I don't know where to start from. I have virtually sold all I've got in a bid to recoup my loss.

It has been losses upon losses for me. I am a failure to my parent nd family. I can't look them to the face if they get to know my present predicament.

And I maintain that the rush of new entrants will still not meet the supply, harvest time. Even as we speak, the Cassava being planted right now has a market already. And I'm talking commercial here. Thousands of Hectares of land are being cultivated under outgrower-off taker agreements between farmer groups and companies producing Cassava Flour ALONE. A particular company in the South West for example has upped it's game massively to swallow the quantum of Cassava expected from their outgrowers next harvest. Funny thing is the Cassava will not scratch the surface of their demand. I expect Garri production will be left to small holder farms and even then, when the Cassava supply gets exhausted, these companies will then turn to those small holder farms for scarce Cassava.

I agree with you to the extent that at the start of harvest, prices might drop. However, it shouldn't and I daresay it won't bottom out the way it used to during glut cycles of old.

Yes, we still have a lot of ground to cover as far as medium scale processing goes. However, with the developments in processing of Cassava into Chips, Pellets, Grits, Starch, Flour by SMEs next harvesting season, all these derivatives will struggle for scarce Cassava at some point. Smart farmers that allow their Cassava remain unharvested till 12 months will smile to the Bank.
