She asked for the effect of not taking preventive drugs, not the effect of malaria on the baby.

From my experience, there is no effect on the baby unless she's asymptomatic to malaria and later comes down with it.

I was given metaprim at 13wks, took only two doses & stopped. Then I was given fansidar at 21wks, i dint use it, @ my last anc, i was given metaprim again & stil haven't used it. In my last preg, I came down with serious malaria @ 19wks after using fansidar & i was treated using artemeter-lumefantrine hence d 'fear'

When I was preggy with my first, my hospital said they only administer fansidar which I am allergic to.... so I didn't take any throughout the pregnancy and I don't think anything is wrong with my 'manager' because I didn't take any preventive drug.

I know what I am going through with my 2 yr old that only takes pap and 2 particular brands of cerelac. Yes he was EBFd too.

omG, you're trying o.. pls u need to start making him eat other things o. U can start with banana, watermelon, fried plantain, potatoes (sweet & irish), moimoi then gradually introduce semo wt draw soup, beans, rice, etc. Carry him on ur lap & feed him as u eat too.Give him d stern face if he doesn't want to cooperate. I also av a 2yr old dat I EBFd & he eats everything we eat. D cereal in d house is for times am too tired to cook

as for Milo I dey drink shege comot inside. but was told to stop it cus dem say baby go to big..but I still drink once once and I drink malt drink everyday..... I dey come mk I go make starch chop..

my recent craving is yogurt mixed with fura. Easy on d everyday malt ooo.. I no even dey too chop ds days sef unlike my previous preg.

They are always asking for it when I pump it out and the breastmilk dey overflow,. Sometimes I end up pouring the milk away.

Just there oo.. I go on Tuesdays so I c Dr Martin's. I usually get dere around 11am & by then d lecture is already over. But they av crowd sha... imagine me being number 97!! My last ANC, i complained of discharge dat wets my panntss & instead of him to send me for scan, he just checked baby's heartbeat & said evrytin is ok & prescribed one cream like dat for me to be rubbing down there & i was like.. 'did I complain of an itch'
few wks ago I called him(he dint know my identity..& me i like for my doc to av dat personalised touch) dat I was havin stomach ache & stooling(up to 6 times dat day within 5hrs) he asked how many wks I was & i was 19 then so he told me to use flagyl & buscopan.. i call one of my family members who's a Dr & he told me to go immediately to hospital because of dehydration & to hold on wt d drug use.. I just jejely soak ijebu garri & dat was d end of it.
Early in my preg wen I was about 7wks, i was feelin feverish & went to d hosp 2 c a regular doc... after doin malaria test, i was given artesunate & paludrine. I took only d paludrine o.. I no fit shout.

@Presval, st Martins is a no no cos have heard a lot of negative report concerning delivery, even my MIL forbids us from going there cos of negative comments from her colleagues at work.
Datta medical is a good Hospital, owned by dr Agbaje, he is a gyn. But presently using Prime and am ok with their service so far.

are u serious tho i cant say am sooo satisfied with their services plus all d young docs am seeing sef how much did u register at prime?

Had d itching experience in preg. Try to alwaz moisturize the place. Pele,and wen u go for clinic,show ur doc/midwife

All IPT are given after quickening (when you feel your lo kicks). Sorry abt the itch, try not to scratch but pat.

@ Joysa, weekly metaprim is a good IPT for those allergic to sulpha drugs.

Should metaprim be given that early? Just wondering..

Also, i noticed for over 2 week's now that my legs (below d knee to ankle) have been really itchy. I scratch til it peels any one gone tru this or has an idea what's up?

My Dr prescribed EVAMAL at 20 weeks buh the pharmacist refused to give me till I felt strong kicks. The drugs differ and I guess their mechanism will too. For example I took 3 doses of the drugs at a monthly interval. Yours is weekly.
For the TT, I really can't tell cos I never take mine on time, I always find a way to post myself.

It is advisable esp if you are exposed to mosquitoes on a regular basis.
The drugs are to prevent malaria rather than treat it. They are prescribed once you reach 20 weeks in my hospital or once you feel strong foetal movements.

Hmmmm, i was given metaprim(one weekly) & TT at 13wks..

Now am thinking.. was that appropriate
