Na wa for Nigerians with this backward thinking!
Any good thing our Leader do, is a politics rather appreciation at least. Either it is political or not, some would benefit from and wil change their life better.
You are talking like APC man that has nothing to offer, and always antagonized any good things done by his opponent...

It seems you are referring to yourself.
Don't you know it is so embarrassing for someone to leave a group without notice. To me, you are trying to tell the remaining members in the group that they are fools for staying.
Instead of you to justify yourself, you are here insulting a personality erroneously (element of proud heart). Mind you, you are insulting the wrong person.
Assuming you are the one that opened the group, will you accommodate such act of indiscipline!

We are still YOUTH, let us give impression that this country have a promising future with disciplined Citizen
EducationRe: Respect First Class Students In Public Universities by Joy83(m): 3:45pm On Sep 06, 2014
Cmfrt001: I trust my ABUSITES they won't comment because they alone alongside their lectures know what it means to even get a 3rd class from that school let alone a 1st class. The truth remains that it's not all about your class of degree but what you really have inside of the and how you intend to execute it because implementation is paramount. Please nairalanders, donot let results determine your future.
You talk like a novice undergraduate. By the time you graduate, you will realize the CLASS OF DEGREE matters. When it comes to getting a good job, there is discrimination about that, even when you want to further your education, especially if you long for any scholarship.
At that, even if you wanna go into business, you can't imagine how people will patronize and respect you when they know you are a first class or 2'1 graduate. But on a contrary, a business man with 3rd class or pass, people may think he is doing business out of frustration from getting a good job.

Lesson: Whatever you find your hands doing, do it well because you don't know which one will be more useful. Do not find excuse for failure as no one is born to fail...

CareerRe: Top 10 Most Demanded Jobs In The Oil And Gas Industry by Joy83(m): 8:34am On Aug 30, 2014
Syenite: Joy, with a good first degree(atleast a 2:1) in Geology u dnt need an M.Sc to get a job. I joined d Oil industry with a B.Sc in Geology and later went for an M.Sc in Energy and Petroleum Economics.
Getting an M.Sc b4 searching for job puts u at a disadvantage age-wise as u still have to apply as a trainee of which there are age limits. However if u finished with a 2:2 & feel the only way to better ur chance is an M.Sc then Good-Luck.
On issue choice of Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Engineering, u know ur competency level. Just b sincere to ur selve. it usually requires so much effort and a high IQ for some1 to switch from Geosciences to engineering. It is usually easier for people with first class and 2:1 to make such switch.
Thank you for your expedient response. I finished with 2:1(4point and above). Hmmmm, I always think about that age advantage as well. So pls advice me again now, I am 25years old and very hard working male as attested by my tutors.
CareerRe: Top 10 Most Demanded Jobs In The Oil And Gas Industry by Joy83(m): 8:02am On Aug 30, 2014
Syenite: Great thread.
God bless u xfire. It is threads like this that I like to see and not threads that will make fresh graduates and undergraduates feel the only thing u need to get a job is connection.

I am also an Oil and Gas expert. I have worked both in a servicing firm and currently with an E & P. Your are 99% right abt the top 10 specialised skills you mentioned.

Zeroing in on the ratio of Geoscientists to Engineers, it is only normal to have a ratio of 1:5, 6 or7. Geosciences is made of just two fields: Geology (80% of Geoscientists) and Geophysics. But Engineering is made up of multiple desciplines:Electrical, Mechanical, Petroleum, Civil, Chemical, Metallurgical, Production etc
In addition only mayb 1 or 2 Polytechnics offer Geology but almost all Polytechnics offer most of the engineering courses. This has there4 created a situation where we have a far less no. of Geoscientists compared to engineers in d market.

On the issue of having d necessary experiencee. How I got my first job as a trainee: The advert was for people with 2-5yrs experience in the field of Biostratigraphy (a branch of geology). I had zero experience bt still applied. I was called for test and interview and I got d job. I later learnt dat they could not get people of 2-5 yrs experience cos dey are already gainfully employed elsewhere so dey decided to take fresh graduates & den train dem to do d job.

Last bullet to d undergraduates ; academic excellence is the key to the Oil industry. First class or 2:1 in any of d Engineering or Geosciences field and u have a good chance.
Thank you for this enlightenment, I believe you are a graduate of geology which is the same as mine. Pls do you have any postgraduate degree? I don't have any company experience and currently trying to go for my MSc in Petroleum geology, am even now debating on whether to go for petroleum engineering.
What are the chances like for me or any advice in order to fit in adequately for oil n gas company?

RomanceRe: My Fiancee Went To NYSC And Changed by Joy83(m): 1:27pm On Aug 27, 2014
oludashmi: Just calm down. Communicate with her even if it's by sms now that you suspect some changes, your communication should be more of sharing whatever burden she's carrying.

Then, you need to know how far she has gone with the posting the guy is helping her with. She probably may be going thru some stress and so much call at that moment can be annoying.

If all attempt to get her attention is futile, then you can tell her'she has changed'. But that shouldn't be your first point.

#NigerianHeadlines
You talked like a female, sentimental in your approach.
The guy doesn't need to waste time calling her again since d girl has told d guy he is disturbing her. Females don't deserve that steadfastness, the guy should just retreat sharply/boldly and move on. If she can do like that, what if they are now married, and d guy is facing some challenges.
She is a bad omen, the guy must thank God she is gone for life. There are still some reasonable and responsible female out there, though might be few.

Job well done so far! Please I need interpretation for this my dream:
I was in the mist of friends in a class and we were just playing/gisting, and I dressed in a way that befit that environment. I then felt like snapping picture with phone, others are snapping as well. I told them to snap me and even, was giving them my phone to snap me, but they didn't just yield to my plea. They didn't accept my request neither did they reject it, it was just as if my request didn't get to them till everybody started going one by one.
Your kind response would be greatly appreciated!!!

EducationRe: Top Ten (10) Most Marketable Courses To Study In Nigeria by Joy83(m): 9:19pm On Aug 24, 2014
ACM10: Like I wrote earlier, hardly will you meet a petroleum engineer roaming the street jobless. Had I studied petroleum engineering in school, I would have been in a better position now. I subscribed to many oil job sites and all their job openings have been for petroleum engineers. I am in medical field and I must tell you that doctors don't earn much. They only earn enough to feed, while petroleum engineers are making big break in oil companies. A monthly salary of an entry level petroleum engineer in some oil companies is equivalent to three months salary of a registrar. I wish success as you pursue further studies.
I really appreciate your non-sentimental and educating approach. My brother, not a small money they are earning seriously, in those oil companies. Plus other allowances, you can imagine even their children have a special allowance from the company.
There is money indeed, and some people are really earning it in a big and cool way.
I swear by God's grace I must eat from this oil money as well because that's one of the morale that keeps many Geology Trainee going, even during tough situations.

ACM10: Petroleum engineering should be no. 1. Those guys are mega rich and are almost always employed.
What would make petroleum engineering no 1?
Apart from Oil and Gas related industry, where else can they work, and without being hypocritical, getting to work there is a survival of d fittest(Not easy). As a matter of fact, d work of petroleum engineering is being shared by Geologist(Petroleum Geoscience), and other engineering fields like Mechanical engineering and Electrical engineering.
Nevertheless I hope to do my Ph.D in petroleum engineering as a Geologist.
