This may not be the best time for me to write on this because of misinterpretation, but I can no longer resist the push. "Husband Scarcity" has become one of the challenges faced by many young girls today. If you go toprayer houses, majority of the intentions are prayer for a life partner. And this calls for concern. Casting our minds back to the time of our mothers and grandmothers, was there really much of a "Husband Scarcity" problem? Or, maybe there were more men than women then, or there was an adequate corresponding numbers of both genders. I don't think so. Maybe then, the women had values and were prepared to build a home and not park into a built home. Then, once a young man comes of age and can at least feed himself and his wife, he goes out in search of a wife and the woman really appreciates him and helps him to build a future. What am I really trying to say? We created what we now see as "Husband Scarcity" for ourselves. Today, the reverse is the case. Ask an average girl to define her dream husband; you get things like "he has to be tall, handsome, fair, and rich, own a house at least, and be presentable" and then she adds "God fearing" in order not to sound so worldly. Then, check the number of girls around you and the number of men that meet that standard, and you will see the problem. You hear girls say, "I cannot suffer in my father's house and then go and start suffering with a man."What a wonderful dream! What if from the beginning, you have everything you want and there is no suffering, and later in the marriage, the table turns around, then comes suffering? Will you run away? No one prays for suffering, but it is good to start small and end big, than start big and end small. The problem is that the description majority of girls give of their ideal man is virtually the same. When 50 girls want the same kind of man and the man that fits what they want is just 1 man, and the man can only pick one. Then, what becomes of 49 others? They simply start lamenting of "Husband Scarcity". Another irony of our time is that it is hard, due to the economic reality to find a man who is of marriage age who possesses the qualities these ladies want legitimately (except those involved in Internet fraud/ scam, 419); even the number of those into fraud are not enough to match all those searching for already made husbands. If you look around, majority of the ladies of substance, of good value and virtue, who are ready to build a home with a man who has prospects, are married and not complaining of husband scarcity. The easiest way to find a husband now, is to change your view of who a husband is. A husband is that man God made and then saw that it may be hard for him to really actualize his purpose for making him without a help mate and then made the woman and gave to him, and he felt complete and fulfilled. MARRIAGE IS NOT A POVERTY ALLEVIATION PROGRAM. It is a mission of building the family of God here on earth. For those who see marriage as a way out of poverty, it is a way into bondage. Women are HOME BUILDERS, not HOME WARMERS... DON'T CONFUSE A MAN'S PATH WITH HIS DESTINY. Where he is today, may only be a route to where God has destined him to be tomorrow. Another truth is that YOU MAY BE THE ONLY FAST MEANS TO THAT HIS DESTINATION. Join in alleviating "husband scarcity". PICK UP THE RIGHT VALUES. I am not saying that you should pick anyone that comes your way and proceed into marriage. Not all men are husband materials! What I am saying is that you should stop setting your standard on material acquisitions or physical appearances. Look beyond the physical. WHAT MAKES A MAN WHO HE IS, IS NOT WHAT HE OWNS OR HOW HE LOOKS. IT IS WHAT HE IS MADE UP OF. And that which he is made of is, most times, not seen with the physical eyes. Only its effects can be seen. Marriage is a permanent thing. Whatever is seen is temporal and that which is not seen is permanent. Relax and go to God in prayer. God did not just make Eve for making sake. He made her for Adam's need to be met |

