Well, I actually wasn't planning on a detailed write-up but I will just make some suggestions. You need to visit Aba markets(especially Cemetery and Ariaria markets) and just from close observation you can find out what really moves within the market. I did this several years ago when I was just starting out in my business. You will be amazed at the discovery. When you know how profitable certain products are and more so when they are coming from a smaller or newer company you will be tempted to infuse the entire 2 million Naira into that business. I have also visited the trade-fair complex in Lagos and the Onitsha main market and observed very closely what matters. I daresay that one the best products that I am selling now is from a medium sized company located in the outskirts of Lagos and believe me the demand where I am now is super. They are not a very recognizable brand(as of yet)but I get what I want. As a matter of fact, I saw the product being offloaded in Aba and the struggle for it right as it was touching the ground was amazing. This was about three years ago and on questioning the distributor I bought some samples and ever since then there has been no regrets. On the issue of mentioning the names of the product, I don't think that will be very fair. There is this joy that comes with discovering the product your self. I must non the less add that I only sell foods and snacks that do not exceed the 50.00 price range. That I think is enough clue. |
OP, can you pm me your whatsapp number. there are a few questions I need to ask about this machine and business. |
OP, UNILEVER is a good company to deal with. just like P & G, Nestle, cadbury, chi, etc. However, two things I may bring to the fore here is the fact that these companies have a whole lot of distributors in Port Harcourt thus making the sales of their products quite competitive. It is all well and good but my humble opinion is that you shouldn't deal with only goods that are from these big names. There are very many new companies in the country now with great products seeking expression in the market place, if you try out your hands on these products then you may have a better launch pad while negotiating for an exclusive control of the market in Port Harcourt |
My sister works in the Accounting department of a large Food processing company in Ogun State. Their company is reviewing its Supplier base. One of the things they require in the company in very large volume is vegetable oil. They use about a lot of vegetable oil in the company. They approve 3 suppliers per product and each vendor is given a slot to supply 600 kegs(i.e 1 trailer load per month) and a minimum of 300 kegs. Payment is within 30 days. I have done all the necessary research and have discovered the sources for the Oil and the prices involved and have even calculated the margins which though rather minimal but still very reasonable. Guarantee of payment is almost 100% especially with my personal person right inside the accounts department. I am interested in venturing into this business but cannot muster the capital required. Is there any one in the house interested in this business? Could we partner or could I sell you the monthly allocation? I would also prefer spomeone with some knowledge of the V/ oil business. Please send me a pm. |
There are so many people who have benefited from starting small distribution chains in their various neighbourhoods. You can even read various testimonies of their successes even here on Nairaland. Bread for instance is a great business. Biscuits are also distribute among mallams, pkantain chips and others. You must however think about it carefully before you start. |
Op, depending on where you stay, your best bet is to start a distribution/mass sales of products from small and medium scale companies who aere trying to penetrate your area. You probably don't need up to 200k. with appropriate planning you could start with 100k and plough back the proceeds daily and in 3 months you would have recouped you initial investment. |
OP I have done business for over 20 years now and I have really given a hard and long thought to how 4 million can actually be trippled within 30 days using a reasonably safe model. Its simply not possible. You probably could achieve this within one year comfortably and maybe 6 months if you had a niche market. Supply business can double your capital in about 3 months depending on a number of factors. your best bet would be to have a diversified portfolio. |
I've been following this thread for quite a while now. Interesting! Can I get just 200 crates of eggs weekly supplied to a location in Akute, Ogun State? Preferably delivered on Monday mornings? The jumbo sized eggs would be preferred. Please respond here on the thread stating your best prices at this time. |
