The wife of the late Biafra Warlord, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Bianca, has strongly stated that there is no justification for the categorization of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, as terrorist group by the Nigerian Army and the ban of the group by the governors of the SouthEast.

She said there shall be another spring up to proof the terrorist tagging of the IPOB group wrong.

“The Federal Govt has just declared IPOB a terrorist Organisation after the Operation Python Dance 2 debacle with its attendant military occupation of our homeland. There is simply no justification for this categorization. The members of this movement do not bear arms. While I might have reservations about their sometimes provocative rhetoric as well as some of their tactics, this branding is to say the least, extreme.

“Ndigbo bear a painful historical burden. We lost almost 3 million of our people, almost a quarter of our population at the time between 1966 and 1970 in our battle for survival. Global and Regional Organisations did nothing; the world superpowers and most foreign governments looked the other way…and little has changed since then.

“Otherwise the horrendous crimes against humanity would not have occurred in Rwanda, Darfur, Ethiopia, Somalia and the Congo, not to mention Syria.

“Someone once said that the world laments atrocities only in aftermath, but not in the lead up when something could have been done. We have travelled this road before. We are now walking the minefield. When the tanks roll in, and the casualties begin to mount, the world will yet again call it another ‘internal matter’ or ‘ ethnic conflict’. And tell us that we ought to be grateful that we were not exterminated upon surrender.

“We owe it to the memory of those who we loved and lost, who were let down by those who could have come to their rescue, and who paid the supreme price in our battle for survival to say NEVER AGAIN. OZOEMENA.

“This is the time to apply the brakes. We must impress it upon our youth, who have become disillusioned and have lost hope in our collective existence in a union in which they feel increasingly excluded and isolated, the need to tread with caution. There is need to explore other avenues, and the doors must never be shut against dialogue.

“Surely another spring shall rise, in God’s own time , But what every onye Igbo must rise up against is this categorization of IPOB or any other pro Biafra movements which are not armed militias as terrorist organizations, and the increased military presence in the South East.”

Following the recent ban of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB by the South-East governors and its declaration as terrorist group by Defence Headquarters, Police arrested 59 IPOB members, revealing by the Abia State Police Commissioner, Anthony Ogbizi, that the apprehended members will face trials as terrorist.

Ogbizi said that other members found with Biafra symbols will arrested and also tried as terrorists.

This development came up after Pres. Muhammadu Buhari conducted a closed-door meeting with some northern governors before leaving for New york where he will be meeting with other world leaders for the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly, UNGA.

The police confronted a 21-year-old LGBT student, Scout Schultz at the campus in Atlanta after they received a call about "a person with a knife and a gun" late on Saturday, police officials reveals.

The student disobey several police orders to drop the weapon she was carrying, following the footage.

Schultz's mother said the police shouldn't have used fatal force, as the video showed the student of Georgia Institute of Technology, shouting "Shoot me!" while she moved closer to the police making one of them to pull the trigger on her.

The student, who could not be identified as a male or female was not with a gun, according to investigators, claiming false the former report of the police. However, the computer engineering student gave up her ghost following the gunshot, the Georgia Bureau of investigation said.

The officer who shot down the student was not named, and no police officer was found dead or injured.

The mother of the student, Lynne further said that Scout who was active politically.

She also revealed that Schultz had many medical issues and it resulted to depression, led scout to attempt to commit suicide last two years.

"Why didn't they use some nonlethal force, like pepper spray or Tasers?" she was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

Schultz was the president of the Pride Alliance at Georgia Tech.

"We are all deeply saddened by what has occurred," the group said in a statement.

"They have been the driving force behind Pride Alliance for the past two years," the group said, using Schultz's preferred pronoun. "They pushed us to do more events and a larger variety events."

IJAW Youth Council, IYC, has angrily criticise the recent ban of Indigenous People of Biafra, by the South-East governors, saying it's unthinkable.

In a statement released by the Council, they declared the ban as “unconstitutional as it is targeted to silence right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association” when “herdsmen that have massacred thousands of unarmed Nigerians across the country have not been declared terrorists.”


The statement further said: “The government should also jettison its plan to re-arrest Nnamdi Kanu. The only solution is to engage him in dialogue.”

The statement by Mr. Roland Pereotubo, President of the Youth body, angrily said the governors' action to ban IPOB was “more of cowardice as it cannot stop the agitation in the region.


“Their (South-East governors) rash and brazen action is even at variance with international treaties empowering indigenous people to pursue self-determination through non-violence.

