When I wrote jamb the numbers of candidates was not much like what we are having now and the environment was very safe compare to what we are having today.
Do u want to tell me that jamb body do not have enough money to create more centers or to employ more hands for one day exercise?
Look at health center. When it is time to give polio vaccine they will employ more hands trained them and send them to different communities and they will do job the successfully
I still want to ask, what stops jamb not to create more centers since they know that they have more candidates every year?
Or why do they not collaborate with these students choice of their universities and allow them to go there and sit for their exams.
When there is money u can make proper arrangements for anything.
Don't just support these people because u feel it is APC or Tinubu regime or it is Obi that said it.
If we all can drop our political differences or do away with ethnic bias u will see that many things in this country will be perfectly done. I'm not supporting anybody here bro.... I'm saying obi is being petty for someone who didn't build a single sch in anambra..... He is part of d problem we are facing today.... That is school not an examination that you need to travel some kilometers before you get to examination centre. Why not do all the verifications online. Why don't they create more examination centre that is close to the student environment. They don't want to spend money by employing more hands but they are ready to steal more money. What does it takes to create more examination centers and employ people to work for them . Even if it is contract staff.

WriterX: You're embarrassing yourself badly, and I’ll explain with facts:
1. First, comparing students writing exams to families at an embassy chasing visas shows you completely miss the point.
Embassies operate on limited slots for international travel.
National exam bodies, like JAMB, control their own structure — they set the rules, allocate centers, schedule times. CBT exams are organized by us, for us. If Nigerian children suffer there, it’s pure wickedness and incompetence, not inevitability.
Nobody is forced to line up for hours in functional countries for an internal university exam. Stop defending the indefensible.
2. Second, you still don't understand what progress is:
CBT and CCTV by themselves are tools.
Progress is not about importing technology; it's about human-centered system design.
India runs CBT for over 20 million students yearly (JEE Mains, NEET), but students are assigned staggered times, verified BEFORE exam day, and NO ONE stands outside for hours.
Your thinking is colonial: "As long as it looks modern, it must be progress." Rubbish.
If you install an ATM in a desert where people queue under the sun for days to withdraw cash — is that progress? No. That’s stupidity with computers.
3. Third, returning schools to missionaries IS recognized globally as best practice.
UNICEF, World Bank, and UNESCO reports advocate for public-private partnerships in education — including returning mismanaged schools to original owners who can run them efficiently, with government support.
Peter Obi’s model was even studied at policy summits in Nigeria. (Source: UNICEF Nigeria Education Sector Analysis 2015.)
You think you’re mocking? You’re exposing your ignorance.
4. Fourth, dragging Theodore Orji into this is laughable. Yes, Abia ranked well — because even accidental good outcomes can happen when states follow minimum standards. But governance is more than exam results:
Obi left behind $500 million (cash and investment) for Anambra.
Theodore Orji left behind piles of unpaid salaries, debt, and decay.
Don’t compare a Ferrari to a danfo bus just because both move.
5. Fifth, you brought up local government elections to deflect because you lost the education argument.
Reality check:
99.99999% of Nigerian governors (across all parties) manipulate local elections.
JAMB problems, CBT mismanagement, and children fainting at centers are happening TODAY under the Federal Government — the people constitutionally in charge of education policy at that level.
Your obsession with Obi cannot wash off the criminal wickedness Nigerian children are facing RIGHT NOW.
Meanwhile on the front page : jamb candidate escapes ghastly accident.
https://www.nairaland.com/8410167/jamb-candidate-survives-ghastly-keke my thinking is colonial yet u see no problem with govs manipulating elections.... Because I disagree with obi now makes me obsessed? U think I'm like you that swallows everything a politician said hook, line and sinker? I said what did obi do differently in education-u said its a federal responsibility, I said fine. Local government elections is a state responsibility :what did obi do differently that Malaysia could copy from, you said 99% of governors rig elections..... So u see that you guys will go to any lengths to defend politicians even if they're saying absolutely rubbish |

If it is safe to move around "Abuja" that early, is it safe every where else in the country?

