NAF DEPLOYS SPECIAL FORCES ELEMENTS, ADDITIONAL PLATFORMS TO BOOST ONGOING OPERATIONS IN KATSINA In furtherance of President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive on the launch of a major crackdown against bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements in Katsina and other States in the North West of the Country, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 22 May 2020, injected Special Forces (SF) operatives and deployed additional platforms to Kastina State. The arrangement is to consolidate on the already existing security architecture in the State in order to ensure the success of the ongoing renewed offensive against the armed bandits under the auspices of the Defence Headquarters (DHQ)-led Operation HADARIN DAJI. In his address during the deployment, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, represented by the Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command (AOC SOC), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Charles Ohwo, stated that the deployment was informed by the need to quickly add value to the current effort by all security agencies to decisively deal with acts of banditry and criminality in Katsina State and the entire Northwestern Nigeria. He disclosed that precursor air operations that commenced 2 days ago had already yielded positive results with some armed bandits’ camps destroyed, thereby further degrading the fighting capability of the criminals. He said the deployment of the additional SF operatives would complement the successes so far recorded to ensure the activities of bandits, kidnappers, cattle rustlers and other criminal elements are curtailed. Speaking further, the representative of the CAS assured the good people of Kastina State that the NAF, working in synergy with sister Services and other security agencies, would continue to do its utmost to ensure a return to normalcy in the area. He also thanked the Executive Governor of the State, Governor Aminu Bello Masari, for his support and encouragement towards ensuring the success of the Operation. AVM Ohwo charged the troops to continue to uphold the NAF’s core values of ‘Integrity’, ‘Service before Self’, and ‘Excellence’ as they carry out their assigned tasks. The Katsina deployment is coming just few days after the NAF had deployed SFs and Combat Search and Rescue operatives to Nasarawa and Plateau States. Which aircraft cockpit is that? It doesn't look familiar. A mix of analogue and MFD would suggest an upgrade or an early version 4th Gen fighter.

Patented:Nigerian soldiers need better equipment and constant training and retraining. It is not possible to cover a large area of operation like the NE with ISR 247. Although we still need to continue building our ISR capabilities. We need more and more MRAPs in the field. |
bidexiii:Exactly Sir. The side mirrors were the first thing I noticed. |
shadowprimezero:Why does this vehicle look different? It looks like some in-country refurbishment work was carried out on it. |

Our brother SSBN / Defense News Nigeria has made a truly inspiring post on twitter this morning. He has truly encapsulated the Nigerian spirit in his series of tweets. This is the kind of support Nigerian soldiers need to see, not the demoralization of Sahara reporters.com When the army was busy pounding Boko-Haram senseless, we did not see Sahara reporters, with this unfortunate incident they have seen an opportunity to gloat and spread fear.
|
This is the kind of threat Nigerian soldiers are currently facing in the North-East. As we can see this sort of explosive can destroy an MRAP, not to talk of a light skin vehicle. A vehicle narrowly escaped destruction. The Nigerian army needs to invest in lots and lots of MRAPs for front line troops. I believe there are advantages that light skin vehicles provide in combat. If we look at how Syrian military bases fell during the initial stages of the war, the terrorists employed multiple trucks mounted with heavy machine guns and attacked from different positions. However MRAPs and Light Skin vehicles should be complementary. We really need to increase the Ratio to at the minimum 50/50.

Faithful007:I have never been in that position, and I cannot claim to understand the trauma he is currently under, but that kind of video can demoralize the entire army fighting in the North-East. You're doing more for BHT than anything their own propaganda can ever achieve. Don't forgot that the terrorists have been on the back foot. |
bidexiii:OK Sir. Now I get. |
Let us not forget that 78 members of ISWAP and 56 from Boko Haram died in less than four days of the launch of Operation Kantana Jimlan, 16 informants arrested also. Let's us not forget that more than 500 Boko-Haram/ISWAP terrorists have been killed since the start of this offensive. We would continue to thank our soldiers, our Officers & Generals that are doing their best to keep Nigeria safe. This unfortunate incident will not change the fact that our army, the Nigerian army is fighting and giving the blood thirsty terrorists a bloody nose. Thank a Nigerian soldier today!!! Thank our boys in the field!!! May God bless them, their families and our Republic.

bidexiii:I think the others escaped. |

shadowprimezero:This is false. The Reva MRAPs are very poor. They were used by the best funded unit in the front line. They came as a total package. It had nothing to do with rush or maintenance. The MRAPS from China were bought by the same administration, why are they still active. The T-72s were also bought by the same administration, but second hand, yet they are still active in the frontlines. We should not have bought the Reva, 50 units purchased, yet not a single unit is in active service. How is that for brand new equipment? |
bidexiii:They did not last at all. 50 units just gone to waste like that. |
Nigerian army Reva MRAPs Man, these vehicles did not last in Nigerian military service. I think they are terribly engineered vehicles.

DICON and Proforce are not joking, they intend to make considerable progress.
|
slimthugchimee2:Exactly, Ezugwu 1 has so many errors. However they constantly changed. With the support of the Nigerian army, they constantly improved. In this photos we can see the DG of DICON and many DICON engineers on a facility tour to Proforce. They are eager to learn and improve their own methods. You can see him checking out vehicles and tooling/fabrication equipment.
|
joshingjosh:Very ignorant person he is. |
Tobiloba2407:This is not entirely true. You didn't offer any credible criticism, just accusations of unfounded claims of corruption like you're currently doing. Nigeria can't have a developed Defence industry especially in land systems if we have only one armoured vehicle manufacturer. Competition breeds quality products. The ARA 2 did not become a world class MRAP over night, there were many, many trial and errors. Each iteration was shipped to the Nigerian army for testing, same thing with the Ezugwu. There has been clear improvements between Ezugwu 1 and Ezugwu 2. There would continue to be improvements going forward. Let us learn to appreciate indigenous efforts, as we cannot continue to import vehicles for our security needs. When in many instances Nigeria paid for equipment but the seller did not deliver. Ezugwu 2 has 4 rear tyres, I'm sure this was done to help improve mobility. It's ballistic protection is excellent, at least we have all seen the videos of 2 Nigerian soldiers firing DICON & Ezugwu MRAP with AK-47 at close range. We have not seen how it would perform with an IED but we can see that it has a very good V-shaped hull. I'm sure the issues we have heard will be fixed, but as it is, there is no other option than to support made in Nigeria. In supporting made in Nigeria, we cannot only have one supplier. Proforce are where they are today because the army and federal government through multiple agencies have supported them. How come you did not see corruption there? |

shadowprimezero:These are very serious issues. We hope they get sorted out as soon as possible. |
shadowprimezero:For real, in what areas? |