“IPOB members are only fighting for their rights through non-violence means. They felt marginalised, segregated and dejected. Oppression and injustice are the reasons why they are fighting for their freedom.

“The non-violence approach they took is within the ambit of international treaties, especially the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights, which have empowered indigenous people in any of the member countries, who feel oppressed, to seek for freedom. These treaties are being codified in our domestic laws.

“The solution to IPOB, MASSOB and BIM’s separatists struggle in the South-East as well as the militants’ agitations in the Niger Delta region is through dialogue as no amount of proscription of these armless associations will cow the people into submitting their agitations to the oppressors.”

IYC voiced out to the South-East governors to stand up to their responsibilities and meet with the President to address issues of marginalization and one-sided appointments in the Southeast.

A staff of EcoBank Plc, Titilayo Adeyemo, was yesterday arraigned before an Igbosere magistrates for supposedly scamming the back customer of N5.8 million on Lagos.

The accused, age 40, who live at Banjoko street, Gbagade, Lagos, currently being charge of Fraud, Forgery and conversion.

Inspector Abass Abayomi, who is the prosecutor disclosed to the court that the accused carried out the supposed offence sometime around May and October 2016.

He explained that the event took place as the Gbagada branch of Eco Bank.

The Inspector said the defendant forged a receipt and told the complainant to fill the receipt which is not from the Back.

The prosecutor stated that the offence has violated section 285(7), 361 and 323 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Notwithstanding, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, and was granted bail.

Magistrate Chiamaka released the accused on N5 million bail with two sureties, who are fully employed.

The Magistrate adjourned till September 19.

A terrifying situation appeared after fisherman who is facing decompression sickness developed a deformed body after doctor proceeded treatment on him.

The man, Peruvian Alejandro Martnez, who is a seafood fishermen, went looking to edible creatures in the deepest parts of local ocean in South American, but a strange thing occurred after he made a mistake and nitrogen dissolved and form bubbles in his blood.

The effect of the nitrogen made his body to raise nearly 32kg in weight, making his chest and arms ballooned. He has since been suffering from high pain.

An annual La Tomatina festival which takes off in the Spanish town of Bunol in Valencia, attract residers from home and abroad to the river of tomatoes.

The festival takes place on every last Wednesday of August annually and this years makes it the 72nd year of the traditional festival.

Over 160 tons of ripe tomatoes were released by population of over 22,000 half-naked festival celebrators.

This is seen as the "world's biggest food fight" as it last for several hours of the day.

In other to tackle the high rate of building collapse in Lagos state, the government started the demolition of 114 marked houses proven to be weak, yesterday.

57 of the 114 building would be demolished in the first season of demolition, Vanguard reports.

Reports disclosed that officials of Lagos State Building control Agency, (LASBCA) arrived Lagos Island yesterday, where not less than 34 out of the 114 are located.

Bigger percentage of the buildings being picked for demolition are from two-storey to four-storey buildings, according to Vanguard.

Attesting to the event that played out, General Manager, LASBCA, Lekan Shodehinde, unveil that the weak buildings on the island were picked and approved by the governor of the state for first section of demolition.

He also disclosed that the govenment had given notice to the house owners, seeing that the house has become weak.

He said the action of the government to fall weak houses is to avert the situation of losing lives.

Shodehinde revealed that the government have run out of patient following that the house owners are careless to demolish the building themselves.

Explaining further, Shodehinde said before the demolition of the building, the house owners will be given 90days to pay for the demolitions services, and if they fail to do so, the land will take hold of the land.

He also said before the demolition of the buildings, many tests will be carried out.

On Tuesday, a 16-year-old housewife, Fatimah Mohammed told a Karu Upper Area Court to terminate her marriage with Tasiu Kasim, which has lasted for two years after accusing him of beating her and not taking up his responsibility.

“We got married in 2015 and I have a child for my husband, but since we got married there was no peace in the marriage.

“He is always fighting with me over petty and insignificant issues, he always beats me up whenever issues arise and this beatings are now unbearable for me.

“ Several times he was warned by elders in both families to stop beating me, but he refused.’'

“ My husband also abandoned his responsibility of taking care of me and my child; he doesn’t buy us clothes and other basic necessities.

She also said that her husband is always jealous of her, insisting she is cheating.

“ My husband is very jealous and because I am beautiful, he is in the habit of accusing me of dating other men and `selling my beauty for money.’

“ Is my mother who has been catering for me and my child,’’ Mohammed said.

She pleaded with the court to terminate her marriage, revealing that she has already moved out her belongings.

