DMerciful: There was general consensus that it was the turn of the South. Tinubu being very wealthy from cornering Lagos money over the years compromised INEC.
So INEC was basically working for Tinubu. They did not believe Obi will do much but when they saw the tsunami on election day, they shutdown IREV This is what people are saying stop dehumanizing people because they are not from your tribe. These same mentality lead to S.E soldiers killing leaders ( millitary and civilian)from other region. Obi also became rich through corruption. First as chairman of tincan island and then Anambra state governors. Or can u swear with your life that peter never enrich himself with Nigeria funds. Same obi bought his house in U.K during his time as Tincan chairman. |

IfnobeGod20: Are people in PDP not Nigerians? If they have been voting for PDP, are PDP members not part of the nation Nigeria? The good news is that they voted a PDP man from Yoruba extraction and that cannot be erased by anybody. Remember as at that time their prominent son was also on the ballot vying to become a president but they went for OBJ and voted overwhelmingly for him. This unnecessary hating of Igbo by some of you is uncalled for and unholy by any standard. You cannot continue to flog a child and still keeping telling the child if he cries, you will not stop beating him. Please no reasonable person does that. Where there is equity and fairness and justice, the 2023 presidential candidate should have gone to south east by all political parties to pacify them for the years of neglect they have suffered politically as all tribes have had the bite to the presidency. You people knew the Yoruba candidate was falae after what happened to Abiola. But choose to vote Obasanjo to spite them.Someone who does not relate well with his people. Same person who initially was against M.K.O. Someone who hated most Yoruba leaders. Did anyone challenge you on that. So why are u people fixated the we should vote obi because he is the igbo candidate. This is democracy where everyone has the freedom to choose whosever they believe in. When the time comes we will pick among the South easterners who we feel we re comfortable with. It simple as that. |

IfnobeGod20: In 2003, who do they vote? Give it to Igbo, since 1999 they have been voting non Igbos as presidents and if they decided in 2023 to overwhelmingly voted their own, no wrong done and should not be faulted by any reasonable person. They have been voting PDP. You should ask urself why PDP a Fulani party refuse to support an Igbo man after 24yrs for president. Same Fulani and hausa populace refuse to vote peter obi in the core North. And u believe it's mere coincidence. Next election they will still not support peter. U people don't know ur real enemy. |

FreedomfromtheT: Please don't deflect. My point which you know quite well is that Igbos have been voting for non Igbos for several years. Some people even mocked Igbos that they don't support their own. Now the only time Igbo overwhelmingly voted for their own is 2023 yet you accuse them of voting along tribal lines. There is nothing Igbos will do that their haters will applaud. Same with S.W 2007 they voted Yar adua 2011 they voted Jonathan. 2015 they voted buhari. You people also a accused other of it. |
Politics › Re: SA Election's A Shining Example, Our 2023 Election A Show Of Shame - Peter Obi by Judgementa1: 12:27pm On Jun 08, 2024 |
FreedomfromtheT: Peter Obi got close to 98% in Anambra and other South East states because 1. It was and is still the turn of the South East to produce Nigeria's next president according to a lot of Nigerians who believe in equity including governor Samuel Ortom, Afenifere, PANDEF and the Middle Belt Forum etc and no right thinking person will throw away what belongs to them after years of cries of marginalization; 2. HE Peter Obi was generally seen as the best candidate among the others with integrity, credibility, competence and capacity according to president Olusegun Obasanjo and others. 3. Prior to 2023, the Igbo people of the Southeast had been voting for outsiders like president Olusegun Obasanjo (even when dim Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu contested), late president Umar Musa Yaradua, former president Goodluck Jonathan and former vice president Atiku Abubakar.
When it was said to be the turn of the North in 2015, close to 90 - 99% of voters in Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Borno, Yobe, Niger, Adamawa, Bauchi and Gombe states voted enmasse for former president Muhammadu Buhari. I didn't hear or read anyone accusing them of bigotry or voting along tribal lines. Thank you. Point of corrections. You supported and voted PDP. And when it was PDP turn to support which they refused u started accusing the Yoruba. Is Atiku now a Yoruba man. |

The result is an irreversible damage to his illegitimate presidency. I can bet it that subsequent yrs would be worse and he only has one more yr. 2027 politics will start early So a party of 1 governor is the legitimate winner. U people should stop all dis jokes. But he joined his enemy, Arewa North, to fight East just because Gowon “promised” him post-Biafra Nigeria presidency. The way u people reason sometimes makes one wonder what kind of people u re. So awolowo should maintain neutral stance and watch ojukwu army take over the western region. How come ojukwu directed his army towards western region and not the Northern region his perceive enemy. Or did ojukwu and ironsi stayed neutral when adaka boro tried to move ijaw nation out of the country. The problem with u people is u feel u have the right to take decision on behalf of others. |
Politics › Re: Flashback: Why I Opposed Awolowo On Secession - Zik by Judgementa1: 5:56pm On Jun 06, 2024 |
DMerciful: Same way the military would have removed secession clause after abrogating the 1963 constitution in 1966! Successions clause would have prevented millitary intervention in the first republic. Army came as a result of each region premier trying to outmanoeuvre each other which led to crisis in the western region. With successions in place it would have been easy for adaka boro to break away from Nigeria and form his own Niger delta country. Would have been easier for ojukwu to declare Biafra without any interference or aggression from the central govt. |

It was Awolowo who claims to be a separatist at first but when it was time to act it out during the war, he started to endorse what he hated.
Awolowo was the only politician in history who is known to have taken a major decision not based on strategy but his "antipathy towards the Igbos" Such a fool.
nobody really knows what he stood for till this day. Why do u feel igbos has right to decide for others Who made sure Adaka successions from Nigeria was not successful. Ibos. So an ijaw man does not have the right to succession. |

gidgiddy: This is another classic example of why the Nigerian, and indeed Africans, are backward
The white man comes from Europe, uses superior firepower to overrun your ancestors, bamboozled them all into a British colonial project called "Nigeria"
But long after the white man has gone back home, you are still killing your selves to preserve the country he created. You answer a name "Nigerian" that a white woman created in London as your national identity
When someone like Ojukwu, an indigenous son of the soil, wants to create a country, you fight war, kill your selves in the millions, just to uphold a country created by the white man
But there is nothing you as a black African will ever create that Will make the white man kill his white brother
An enforced illegal colonial contraption that the white man shed the blood of your ancestors to create, is what you now shed the blood of your African brother to uphold. This is what you call treason and terrorism.
Terrible When Adaka boro tried to create a separate entity from Nigeria. Your forefathers ironsi and ojukwu frustrated his effort. Stop crying of what your elders are guilty of. |
