Cryomancer: MDX... Nice car but with unfriendly fuel consumption. I doubt that your budged will get you a toks for the year mentioned. The parts are not scarce and also not pricey compared to Highlander or Rav4 original parts (except you are buying fake toyota parts).
If you still insist on premium built vehicles for that your budget, i'll advise you even go for Volvo XC90 and you'll get good value for money. Before you listen to anybody who might criticize volvo here, make sure you have at least test drive an XC90 first and check the premium build.
My two cents Thanks a lot for this. |

ojeysky: Clearing of MDX now is more than 3m and this one has been there for 6 months? Factored in demorage? Seller may just want to sell at a loss and move on. Am in that situation with one of my cars as well.
MDX is certainly a great car, just make sure your oxygen sensors and catalyst are intact. I use Acura as well(RDX) the performance of that car is better compared to rav4(RDX). In the case of MDX it's similar to highlander in performance Thanks for this insight boss. It's like I will wait till I have a family to consider this MDX |

venabili: Its really tough buying cars now. The car is not yet cleared. Shipped in like 6 months ago for someone else. Heard clearing alone go reach N2.7m.
I hope the car is a good one sha. Never used an acura before Hmm...this is not good new sha. I guess I should jejely look towards sedans. or Ford edge like he suggested ericuzor: buy ford edge, all will drive it's better |

Apologies to CRv owners o. 😁 For me, it's just the gear placement 😆 |

DerFuhrer: Wow! Didn’t know prices have gone up this high. Go for your Mdx then. You’ll enjoy it. Fan love for Toyotas in Nigeria is why it's so high 😭 |
Autos › Re: Thoughts On Buying An Acura MDX 2010-2013 In 2024? by JustSprung(op): 2:49pm On Dec 22, 2023 |
DerFuhrer: Solid car, driven a friend’s own a few times. Only concern is its fuel consumption but I think you’ll be fine.
PS: I agree with you on the gear shifters of the 2006 and below CR-Vs. But the look and placement of the shifter gets better from 2007.
I think you should seriously consider the 2013/2014 CR-V. They’ve got great handling and are more fuel efficient. They do look nice, better than RAV-4 of the same year but sheesh, way out of budget

Elxandre: I think it's pretty reliable. Also looking at the 2008 but you have to be sure the fuel consumption won't be too much draining for you. Thanks. Since I won't be driving much, I'm hoping it will won't be too much honestly. |
Autos › Thoughts On Buying An Acura MDX 2010-2013 In 2024? by JustSprung(op): 10:26am On Dec 22, 2023 |
I'm serioulsy looking to buy my first car in 2024 and after much consideration, I would like to go for the Acura MDX between models from 2010-2013. As much as I would not like something too old, I excluded the 2014 seeing that its a style change and totally above my budget, budget being 6m to 7.5m for tokunbo ( based on prices seen on Jiji. ng)
I initially thought of the Camry 2012 or Accord 2013 but seeing that their price range from 7m+, I figured I might just do an SUV instead. Didnt look the way of the CR-V earlier models because of that gear placement that seems like that of a truck (no vex dear CRV owners 🙏🏼) and the RAV-4 is way too expensive for any model that is less than 12 years old.
Going through the forum, I see most people mention that since the MDX is a luxury car so parts are scarce and slightly pricey and that the fuel economy isn't that good. For context, I would mostly be driving this to the gym, church and the occasional weekend outing.
Looking for honest reviews of this car model and even from owners of earlier models.
Thanks in advance. |

Really love the design too, and would likely pick it sef but somehow it feels like in Nigeria there's a lot of bias towards the Toyota brand 😄 Thanks for your input nurey: 2013 upwards accord is a very good buy as long as the unit you are buying as naija used is in good condition.
All vehicles you listed are okay but I would prefer naija used accord 2013 to naija used camry 2012. Better build quality, more refined, good looking |

Thanks to everyone contributing to this thread. I'm an intending first time car buyer and my budget is a hard 5m. Don't know how to drive yet sha but I go run am.
My options right now are the Camry 2012 LE (Nigerian used) Accord 2011/12 Toks
Speaking to friends I've been advised against getting a Nigerian used Honda that's why I didn't bother putting the 2013 there.
For more context, I work frm home and wouldn't really be putting a lot of miles on so I know the wear and tear would be minimal over time.
Which would you guys recommend? Are my friends being false alarmist for cancelling out a naija used 2013 accord?
Hoping to buy in a few months before costs rises again 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️. Thanks all. |

Thanks a lot for this breakdown. Really put's things into perspective. Seems like the Corolla might be it nurey: Reliability both are on par, I know for sure accord is top in reliability in the medium size sedan category while Corolla is top also in the compact size category.
Corolla is more fuel efficient as you are comparing a 1.8L i4 to 2.4 or 2.0L i4 for the accord.
The accord also has a V6 engine which is 3.5L, the loss in fuel economy is compensated by power for the accord, the vehicle moves fast and very responsive.
Both vehicles are okay and very distinct, family man and business oriented accord would fit you, Corolla is good for a family man just trying to start like.
If you want to drink water would you rather buy Eva bottled water (accord) or satchet pure water (corolla) both would quench your thirst with differing purity satisfaction |

I mean as per Nigerian used ones. But that 3.5m is based on adverts I see on Jiji. Possible? Philadelphia: Remove the Corolla from being in same picture with the Accord.
That said, your budget will only get you a 2009/2010 Corolla or same year Accord.
You wanna chill with the big boys, then add between 1m & 2m to your budget to get the Accord in the picture you uploaded.

How about in terms of reliability (as this seems to be the selling point for nigerians) and fuel consumption? nurey: Accord is miles ahead of the Corolla. |

Hi everyone,
Asking this a would-be first car buyer. I'm looking to get a nice car that is not so old so looking at Nigeria used models of a Corolla 2013 vs Accord 2013. Which would you recommend and why? Thanks. Budget at most is 3.5m
