Applicants from public Universities and Colleges of Education must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score of 3.5 or its equivalent (2:1)

Applicants from public Polytechnics must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) programme and must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma programme (HND).

Direct entry level students must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the OND programme and must have secured admission into 300 level/3rd year in a public University.

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Non-Academic Staff Union(NASU) Federal University of Technology Owerri chapter today began a demand to N30 billion Earned Allowance and Federal Government’s refusal to obey court judgment on staff school salaries.

The peaceful protest which drew scores of affected workers around the schools round about affected smooth vehicular movements in and out of the school premises.The protesting workers were armed with placards with inscriptions such as “We demand N30 billion to pay part of our earned allowance now”;We demand the RE-commitment of Re-negotiation of 2009 FGN/Unions agreements without further delay ”; SSANU demand FG compliance to court judgment on Staff School”

Another round of strike is looming in the nation’s universities as the leadership of the non-teaching staff of the universities have begun mobilisation of their members nationwide to begin a nationwide strike on Monday, July 15, 2019 over alleged breach of agreements by the government.


The leadership of the non teaching staff told newsmen on Friday in Abuja that top on the list of grievances was the exclusion of its members from the workings of the National University Pension Company (NUPENCO) solely operated by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), and the allocation of 80 percent of the money released by the federal government as earned allowances to ASUU while the three non academic staff unions got the remaining 20 percent.

FUTO Man O' War apprehended a "Yahoo Plus Ritualist" this morning at Bliss Mansion, Umuchima.He is a student of Biological Science, Federal Univeristy of Techology( FUTO)(name withheld) .we gathered that he tried using a fellow student for ritual .

Interviewing the Victim, whose name is Daniel, a final year student of Biological Science, he reported that "He called me at late hours of the night appealing to me to allow him sleep over at my place. I sent him the address of my place and when he came, he narrated to me how he was arrested by the police and the other stories afterwards. He told me that he doesn't want more troubles, so he decided to lie low at my place.

The victim was reported to be in the same department with the criminal,which made him accept the guy without suspicion . He insisted I go get him something to eat, I had to borrow #200 from my lodge mate and on my way, i started asking myself why would he be insisting I get him something knowing how dangerous, Umuchima can be at night but I only prayed to God to take control. I cooked for him but he refused to eat, saying that I put something in the food which I didn't.


Some minutes past 12:00am, he came to the bed telling me that.

As you know, JAMB general cut off mark is always the basis of selection for further screening by a particular chosen school.However, while the JAMB Registrar tried to make the cut off reduced to 120 last year, many schools protested against it and some resulted to 180 and 200.

The good news here is that, despite many universities going contrary and fixing their own requirement score, there are some list Of Universities that accept 160 In JAMB.

Some of the big & prestigious Universities (like University of Lagos (UNILAG), University of NIgeria Nsukka(UNN), e.t.c) will not take candidates with any score lower than 200 for post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). but some recognized federal and state Universities will still accept 180 in Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) some even lower than 180(possibly 160).

The Governing Council of the University of Nigeria(UNN) has appointed Professor Charles Arizechukwu Igwe the new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria. Igwe will take over from Professor Benjamin Ozumba whose tenure will expire in June, 2019.

Igwe’s appointment was announced on Thursday May 23rd 2019 by the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Chief Mike Olorunfemi after a transparent selection process by the Governing Council of the University.

Professor Igwe is the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration of the University. He is a Professor of Soil Science in the Faculty of Agriculture. He joined the services of the University in 1976 as a Soil Survey Assistant. He became an academic staff of the University in 1991 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor in 2003.

The Federal Government has increased the allowance of members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has been increased to N30,000 .The disclosure was made by the minister of finance, Zainab Ahmed, who however, noted that the federal government is still working out modalities before the implementation of the new allowance for corps member.

This was announced during a press conference at Abuja by the minister on Thursday, May 16. she s=also added that the total sum of N649.434 billion was verified by the ministry as the outstanding balance to be refunded to the state governments. She said: “The other aspect that should be clear is that there is an increase for the NYSC as well because NYSC, by its Act, is designed that they earn the minimum wage.”



“So, NYSC allowance also has to increase to N30, 000. So, I cannot give you projections right now because the negotiations are not yet concluded.” The former director general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Major General Suleiman Kazaure, said during the swearing-in ceremony of 3,022 Batch A corps members into the FCT on Friday, March 29 at orientation camp that the increment of allowances for corps members would be considered as soon as the minimum wage increment was approved.



The NYSC ex-DG said all hope was not lost as the scheme was waiting for the federal government to sign the minimum wage into law. He urged the newly sworn in corps members to conduct themselves properly while in camp and shun drug abuse. The NYSC ex-boss advised them to remain patriotic after being posted to their communities of primary assignments and ensure that impacts were made in their host communities.

A 15-year-old boy from Imo known as Ekele Franklin, has been announced as the overall best candidate in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination(UTME) with a score of 347.

Emmanuel Chidebube, a 16-year-old boy from Abia came second with a score of 346, while Isaac Olamide, a 17-year-old from Osun came third with 345.

This was announced by Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board(JAMB), at a news conference to announce the release of the results in Abuja on Saturday in which the procedures for checking the 2019 Joint Admission and Matriculation Board(JAMB) results was stated.

He also added that the general performance of the candidates for 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination(UTME) was not encouraging as when compared to 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination(UTME) . Oloyede disclosed that in all 2,906 candidates scored over 300 as against 4,683 in 2018.

The registrar continued with the breakdown saying, 57,579 candidates scored between 250 and 299 as against 64,120 in the 2018 results. He said 366,757 candidates also scored between 200 and 249, which is a significant improvement from the 2018 results.

“361,718 candidates scored between 180 and 199 as against 325,152 in 2018, while 494,484 scored between 160 and 179 as against 455,898 last year. “410,844 candidates scored between 140 and 159 as against 346,825 recorded in 2018 while also 99,463 scored between 100 and 139 as against 64,712 in 2018.”

The registrar said that about 1,792,719 candidates sat for the exams, while 34,120 candidates had their results withheld for examination malpractice. He stated that 15,145 results were withheld for further clarification.

Oloyede, however, noted that 116 centres had been delisted for
