Have only a Bsc for now. Definitely starting my msc next year. Currently working in the banking sector now as an operations staff.
I've got two pressing questions:

1) How flexible/possible is it to run an Msc program being an ops staff that spends most of the day on his desk? Will a part time msc give me much elbow room to juggle both?

2) Due to proximity, I hope to run the people program in a State Uni. First degree was in a Fed Uni. Aiming to go into lecturing soon, hope an msc from a state uni won't be ridiculed when one applies for a lecturing position?

Bank could actually start to lend money to businesses. They have been going after the cheap and easy money. Those items don't grown the economy.

Yes, you're right that most of the activities of bank in Nigeria is not helping the economy.... just parasitic income generating activities.

But you can't blame them anyways for not lending much to SMEs and other small start up firms. The Nigeria polity is just not favorable for many start up firms (too many problems militating against it) so such loans USUALLY go bad. To boot, Nigerians have a very poor credit culture.



Besides, cheap deposits generates interest from CBN and interbank lending quicker than lending through loans will.

Tough time for the banking sector. Emefiele is blocking most avenue of income making for banks : harmonization of CRR for both public and private fund, TSA, Near-elimination of ATM withdrawal charges, and the proposed COT reduction... thereby straining the earning powers of banks.

Even if the govt cuts all loopholes, our revenue base would still be grossly inadequate for a nation of 170 million people, Nigeria has an annual federal budget of $30billion. That's less than that of Angola($45Billion). Nigeria is the most undertaxed nation on earth, you can't run a welfare state for 179 million people on a $30 billion dollar budget, a third of which is consumed on fuel subsidy and the rest on recurrent expenditure.

You have some valid points but I still insist that tax increment in the face of brazen financial recklessness by Government tantamount to putting the cart before the horse.

Let the Government work on financial prudence first rather than increase VAT that Producers will finally pass down to consumers to bear the brunt.

This is a knee-jerk policy IMO.

Low oil prices wouldn't have posed much challenges if the Nigerian Government at all levels isn't utterly profligate.

The country is riddled with numerous issues militating against industries and production, plus unemployment is on the high and you think its the right time to increase VAT.

Let PMB patch up the numerous holes from which the national treasury trickles away for starters, not VAT Increment
