@ dabigwalls: So Sorry!!, just saw your post - Awfully Late at that. @ Dee247: Motormark Service Center is at Conoil Mega Station, Lagos-Ibadan Express way, Alausa Ikeja. (Its after Total Station when coming from Secretariat side along the Express) Well, my email address is pshonubi at gmail****com. feel free to send me email if you have any other questions, i'm no expert but i have learned a lot about my cars to be really comfortable around them. I have an S80, an 4.4i X5 and a 1982 230e benz. The Volvo still offers the most comfortable driving experience, it's more of a pleasure ride, the X5 is a beast, not as comfy but more capable on the road. Ah, the Benz....well.... Now one thing with the s80 is that it's got a lot of electronics in it and when something goes wrong (and trust me something will) do not patch it up. Replacement parts are not that expensive. Love your car and she'll love you back. There are parts i buy from Ladipo and there are some i don't compromise with so i buy from the U.S (turns out a lot of the time, the U.S parts are cheaper! not to talk of the fact that you get the original replacements) Over time i have dealt with a lot of spare part dealers and i have been able to identify one or two that are trustworthy - i have since stayed with them. (Original Volvo parts: Ik - 08033056790) Of course it'll do you a lot of good to have a number of resources at your disposal. (1. Internet: most valuable, 2. Alldata diy account: www.alldatadiy.com, 3. OBD2 Scanner) If you have an S80 and have the scanned codes, i could easily help you look it up. @dabigwalls: Christmas lights on the dashboard isn't necessarily bad, it could be a result of a single replaceable component, and it could be otherwise (bad). What you should do is scan the car. If you can, do a complete scan (engine, transmission, ABS...all the works) you can find technicians with elaborate scanners, pay them 3k or 5k i think have them use their scanner do a complete scan of the car and give you print out the results. It'll be a good place to start. Like i tell people who care to listen, just because a car is common doesn't make it a good car. People will talk about getting reliable mechanics and all, i'll tell you this the technology you'll find in a 2000 volvo s80 is far ahead of what you'll find in most "common cars. Most of our mechanics will give a bad label to things they don't understand (they don't understand it - means it bad!) I'm shocked that up till now, you'll still find car owners that'll allow mechanics yank off the thermostat in their cars! Visit the Car talk section of Nairaland often, you'll get good resources there too (whatever car you get). There's so much to talk about....in time i guess. Bottom line, i LOVE the volvo, Engine is reliable, Transmission is good. things i spend money on the most are suspension parts: Control arm bushings, tie rod ends etc. gotta run. Cheers |
I came here this evening to investigate same matter for my 2003 BMW X5 (4.4i). Could it be the same issue? Mine moves imediately i engage drive but after driving a while esp. In traffic, it begins to have difficulty shifting from one gear to another the feeling is like stretched hic ups or gasps if i might say. And then you hear the thump as d gear shifts. Today, i was stuck in a 2 hr traffic and towards the end of it the car was almost not driveable (car won't move, feeling was like the maf was bad, car won't rev). I had to roll off the road, shut down and then restart (didn't help much though but the gear shifted a bit and also reved) i'm thinking low ATF also but your expert opinion is highly appreciated. (What do i do?) Thanks |
Hello, I'd like to have your email address or phone number. Kindly send either to 08055845376. I'll get back to you. Cheers |

@ info@lpf Thanks for the contact. I will give them a call. cheers |
@ folababa and anyone who might help i would very much like to know how you ship the parts. The shipping companies i have used so far have been pretty disappointing. I have been waiting to get parts for my X5 for well over 3 weeks now. The shipping company says it's been shipped, the clearing agent says he doesn't have my package on his manifest. It's so frustrating. I would very much appreciate it if you could help me with information about any reliable shipping company, preferably one that you have used. @ Poster i also have an S80 and like those who have owned Volvos have said, it's a very, very comfy car to drive. Yes, you need someone really competent to fix them and you should never compromise on them and whatever replacement parts you might need to use. That aside, i love my S80 and will buy another when i let go of the one i have currently. Volvo 4 life. If you choose to get one, i favor Naturally Aspirated Engine over the Turbo Charged ones - they are easier and a little cheaper to maintain. Cheers |
Mr Seller, can u send d pix of d intreior part(engine,etc) of d car 2 ds mail(abu_72007@yahoo.com, abubakar11bunmi@gmail.com) Tanx |

