To whom it may concern Russia is a very good country with all the fun and enjoyment if you are coming to solely study and have fun but if you are coming with the intention of getting a job anywhere then note: as a foreign student, you are not permitted to work like in other civilized countries. I understand most people are desperate to leave Nigeria which is reasonable so if you must leave, kindly pick a country where the law permits you to study and work. Flier sharing in the despicable cold is the least job I’ll pray for my worst enemy, if you are caught in the process sorry is your name as you might be expelled from the university because you signed a contract and in the contract it’s indicated your do’s and don’ts but because they are written in Russian language you won’t bother only for them to show you the points on the D. day. 95% of the guys that came to study without sponsor either dropped out or got expelled because they couldn’t cope as their hopes were shattered and too ashamed to go back home while some sensible once honorably went back. Ask the people in this forum living in Russia if they’ll wish there brother or sister what they are passing through here, my point is not to discourage anyone but to put you through to reality and what to expect because I’ve seen hopes die and dreams killed before me because of wrong choice. Best regards! |
Blackputin2324:My point exactly, If you read my previous post you’ll see I explained going to YouTube to learn English phonetics because the English we speak in Nigeria is categorically Nigerian English and speaking that here na “oyo you dey”. Every country with their own English accent so when teaching in Russia you should understand which accent you want to be identified with and start practicing. |
BedLam:Funny enough, people here can’t comprehend why an healthy, strong looking man would be begging on the street, that itself is sending a wrong signal about our race. |
chaiks:Under normal circumstance, as a student you are entitled to travel anywhere around the world provided your university provides a back up letter to the embassy authenticating you as a student of their institution but unfortunately most of our fellow Nigerians have abused the opportunity as it was discovered that most of the African immigrants seeking asylum in the Western Europe are originating from the Eastern Europe hence the strict issuance of visas to African students irrespective of their status. As a student back then it was much easier getting visas as the situation wasn’t as bad as it is now but as a post graduate student you might be lucky. Russians are the nicest people you can ever work with if you are straightforward, true to your word and don’t try to compete with them. |
chaiks:You should first of all ask yourself, did you keep any job in those countries? Secondly using a Nigerian passport to get a visa to those countries from Russia is times 5 more difficult than applying from Nigeria. If I were you, I’ll starting watching YouTube, learning English phonetics, improving your grammaticals and vocabularies so by the time you get here you can start from teaching the Russian students in your school after which you can then start applying to kindergartens. |
Logachev:I can relate with your experience bro, but then you can’t blame them probably they’ve had a black person previously who made away with their valuables thinking no one knew or saw him because we always think we are the smartest. When working with a white, they’ll trust you wholeheartedly but if you give them a reason to doubt your statement then that’s it as you can never regain their trust and if you happen to be black, all your race will tend to suffer for it which is logical reasoning. |
BedLam:I can’t agree less with you bro, I have friends working legitimately in Moscow with families and are not doing bad but then if you look well, you’ll see they graduated from a Russian university and are using Russian passports so getting a job is much easier for them moreso they speak the language pretty good unlike most of our people who came to Russia for the World Cup and are stranded because they thought they could get a job. I’ve lived in Moscow and it’s rather a thing of shame to be walking with your white girlfriend and she is pointing telling you see your fellow black man begging for money, there are some particular sets of people who go to clubs fighting and picking pockets forgetting there are cameras everywhere leaving people like us to suffer it because blacks are henceforth banned from such clubs and bars. My previous statement wasn’t to rubbish or paint my fellow blacks bad but rather to expose what’s really happening around here. |
chaiks:Life is much more better in Petersburg than in Moscow because the blacks in Moscow are not regarded as most of them go about picking pockets and constituting nuisance on the street unlike in Petersburg where people are asking to take pictures with you because there are still people here who haven’t seen a black person before. Life is good in Russia as long as you have sufficient money to take care of yourself, you can actually get a job in Petersburg as an English language teacher if your command of English is outstanding. |
I live in Saint Petersburg and I am a Russian passport holder, I schooled here and I was told the same thing but the system has no room for foreigners let alone blacks. |
Bro, I won’t consider it because as a foreign student you are not allowed to work. |
