HIV/AIDS as a Global Epidemic=>Hiv's rapid spread through different part of the world has led to it being described ar a global epidemic.Although the global Hiv epidemic is not growing anymore.It remains at an unacceptible high leve.UNAIDS estimated that in 2007,there were 33million people living with the virus accross the world...Sub-Sahara Africa<Africa countries South of the sahara desert> has more people with HIV/AIDS and AIDS death than any other part of the world.67% of all HIV positive and 72% of all Aids death were in Sub-sahara in 2007.. Globally,there are around 2million H+ Children younger than 15years of whom 90% live in Sub-sahara Africa..There are still around 2.7 million new infections every year. |

STAGES OF HIV=> 1.Acute infections<6-9weeks> .This is also known as Window stage.This stage brings about little or no symptoms of the virus 2.Assymptomatics HIV infections =>normal CD4 cell counts is between 400 and 1600 but as the disease reach this stage,it begins to drop 3.Symptomatics HIV infection=> The immune systen begins to lose battle and thu these symptoms begins to appear such as rapid weigth loss,diarrhea,oral thrush and ulcers,shingles<a painful skin rash>,Meningitis,night sweating,frequent memory loss e.t.c 4.Full blown Aids=>now at this stage the CD4 cells,which are the Cells in the white blood cells<immune system> drops below 200 and thus chronic symptoms appear such as T.B,Cancer such as cervical cancer,pneumonia,HIV dementia,enlarged lymph nodes,liver or spleen e.t.c ..And eventually death...NOTE=>Symptoms may not be as a result of HIV but may also be caused by flu e.t.c.thus,going for HIV test is the only way to be certain. . |

HIV means Human Immune Virus which means it can be transmitted from human to human.The virus was originally identified in paris on May 1983 by Luc Montagnier.It belongs to a group called retroviruses While Aids stands fos Acquired immuno Deficiency Syndrome..It is HIV that later develop into AIDS |

donchris33: Nairaland is d best website every nigerian should know and register with, very informative, educative, argumentative and romantic. Those already in it understand what am talking about. If all nigerians had access 2 the internet and atleast upto 50million people are on nairaland, we would have taken this country 2 the right direction with all d criticisms and constructiveness that its member have been dissing here.
