Romance / Re: Why do many ladies prefer a salary earner to a budding entrepreneur? by JustKeen(m): 2:44pm On Jan 01, 2016
Toks2008:

I guess a typical Nigerian dating Seun in 2006 you would have asked him to forget his dream of owning the largest online forum in Africa and start distributing CVs to all the companies in Nigeria abi?

There was a time Dangote was selling sugar, salt and so on in ridiculous small quantity and im very positive a typical Nigeria lady would have asked him if he will not mind adding a paid job to augment.
Funny how you comfortably used two exceptions to make general rules. For every Seun that aimed to own the largest African online forum and succeeded, there are over 100 that failed. For every successful Dangote, there are over 500 that tried and failed.

@ OP, the reality in Nigeria is that its very difficult succeeding from the scratch as an entrepreneur. Too many factors likely to nip your efforts in the bud. Agreed paid job has its risks too, but the risk factor in "budding entrepreneurship" is graver. Its a journey one can still undertake if one feels one has the grit and means. But any lady that wishes her man settles for paid job than entrepreneurship is doing so from a valid fear underpinned by realistic understanding of the present political economy of the country

The POS may be stolen. I don't think they're that dumb to open a POS in their names. According to the writeup, they only use the POS to validate that the pin is correct. TheI plan is to go to an ATM and do the actual withdrawal before authorities are notified.
You're right. Will be pretty hard tracking them in that instance

So the girl is now a who.re. that receives pecuniary gains for sex? You see how some of you women belittle most of you? Height of selfishness and sense of entitlement.

@ OP,
Out of sight, out of mind. Its a sad reality, He has a warmer and nearer company there. He just wants the relationship to die a natural death instead of breaking up with you. You can't force think things, just let him be. If another nigggga that catches ya fancy comes along, get stringed.

Been a fairly great year for me.

- Was confirmed from my probationary period as a staff
- moved into my modest apartment tastefully furnished
- Escaped a fatal accident
- Bought a plot of land

My only regrets this yr is that I was kinda reckless with my finances. And I failed to get into a stable relationship.

Nxt yr will be better.... Shalom

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: NBC Offer And Access Bank Offer, Which One Should I Go For Please? by JustKeen(m): 7:56pm On Dec 15, 2015
Lol.
Congrats first.

Better go for NBC. Banking sector is hell now. Industry-wide Massive lay offs already, more to come next yr, though this will affect the older guys more than entry level staffs. But you go feel the retrenchment based on greater work load and bigger target.

Also, banking experience is almost limited, spend 5 yrs in Banking and na another bank you fit port to. 5 yrs in FMCG will open more doors.

Banking pays more tho. In all, it depends on you.

But if I were you, I will gladly go for NBC.

Take this from an MT banker with 17 months experience who wants to PORT ASAP.

Yes, majority are still serving and jobless,so, how does this add positively to the thread. Is it now a sin/crime to be jobless. Why are many youths like this ? What makes you think they are not exploring other opportunities?? Because they drop comments on NL. Whose business is it that you forget you applied to shell ?? Don't be too critical about what does not affect your well being .
Have ya fill of ranting, bro. Won't go down that lane with u.

55 pages of ranting before phone interview o. This only shows that majority of the applicants are either still serving or jobless after nysc (sorry if that comes across as harsh). If no be NL notification, I dun forget say I applied for Shell sef.

Y'all berra take your minds off this shell stuff for a while. Rest your thumbs, cast your nets wide and explore other opportunities. Shell recruitment na "hoping for the best but expecting the worst "

The point is only few organizations do employ based on merit like shell and the big Four firms... others are based on connections especially banks. Though this should not discourage us graduates. We still gotta be optimistic till we get employed. That is it.
Lies. This long leg stuff works mostly in public sectors. No private firm that needs all the capable hands it can get to make profit will pick a less qualified candidate over a qualified one, tho that doesn't.negate the reality that a few hands in the private sector get in thru the back door.

I got an entry level job paying over 160k monthly 3 weeks.after NYSC in a bank.and I don't know even a janitor in the bank. I wasn't even invited for the test cos I didn't apply. Just saw the thread on nairaland and gatecrashed it. Passed the test n interview in Lagos. Went to TS and it was 2 weeks after I started work that HR asked me to formally write a backdated application letter for record purposes.

The system is corrupt yea, but lots of graduates are just too timid and like excuses. I went to Lag over 6 times during NYSC job hunting. Shell, Got dropped @ KPMG partner interview, PwC, GTBank et al.

What you need is INFORMATION. And a desire. A burning desire.

Started studying GMAT and SHL from NYSC orientation camp.

@ every grad reading this, make job hunting a job. Practice test question formats like SHL, GMAT, Dragnet et al. Keep applying. Gatecrash if possible, no be who call police dey always win case. When u dazzle em employers, they can't help but give u that offer letter.

Keep the hope alive.

Hello house,
Pls, experienced persons in d house should help me out.
I finished d second part of shell online assessment since Friday , Nov 13, yet no reply from shell.
what does that imply?
I m kinda confused right now.
thanks all
Let me guess you took your test late on Friday?

Did mine on Saturday. Having the same issue here.

I'm thinking maybe the reply is not automated hence a HR person needs to review your test score before you get a reply though this is just a conjecture.

Anyways, keep the hope alive since you didn't get a regret mail. By Monday or so, we'd know better.
Cheers!