Hey!! Thanks a lot for your response, really appreciate it. Is there any particular ATF you'd recommend (rating, brand, )? (Saw one at the service center the other day, can't remember the name or brand but it's not the Mobil, Total, type. Will drop by tomorrow to verify. Definitely overlooked the the sensors, i'm hoping i can get them to buy around. Do they cost much? Haven't replaced the timing belt (90k + mileage). Was thinking i'd have it replaced at 105k. The Mechanic at the service center did clear it a few months ago but i noticed it when i had it scanned 2weeks ago trying to identify a misfiring cylinder. I guess i should just replace the sensor then. Thanks once again. |
There's one here. Call the number up if you can. He just might give you a good deal (if he still has it). https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-542554.0.html P.S: Don't let d price deter u. Give it a shot. cheers. |
Hello Sienna, Work on your car and invaluable wealth of information you so freely share goes a long way. Keep it up Bro. I would like your input on an issue with my 2003 BMW X5 (4.4i) 1.The Brake lining warning message remains on after changing the brake pads 2.When i drive, it drives smoothly - gear changes are ok but when i apply the brakes and try to slow down, i get some king of buckling effect (like it's gasping). At first i thought the brakes were acting up but thinking again, it felt like the gear is shifting to lower ones but i'd expect it should be smooth. (Do i need to change the transmission fluid?) 3.My 2000 Volvo S80 (non-turbo) brought up a CEL and after scanning, it says Variable Valve Timing over advanced and something about the Camshaft Reset Valve. If any part is unclear do let me know, i'd do my best to clarify. Your advise and suggestion is highly appreciated. Cheers |
Thanks a lot Onwan I actually intend to get it scanned this weekend (out of town at the moment). I'll post the results once i have it. Any idea how much the panel costs? |
In addition, The Pixel display on my MID and Console is bad, Letters and figures are incomplete. I've seen the problem on a number of BM's Any ideas as to hoe to fix that? Thanks |
Hello All, I have a problem with my X5. I have no prblem accelerating but as soon as i apply the brakes and start to slow down, the car buckles / jerks, i figure this happens when the gear system is seeking lower gears. I disengaged the automatic to drive manually and the same happens when i try to downshift, no problems going from 1st through 6th gear. I'm thinking gear oil change but the manual says it shouldn't be changed. Any ideas? Thanks |

Heloo oo bro, u suppose chop cane. Nobody needs to tell you she was the very wrongest. E be like say u too chop burger for oyinbo land wey come dey make u slow. |
As most people said: She has something to hide. Something she knows you won't approve of. One thing though, i can bet it. You won't like what you'll find when you find your way to her phone without her knowing. Take it from me, i'm a living testimony to that. Come to think of it, she doesn't want you to check her phone, not only because she has stuff to hide, but she's not willing to let go of the contents which probably means they more to her than you even saying you love her and want to marry her. She could have deleted whatever content she knows you won't approve of and allow you into her phone! If there is no trust in a relationship, Then it's not worth investing your life in. All the Best |
Don't worry Bro. I have one myself and i LOVE it. Well, yes you should have tried to get as much info about the vehicle (in fact: any vehicle) before buying but that doesn't matter now. Fuel economy is ok - 40L to Abuja with air-conditioning. You can see your fuel consumption information on the dash (Instantaneous and average). Most important rule is "Take care of your car n it'll take care of you". Since you've had a CEL on since you had it i'll suggest that you get an OBD II scanner to scan the vehicle (your mechanic should have one), let me have the codes the scanner returns. It's pretty important that you get that done soon preferably before you fix anything. In the event that you can't get one pretty soon, go ahead and replace the ignition coil - your mechanic should be able to manually isolate the misfiring cylinder if he doesn't have a scanner. Let's know how things go. There's a lot more to know about the car, send me an email, will give u my cell no. kamikazee0 at gmail dot com P.S What model year is it? Is it a 2.9 or T6? Cheers |
By the way, a new ignition coil will vary btw (10-14)k, and (6-7.5)k for a used one. where to get one? Lagos, your mechanic should be able to get you one. |
Yes, one (or more) of your cylinders might be misfiring (since your mechanic already replaced the spark plugs, i'd say ignition coil's gone bad ) but that should be noticeable when you drive the car (stuttering) - the idling might also be rough. Your check engine light should be on as stated above. Run a scan on the vehicle, see what it returns. "A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring." cheers |
Hello!!! |
Flush ur transmission fluid and and replace with one branded for the accord, unfortunately i can't recollect the name, i know sienna had some for sale a few months back. I'll try to find the thread and post it to you. Had a similar problem with my Volvo S80, it's working fine now. (Won't be suprised if the fluid level is low already-give it a check) Hope it helps. Cheers |
I need a new owner! |
