That was why Ironsi and Ojukwu made a unitary decree because the Eastern part were generating little and crude oil wasn't as profitable then nor was it produced in huge commercial quantities in the 60's. Check out OPEC statistics on the sale of oil from 1956-1970 and you would realise crude oil wasn't a profitable resource that could be banked upon. Crude oil only became profitable in the late 70's and early 80's.

Fourthly, Nigeria fought in the civil war because Ibos had wanted to annex other people's lands into their accursed Biafra.
