Bossoflife25: The cruz of the matter is the presidential decree! When was it granted to them? Where is the document? Produce it with the actual date and we move on to 2030. Let them produce the signed presidential exception documents and we move. Simple! This your long talk na crap abeg! I suppose you know Congolese law more than the Congolese people. Why don't you produce documented proof that the said players didn't renounce their EU citizenship, or the poor administrators in NFF used Chatgpt and Wikipedia to disturb FIFA |

AAA593: Both players had dual nationality, but Tunisia alleged Cameroon's failure to follow FIFA regulations compliance. That is Joel Matip and Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting had not correctly completed their switch of allegiance from Germany. FIFA rejected the appeal, stating no breach of regulations occurred because both players were cleared for Cameroon, and both had previously played in the 2010 World Cup
Nigeria's petition is somehow different from Tunisia's petition. Nigeria own is on violation of Congolese domestic law on dual citizenship. That is conflict between national laws and FIFA regulations.
In fact, Tunisia argued that FIFA rules were broken, while Nigeria is arguing that domestic law was broken, making the FIFA clearance fraudulent.
Make I just wait for FIFA. I'm out. The same Congolese laws that allow for special exceptions, and were duly cleared by FIFA Let's wait for FIFA then |

AAA593: Are the players qualified to represent Congo considering the country's constitution on dual citizenship? Are you saying fifa should ignore Congo's constitution or national laws if there are concerns? Maybe Congo's sport ministry or whoever in charge of sport used backdoor to get those players Congolese passports. ..Is it the Congolese FA that issues passport or the Congolese Immigration, it's like saying NFF issues passports. Guinea has Guirassy playing for them despite the country not allowing dual citizenship, same with many nations like Suriname and China that have foreign born players in their side. A country has a right to issue passports to anyone they deem fit, but for FIFA they have to ensure they meet at least 1/3 requirement stipulated on their rule of which all those players have a Congolese parent My last point to clarify , if Ludacris and Samuel L Jackson who both have Gabonese passports were footballers, they wouldn't qualify to represent the national team according to FIFA rules despite being citizens of the country

Mujtahida: Is this deliberate? As in misunderstanding or obsfucating the issue? Omo. Wetin dey happen.
The issue is that by Congolese laws if you are a dual citizen, you are not regarded as a citizen of Congo. That's the crux of the matter.
You make it seem as if Congo gave people with Congolese parentage citizenship and Nigeria is protesting against that. Nooo.
Congo made the law on dual citizenship. We are judging them by their own law. According to FIFA rules do the said players qualify to represent DR Congo? |

Mujtahida: Residence permit is permit. It does not mean I must reside in your country for five years at a stretch. Such laws can easily be satisfied. Countries plan to win world cup ten years before they win it.
France did it through the establishment of INF Clairefontaine in 1988 and won the world cup in 1998. Germany set off their own plan in 2006 and won the WC in 2014.
Therefore such rich countries like Qatar can set out such a plan that involves integrating players from other countries into their national team not necessarily to even win the WC but even to compete very well. Yes, but to FIFA you need to have a clear connection to the country to represent them. If you don't qualify through birth or ancestry then the other option is through residence which for most footballers is through playing professionally in the respective leagues. The French and German players in your reference were still largely from immigrant families and born there. Unless Qatar and those Arab nations will be signing 17 year olds to their leagues and giving them passports at 22, it won't work. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Karlovych: 6:03pm On Jan 25 |
Mujtahida: Citizenship is based not only on blood but on naturalization. So yes if Qatar has such laws and I think they do, then nothing stops them from giving citizenship to people and constituting them into a team. Yes but then they need to meet the 5 year residence requirement according to FIFA rules. The Malaysia case didn't affect Ezequel Sergio Aguero and Endrick dos Santos Parafita (you can Google their names) who were both born in Argentina and Brazil respectively, who have Malaysian passports and currently play for Malaysia. |

Something from over 20 years ago, the likes of Cape Verde haven't got the memo then, but today they are in the World Cup, courtesy of such kind of players Cape Verde is a Portuguese colony and calls up players with Cape Verdean origin largely from their diaspora, their parents are from Cape Verde |

The Brazilians Togo called up on the other hand, had no Togolese parentage and didn't meet the residence requirements even though they held the passports, hence the problem |

With dis format ,na Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 or Bahrain 🇧🇭 go Dey win World Cup going forward Perhaps you should have a rethink, FIFA have already dealt with the emergency Brazilian stuff already

I can bet u , a lot of countries are interested in dis case ..if d judgement favour Congo ,I can tell u dt d next three World Cup editions most especially Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 2034, na Saudi or Bahrain 🇧🇭 go win am (all these rich Arab countries)
Them go just Dey shop for good players for Brazil 🇧🇷 or Argentina 🇦🇷 ,give dem deir passport ,since fifa won’t interfere in how Dey interpret deir constitution DR Congo issued passports to those players because their parents are Congolese, I wonder where Qatar and Bahrain will get South Americans with parents with Qatari and Bahrain origin. |

Bossoflife25: And what I am telling you is that it has nothing to do with FA! Nigeria was just simply unlucky. There was no tournament Senegal had the better players nor played better footb all than Nigeria in all those AFCONs. We were simply just unlucky!
You putting their achievement on bringing in foreign born players is my problem. Which of those foreign born has done better than our foreign borns. Lookman, Bassey, Ekong etc. You talk as if Nigeria has no foreign born in the team. Winning 2 Afcon titles in 3 consecutive tournaments is not luck, stop smoking pot. |