In response to the allegations, Kasim, instead of denying, begged the court to allow him talk to his wife so that she can change her mind.

“ I don’t have much to say to the court because I love my wife, and I know that she loves me too. We got married because we love each other.

“ The court should give us a little time to enable me approach her and sort out these issues. I do not consent to her request for divorce,”

Abdullahi Baba, the judge, suspended the hearing until Sept 8 to allow bother of them reconcile.

Last weekend, highway robbers evaded and ransacked a National Petroleum Corporation's (NNPC) mega filling station sighted along Katsina/Jibia road, and went away with money made for the day, then dispensed free petrol to motorists that visited the station at that particular time.

An eyewitnesses disclosed that the incident happened around 8pm on Saturday.

The motorists that got free petrol drove to the station being unaware that the station is under a robbery operation.

The motorists were baffled when the robbers after collecting the day sells money, started dispensing petrol to the motorists

The gave not less than three motorists free petrol before they left the station unarrested.

A witness said they lasted for "few minutes."

Efforts to reach the Katsina state Police command spokesman, Dsp Gambo Isa for confirmation was not made possible, Vanguard reports.

A foreigner who entered a taxi from Lagos airport was supposedly attacked by a dangerous Badoo cult group member in Ikorodu area of Lagos,

The White victim got to the hands of the Badoo member who was said to be a cab driver as he drove the victim to his house instead to butcher him, but surprisingly the Whiteman escaped death.

United Nations Officials have disclosed today, Saturday, the displaced persons triggered by the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been counted to 4 million, in the Volatile Kasai region.

The number two official at the UN's refugee agency(UNHCR), George Okoth-Obbo, said that their so responsible is to provide food and cloth for the 1.4 million who fled from their homes following the violence which has taken not less than 3,000 persons.

He raised alarm for quick protection, mainly on the children “who are sleeping in conditions that are difficult to imagine” as he visited the country on a three days stay.

According to the Norwegian Refugee Council, an NGO, violence between Pygmies and Bantus, in the southeastern province of Tanganyika, has made thousands to run away from their homes as the violence has lasted so long.

The violence bust out after the death of a tribal Chieftain, Kamwina Nsapu, who stood against the government of President Joseph Kabila's regime in Kinshasa.

The death erupted into violence that raised supposed violations of human rights, like rapes, tortures and illegal killings and enrollment of minor soldiers.

Added to it, estimated 33,000 Congolese have left Kasai, running to Angola, without any possible return.

“The conditions today in Kasai are such that we cannot encourage or promote the return of refugees,” Okoth-Obbo said.

He also said that the country will face responsibility of over 50,000 refugees running away from conflicts in South Sudan, the Central African Republic, Rwanda and Burundi.

Today, Imo state government this morning started the breaking down of Eke Ukwu market in Owerri, the state's capital. Government officials escorted by armed mobile police officers are currently carrying out the destruction of the market.

Trader were seen very unhappy concerning the demolition as some were seen in tears and sad faces. The traders believe the market should have been turned into a shopping hall instead of demolition.

One of the traders sadly told Lailasblog:

‘I just paid a non-refundable fee for a shop for 6 months on Thursday, how do I go about this, this is total wickedness and selfishness..I will only leave it for God’

One other trader said;

‘He claims to be the people’s governor, but couldn’t listen to them when they needed him’

The people of Imo state had been put into a sad condition ever since the governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha ordered the domolition of the market, explaining that the market causes serious traffik problems.

The Eke-Ukwu Owerri market is located at opposite a well-known Catholic Church in Owerri, St. Paul's and is reported to be as old as the state.

On Thursday, former minister for Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, through his twitter handle said that since President Buhari assumed office in May 29th 2015, he has spent 350 out of 740 days spent so far in a distanced country.

The former minister, in his write up titled: “ONE HUNDRED DAYS ABROAD AND STILL POSING FOR PICTURES”, censured the president for staying away in a foreign country for 100 days for an unrevealed sickness.

He also condemned the act of demeaning the "OurMumuDonDo" protesters asking for the resumption or resignation of the long seen president.

He maintained that Buhari's government has no regard for human right and civil liberties.

In his words,

“President Muhammadu Buhari has been away from our shores for over 100 days in a stretch treating an undisclosed and mysterious illness in far-away London.

“Since May 29th 2015 when he was sworn into office as President he has spent 350 of his over 740 days in power abroad treating the same strange ailment.

“Those that demand that he should “resume or resign” are being attacked and brutalised by security forces and agents of the state.