A cross section of Nigerians have condemned the planned payment of about N9bn as perks to ministers and lawmakers who will assume office in the government of President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.)The newspaper on May 9, 2015, in an investigative report, said lawmakers to constitute the 8th National Assembly and ministers to be appointed by Buhari would receive N9bn as perks on assumption of office. The perks include housing, furniture and motor vehicle allowances, among others. For instance, the housing allowance for the lawmakers is 200 per cent of their annual salaries; furniture is 300 per cent and motor vehicle loan is 400 per cent. The report, which has been read about 40,000 times on www.punchng.com as of Friday, generated mixed reactions from the public, many of who demanded pay cut for political office holders in the country. The readers questioned the payment of such allowances at a time the country’s revenue has dipped. Chika Kema Junior, one of the readers, said, “All these furniture, car, whatever allowances are unnecessary. I still recommend pay as you go allowances for senators and members of the House of Representatives. “That is, payment should be done based on sitting, and shouldn’t be more than N300, 000 for senators and N200, 000 for members of the House of Representatives. “Minister for state positions should be scrapped immediately as they are wasteful. Ministers’ salary should not be more than N150, 000 per month. However, they can have leverage in the purchase of houses or cars since they are government servants.” Another Nigerian, Michael Akinmola, described the allowance package for the lawmakers and ministers as “alarming” and “ridiculous.” He said, “Are all these lawmakers living in another planet apart from the one we all live? If the answer is no, I see no reason why these salaries and allowances should not be reduced with immediate effect. “This is one of the causes of corruption in the society. It is also one of the major reasons why politics in Nigeria has become a do or die affairs.” Incidentally, state civil servants in many states across the country are being owed salaries following the recent fall in oil prices, fuelling the resentment felt by some Nigerians towards the allowances. The Nigerians said it was unfair for the predominantly poor taxpayers to be funding the lavish lifestyle of political office holders. A reader, Yetunde, described the current situation in the country as “completely outrageous.” Her comment read, “Why should we pay for their domestic help, newspapers, entertainment, and all sorts of garbage? “The current state of Nigerian economy can’t pay for these. I don’t see why vehicle loans should be given to any lawmaker. If they really need a car, they can approach the bank for loan. It is improper that we have to pay for the fuel and maintenance of a car that is considered personal.” Another Nigerian, Oreagba Afolabi, wrote, “We should do away with these bogus allowances and work out something more reasonable. There should be nothing like constituency allowances. “Let them get where they will stay (in the Federal Capital Territory). Enough of all this wastage, the common man on the street is suffering.” Source:http://u.punchng.com/1i3o |
Boko Haram fighters have killed at least 55 people in Bale and Kayamla villages, two communities near Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. Residents who spoke with AFP said the insurgents also burnt several homes after looting them before proceeding to the outskirts of Maiduguri, where they were crushed by troops. “They killed 30 people in Kayamla and another 25 in Bale,” a vigilante official, Abacha Zinnari, said. Dear Mum I have decided to talk to you, to let you know my feelings. I want to know why you did it. My story is short. I have stayed inside you for only three months. I was very comfortable and warm. I felt really protected. I know you are a special person because I ate the food you ate. I longed for the day I would see your face. Nine months was a long time to wait, but I was determined to wait. I had to be patient. One day I heard you converse with a man about me, and at some stage you quarreled. The man then offered you some money to get rid of me. I was happy and prayed that this meant that I would at least see you, the only person that I knew in the world: I was wrong. I had almost forgotten the issues until I felt something sharp pierce my tiny ear. I jerked silently and in pain, and asked you to protect me. Seconds later the object came, fiercer than before. My tiny was cut up, starting from the ears then arms and legs. It was an agonizing experience, my head was then cut off and I died. It took me a whole hour to die, a whole hour for an innocent three months human being to be murdered. I remember the whole incidence vividly and I keep asking myself, what I did to deserve that cruel death? Why me? Why did you do it to me? And why was I not given a chance to live? I know you are having a lot of nightmares. You remain guilty for thebeastly act. Please explain to your God why you committed the heinous act. Personally I have forgiven you though I never lived to see your face. My journey to back to my creator was safe and I arrived safely. I was given a red carpet welcome by an angel. I am infact, without bitterness. I still love you mum. |

Police found an eight-year-old Ivorian boy hidden in a suitcase that was smuggled across the border into Spanish territory in north Africa, an official said on Friday. A picture provided by Spanish Guardia Civil, on May 8, 2015, shows x-ray of image showing an 8-yr-old sub-Saharan boy hidden in a bag. A 19-year-old woman took the case through a pedestrian crossing from Morocco into the small Spanish-governed territory of Ceuta on Thursday, a spokesman for the Civil Guard police force said. “When they put the suitcase through the scanner, the operator noticed something strange, which seemed to be a person inside the case,” he told AFP. “When it was opened they found a minor, in a terrible state.” The boy said he was eight years old and from Ivory Coast, according to the spokesman. The Civil Guard arrested the woman, who was due to go before a judge. They also arrested the boy’s father when he tried to cross the border a few hours later. The father is Ivorian and lives in Spain’s Canary Islands. Source:www.vanguardngr.com/2015/05/eight-

The fuel situation in the country appears to have defied all solutions, as the scarcity worsened yesterday, heightening the sufferings of motorists and the public in general. Despite promises made by oil marketers, Monday, that the country will be flooded with petrol in the coming days, the situation had continued to deteriorate on a daily basis with people finding it increasingly difficult to buy the commodity. The authorities saddled with the responsibility of regulating the downstream petroleum sector, Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, and Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, have failed to take any significant steps towards addressing the crisis, as senior officials of the organizations have refused to respond to queries about the issue. A survey of petrol stations in Lagos and Abuja showed that majority of the petrol stations were shut, while only a few were selling to motorists at exorbitant prices. Source:www.vanguardngr.com

The pretty lady identified as Gloria (@Gloria_speaks on twitter) decided to join him at Abaji for the trip and vowed to make it to Otuoke. According to Nihi, Nigerians across religion and party affiliations have shown them support and even take a walk with them to cover some distance in solidarity, with some promising to join them.
