Business / How Fashion Designers Can Sell More by jukekeocha: 7:22pm On Sep 28, 2019 |
The fashion industry is a multi-billion-dollar industry that most people in it still struggled because they use the outdated method of marketing without picking a nitch in their field. You hear most fashion students tell you, I've learned this and this and that and that and they keep learning without thinking about picking a niche to focus and master. Now, imagine if what you make as a fashion designer is just creative tops for ladies. (Don't blame me, I don't know their names) or just belly-top skirts. Or you make Ankara trousers and shorts for men? No you don't make everything, no you don't make Agbada, no you don't make suits and shirts, no you just make only one thing and that's one of those listed above. You charge just 3k for one pair and it takes you just 2 hours or less to make one. Let's say you make 5 daily. That's 15k, I know you can actually do more but let's start with this. With that, you can target young girls or guys between the age of 18 to 28 (that's really broad but still ok). Now ask yourself where can I find this group? On Instagram, they are also in schools so a nearby campus can be your target. I have written a comprehensive post on how fashion designers can sell more check it out here |

Jobs/Vacancies / How To Sell Your Knowledge And Experience by jukekeocha: 9:18pm On Sep 23, 2019 |
Experience taught me that if your mind isn't in the right place, no thread, article, book, course, live training or mastermind will help you.Thats why 2 different people learn the same thing, one makes millions, the other zero. This thread is in Four Parts Step 1: Reprogram your brain. Step 2: Discover your niche. Step 3: Identify a market problem. Step 4: Market & sell it successfully. Reprogram your brain Reprogram your brain First, you must take ownership of your life and your current situation. Nobody will do it for you. You create what you want. Don't say it's harder here. We already know that. Don't disturb us. Allow us to work. Work too if you want change. Self awareness is the key to success at ANYTHING Who are you? Do you know you? What's your psychology, how to do see yourself (self image), what biases do you currently own. If a business model conflicts with a bias you hold dear, you won't succeed at it, try as you may. What are your interests? What behavior patterns do you exhibit? Are there personal flaws that will affect executing on what you'll learn here today? Work on that. You have to change your inner identity. The unconscious controls your conscious life There are hidden reasons that drive your unwanted behavior and decisions. What are they? Learn to catch your own thought and behavior patterns as they fire you into responding. One thing I learn is to never dwell on pain, failure or disappointment, now matter how large or devastating. Never. Rebuild your belief blocks Taking an audit of everything you believe to be true and rebuilding it from the ground up. Question them. Are they really true? Or were they handed down to you by family, church, Govt, school? Many folks carry wrong beliefs around and it affects how they act, react, their decisions and progress. Master laser-precision focus You need this to learn how to stick to something, else you will be distracted by the slightest things. You must shut out life's noise and concentrate intensely for extended periods of time at will. This is also one of the cure for procrastination. Lack of self-discipline and propensity to be impulsive Lack of self discipline is the entrepreneur's greatest enemy .If this or anything else must work, you must learn how to control your impulses, stick to plans, follow directions, see things through to completion and never waver on goals. Anyone who told you starting a business is Fun lied You must be WILLING, ABLE and POSSESS extreme grit so that you can work, 12-hour days, 6-day weeks, for months and years on end. This could be your life now till you die. Can you? Being able to do all this should put the hard truth before your face, that running a business is totally different from what people think or say. Discover your niche Read more on How to Sell your Knowledge and Experience |
Business / CBN Policy On Bank Charges by jukekeocha: 9:10pm On Sep 23, 2019 |
The exploitation of customers by their banks is a global phenomenon. In the USA, 6.5 percent of households are unbanked, meaning they don’t have a bank account at all.Half of those affected report it’s because the fees are too expensive. JPMorgan Chase, for instance, made $1.9 billion from overdraft charges alone in 2016. At some large regional banks, fees accounted for almost 40 percent of revenue that year, CNBC reports; U.S. consumers as a whole paid $34.3 billion in overdraft fees in 2017. In the West, the high costs associated with financial services from banking to borrowing eat away at many people’s incomes. So majority of the charges are for borrowing or unauthorized overdrafts. Globally, banks love Fees and Charges. As a business model, the attraction is obvious. One $35 overdraft fee per year generates as much revenue as lending out $1000 at 3.5 percent for the year. The main difference in the proliferation of bank changes from Nation to Nation. in the Western economies is Regulation. Where the regulatory frameworks is strong, bank fees are controlled as in many EU countries. But in a place like America, where there is little regulation (Trump has even waived some that were to come into effect), Bank charges are a major Revenue source for banks. But majority of the charges are customer habit contingent; unlike in Nigeria where you are charged multiple charges for doing basic banking without any borrowing involved. Many Western consumers don’t know it’s possible to avoid overdraft fees entirely by managing their finances better. So in d West where borrowing is easily available, charges are also on d rise as more folks borrow. But in Nigeria where there is little mass lending going on, majority of d charges are compulsory & apply even to all. in many Western economies, Banks employ "trick-and-trap" fees by hiding them in the complicated terms of agreement that accompany many transactions, which effectively trick folks into unknowingly paying exorbitant costs & charges. So d bank charges rip off is a global phenomenon. THE NIGERIAN FACTOR What is