfulness on the altar of athleticism and physicality.

That's why we talked about a good blend of all.

And I repeat for emphasis THERE WOULD BE EXCEPTIONS FROM TIME TO TIME.

If you goan being very skilful players wey nor get bone for body sorry for you.

If you goan being athletic and rugby style players looking like undertakers wey nor get ball sense sorry for you too.
You should have just used Adama Traore as an example of athletic but lacking-ball-sense type of player.
However, the reason this 'being physical' argument doesn't fly is because, there already exist an achieved minimum level of physicality needed to thrive in top football in these top teams.

Barça, man city, Madrid and the likes aren't known for tilting towards the physical type of play. Still, they dominate. Why? Though they're not overly physical, they've achieved a required level of physical fitness to complement to arrays of talents in the teams.

The point is Skill, Talent and Intelligence will always rule.
Any extra workload for physicality/physical fitness na jara.
If you meet team wey sabi tricks, skills, shoot and all the necessary ingredients, na wiping go be the end result.

Barca of 2015 was also very powerful. And Guardiola also coached Barca to UCL triumph in 2010/2011 and those were prime Barca sides. With Xavi and Iniesta and co at the peak of their powers
The Barça of 2015 wasn't as powerful as 2010/2011.
The power of 2015 Barça was the MSN trio, the best trio ever. The friendship and cooperation of Messi, Neymar and Suarez was just insane. Iniesta, Alba and Rakitic helped

But the power of 2010/2011 or Guardiola's Barça was the whole team + Tiki Taka(beautiful football at Its peak). That was the Barça that will have over 70% ball possession whether home or away. That same Barça had the highest number of pass. They would pass around the opponent into the net. They made life miserable for teams. it got to a point that football fans sometimes complained of their overwhelming dominance.

I'm still yet to see a team as dominant as that team.

And this was against prime Barca in the past decade.
Physicality is always crucial in football
Against prime Barça?

Do you know what you're saying. Prime Barça was the best team in the world(across all sports). Prime barca was the sextuple Barça. The Barça that all teams ,physical or not, always received thrashing from. That Barça was UNPLAYABLE. However all empires that rise must fall.

as at the 7-1 thrashing and the La Liga crown loss, Barça was at a low those period. The world knew.