If you didn't experience it, then the other person is lying some of una no even dey understand something.... WriterX: Typical deflection and intellectual laziness.
You say Peter Obi should have solved a federal exam body issue like JAMB — but JAMB is run by the Federal Government, not governors. Learn governance structure before typing.
When Obi governed Anambra, he radically reformed education within his constitutional powers:
Over 1,040 schools were returned to missions and properly funded, leading to Anambra moving from 24th to 1st place nationally in WAEC by 2013.
UNICEF, in its education report for Nigeria (2014), recognized Anambra under Obi for best educational advancement among all southeastern states.
Anambra under Obi produced the best national results in NECO too — back-to-back for two years.
Meanwhile, you are here defending a Federal JAMB system that still forces 16-year-olds to stand under the sun, sleep at exam centers, and queue for hours — even after your so called "progress." that has gulped billions and billions of hard earned tax payers money.
Let me teach you something about real progress:
In Brazil, India, Indonesia, CBT exams were rolled out gradually, but without torturing children like animals.
Biometric data is collected at admission, NOT on exam day, and mock exams are decentralized to LOCAL centers — no traffic jams, no trauma.
Nigeria introduced CBT, yes — but with Nigerian-style wickedness: zero user-friendliness, zero care for children.
PROGRESS is not only about gadgets. Progress is about how humans experience systems.
You think attaching CCTV to suffering makes it modern? That’s foolishness, not governance.
Finally, Peter Obi fixed what was under his control: education management, school ownership, funding, and WAEC performance. He wasn’t appointed Minister of Education to run JAMB.
Stop showing your ignorance proudly. If you have nothing intelligent to say, leave governance discussions for people who understand federalism, not market square shouting. asking potential university students to be present at exam centres is torture? yet you line up at the American embassy with d same children by 5am... U said cbt is not progress and cctv camera isn't progress.... Haaa... We were trekking before and it took a while before cars came into Nigeria, people like you refused to see the introduction of automobiles as progress and a necessary means of transportation because the whites were already flying..... So returning the schs to missionaries is a global best practice? U said anambra was first in Waec during obi's tenure, and Abia State under Theodore orji was second.... So orji was also a very good governor..... If I ask you how obi conducted local government elections now in anambra, you will say I'm deflecting, the type of election obi conducted in anambra is what India and Indonesia are currently using, infact obi gave them the template |
Education › Re: Peter Obi Calls Out JAMB Over 6:30am Exams; JAMB Replies by Judolisco(m): 6:21pm On Apr 28, 2025 |
WriterX: The problem is not that children have to wake early. It’s that poor system design forces children into inhumane, unnecessary hardship — just for basic education.
Peter Obi’s point is global best practice: Good governance means removing avoidable suffering in education, not normalizing it like Abuja and other badly-run places.
FACTS from other countries:
1. Brazil (population 215 million):
Introduced decentralized neighborhood schooling — children attend public schools within walking distance of their homes.
Biometrics for exams were done at registration weeks, not on exam day, to avoid congestion.
2. India (population 1.4 billion, worse traffic than Abuja):
Major cities like Bangalore and Mumbai operate staggered school hours and zoned schooling to cut down early-morning madness.
Biometric data is captured during admission and verified digitally before exams — NO need for long queues before writing papers.
3. Indonesia (population 276 million):
Jakarta schools use a unified student number; NO daily biometric drama before exams.
Schools operate split sessions (morning/afternoon shifts) to prevent overcrowding and stress.
Meanwhile, in Abuja (and sadly most of Nigeria), a failed model is normalized:
Long commutes.
Biometrics done under exam pressure.
Children treated like laborers, not learners.
Peter Obi isn’t "blabbing." He’s raising a basic governance failure that smarter countries with bigger populations have already solved.
Calling legitimate complaints about children's welfare
"petty" is exactly why Nigeria underperforms globally.
Leadership is not about boasting population numbers — it’s about managing human beings with dignity, especially the young. this is where I have a problem with you people, you mentioned Brazil, Indonesia and India, but you forgot to mention anambra where obi was governor for 8 yrs..... It's not everything we should play politics with.... Dis countries you mentioned didn't jst become good overnight..... We were not writing jamb like this 20 yrs ago, it was pen and paper test, gradually cbt was introduced, the current registrar came and changed everything to 100% cbt and even introduced mock exams..... Is that not progress? Since 2015 jamb has been running 100% cbt, all of the cbt centers are equipped with cctv cameras, is that not progress? Like I said obi is jst blabbing, he was governor for 8 yrs he should tell us how exams were conducted in his small state rather than pointing to Indonesia. |