iniquitous about Bank Charges in Nigeria however, is the compulsory nature of many of them; their many titles & how most of d charges apply regardless of your banking habits. You can deposit N1millon into a current account in Nigeria, don’t use the account at all but come back in 5yrs to meet Thousands has been deducted in numerous charges by the bank. According to World Bank reports; up to 60% of Nigerians are unbanked. That is; they do not have bank accounts at all. Yet in Nigeria Bank charges represents as much as 75% of some Banks Revenue. In the USA, that is 20% on average, although it can be as high as 40% in some regional banks. Instead of earning money by borrowing and lending money to the real economy, banks in Nigeria simply turn to fees & charges to boost profits with the acquiescence and even encouragement of d CBN(Central bank of nigeria). CBN is headed by a Banker who is sympathetic to his constituency (commercial banks) & their need for more profit. Hence even d restrictions imposed by Sanusi that reduced the burden of charges have been reversed by Emefiele SYMPATHY WITH D BANKS - THEIR HIGH COST OF DOING BUSINESS Banks will understandably argue they have a huge cost to cover if they are to operate successfully in Nigeria. While Nigeria needs 60,000 ATMs to serve the everyday cash needs of Nigerians, there are only about 18,000 ATMs across the country all owned by banks. So, to ensure the machines keep working fine maintenance is outsourced to companies such as Inlaks Computers, Computer Warehouse Group (CWG), NCR, and others. These companies are paid a fixed fee for the maintenance of each machine which may range from N200,000 to N550,000 per ATM. These cost pressures led to Banks successfully lobbying the CBN to allow ATM Charges under Emefiele. According to sources; GTBank pays the vendor in charge of its ATMs N250,000 per machine per year while UBA pays about N280,000 per ATM per year. Read more on CBN policy on Bank charges |

Career / How To Get An Internship Placement In A Major Company Without Knowing Anybody by jukekeocha: 8:45pm On Aug 23, 2019 |
For many others, they are yet to get IT placements and for some, they may have started at a roadside shop while waiting for "God to pick their call"... Or better still, while waiting for an offer from the many major companies they've applied to online or physically. I've interacted with many of them and yeah... They'll be quick to say that they don't know anybody in those companies and are only hoping on God for a miracle. Unfortunately, the sad reality in Nigeria is that to even get an internship placement in a major company, you have a know a senior staff there. A company like Total E&P (they actually conduct a very fair screening process but they are very selective) would require you get your application endorsed by a senior staff before you're even considered to be invited for the screening test. So then... What's the solution? What should someone do if he doesn't know anyone working in any company? The answer lies in a platform many of us are well aware of... LinkedIn... Unfortunately, many don't know how to use it to achieve their goals... Unfortunately, I've seen people just go to LinkedIn, go to the comment section of someone's post or maybe to their own wall and write something like... Hey, I'm XYZ, an undergraduate EEE student of FUTO and I'm currently looking for an IT placement in any engineering firm Please, help me and I will be grateful. I have a lot of problems with this method and while it may work for someone, it actually pisses many persons off. But that will be the topic for another day. 1. Identify the companies you would like to intern with One of the first things you should do as a 400L student still looking for IT placement... You need to identify companies you'd want to work with. You can enquire from your friends in higher levels or graduates to know where they did theirs and get ideas on places you can look out for. You may want to focus on a particular industry or just be general... That's your choice. 2. Behind up your LinkedIn profile Just in case you don't have a LinkedIn profile, you can create one easily. Draft a very concise and catchy summary. That's the first step to selling yourself on LinkedIn It's unfortunate when people use something like Student at FUTO as their profile summary... Next, include tasks or positions you've held as your experience. This will help you present yourself as someone with good leadership qualities. Add your educational history... You can include your current class of degree if it's good. I've also seen people include some major courses they've done there. You can add awards you've previously got, certificates and certifications you've obtained, online courses you've taken, etc. Just add anything you feel can help to sell you better. Learnclax post on HOW TO GET AN INTERNSHIP PLACEMENT IN A MAJOR COMPANY WITHOUT KNOWING ANYBODY explains it all check it out for 5 other tips |

Science/Technology / What The Big Bang Theory Have Failed To Explain by jukekeocha: 2:25pm On Aug 16, 2019 |
In the Biblical account of creation as we can see in the first two chapters of Genesis, the central message the inspired scriptural author wants that God is the Creator of all things that exist, including man, whom he created in his image and then made him head of all his creatures. An important remark to make here is that the account of creation given in the bible is not an attempt to give a sequential account of the beginning of things. The literary genre used in indicating from first to the seventh day of creation should not be understood with the modern scientific method. The point here is that the aim of the sacred author was not to present the things in their sequential order according to how they were created, but to show that none of the existing realities emerged out of chance or any other scientific hypothesis but all are creatures of one Creator God and that all were created from nothing. Therefore, “the attempt to find scientific information in Genesis is dubious theology as well as dubious science. By treating it as if it were a book of science ahead of its times, we tend to neglect both the human experience that lie behind it and the theological affirmations it makes”. If we say that there was something before creation, and that this thing is not God, then it means that there were many uncreated realities before time itself. But this cannot be because several materials existing at the same time must be traceable to one primary origin. All existing things existed from something. That is, all existing things are conditioned realities. For these to be conditioned, there is necessity for just one unconditioned reality otherwise, there is no existence for the conditioned realities which cannot cause their own existence. This unconditioned reality, or in the words of Aristotle and later by Thomas Aquinas, the Uncaused Cause, is the only one true God, the Creator of all. We cannot hold that God created things from something, otherwise it will amount to saying that there was something before the “beginning” which does not hold. Both science and theology holds that there was a time when there was nothing. Hence, there was a time when there was no time for time itself is a product of a “beginning”. On the part of science, this time is zero time, that is “no time”. The Big Bang theory, for instance, holds that before the big bang, there was nothing including time. For this theory, the big bang was the beginning of time itself. Thus, in a standard big bang theory, it is meaningless to ask “what went on before the big bang?” This is because there cannot be a “before” the big bang. Physicists believe that time is something physical and since it is part of a physical universe, it follows that if the physical universe had a beginning, then time and space themselves had then too. On the part of theology, St. Augustine, defending that God created out of time, thereby making time also a product of God’s creation, says that it is meaningless asking “what was God doing before creation?”. For Augustine, there was no time “before” the Beginning. Time for him is a creation of God, and just like created world that had a beginning, time also had a beginning. However, we can see that the two positions accepted the fact that there was a moment when there was no time, that is to say, there was a moment of “beginning” of all things including time itself. The problem lies in that while science stops at the big bang moment, theology, basing on philosophical metaphysics, goes beyond big bang which is a material reality, and thus a conditioned reality, to look at the unconditioned cause of the big bang itself. Therefore, in order to solve the problem regarding the “beginning” of things, physical theories must admit the metaphysics. Thus, the “scientific evidence for a beginning can be combined with a metaphysical premise (such as ‘from nothing, only nothing comes’) to render a metaphysical conclusion that there must be something beyond physical reality which caused physical reality to exist”. From this premise, R.J Spitzer makes a very wonderful conclusion that embraces both physical and metaphysical proofs saying: If there is a reasonable likelihood of a beginning of the universe (prior to which there was no physical reality whatsoever) and (2) if it is a priori true that “from nothing, only nothing comes”, then it is reasonably likely that the universe came from something which is not physical reality. This is commonly referred to as a “transcendent cause of the universe (physical reality) or a “creator of the universe”. CONCLUSION Having shown the error of Big Bang theory in not identifying the Uncaused Cause of the universe but holding the origin of things to the material; in a sense, to an accident or chance, we cannot say that the theory is totally against the Christian doctrine of the fact of God’s existence and having Him as the Uncreated Creator of the universe. Science and faith are never in war with each other. What science needs is a simple humility of accepting its limits. Science, basing on its principles and methods, cannot go beyond the materials, hence, it has no capacity of penetrating into the metaphysical realities. Reality does not end with things that can be touched and explained. As a matter of fact, Big Bang theory accepts the fact that there was a moment when there was nothing including time. But this was only to demonstrate that Big Bang really occurred. But Big Bang cannot occur if there was no being who put it into motion for things cannot be their own cause or simply happen by chance. Thus, Pope John Paul II holds the truth about creation is only vaguely found in the mythological cosmogonies outside the Bible but pertains originally to divine revelation thereby making it to be a truth of faith. Learnclax article features insights before the big bang, the bang bang theory and the origin of things, the problems with big bang theory and God's creation of things. Basically it is a reconciliation between the bible's account of creation and the big bang. 2 Likes 1 Share |
Computers / History Of Computer Keyboard by jukekeocha: 11:33am On Aug 11, 2019 |
Inventor Christopher Latham schools did nail it, but his typewriter would end up being the forerunner of the most popular communication tools in the 21st century. Because even though in 1874,typing device that had one letter to each key wasn't exactly the most brilliant idea in history. Scholes typewriter was notable for introducing the now QWERTY layout which was effective because it kept letters that were commonly used together away fom each other to prevent the mechanical arms of the typewiter from hitting each other and causing jams. Now of course 'E' & 'R' ae placed together in lots of words and infact, the original design had a period where 'R' key is today. But whatever the reason is, QWERTY typewriter became popular and this keyboard layout made the standards for the teleprinters that became widespread in the early 20th century. So it wasn't surprising then that when actual computers like the 30 ton ENIAC started popping under the scene in 1940's. This same teleprinters ended up getting used for data inputs with that same QWERTY layout.setting the stage for the now familiar keyboard layout to be integrated into later machines that were less than an entire family of elephants In the 1960's Video terminals started becoming popular and this typically included keyboards that allowed users to quickly and easily manipulate data on the screen, instead of using cards or paper tape. Like these earlier teleprinters that were adapted for use of computers For full post and images visit the original posts on history of computer keyboard |
