I remember when i was applying for my study permit 3 years ago. I would always come to this thread to get valuable information that helped me to eventually apply on my own and get approved.
Back then, you would always see PPR stories and timelines almost weekly and people would share what they did to get approved, what dates they applied and what dates they received updates, what documents they submitted. This thread was very informative.
Today, there’s no PPR stories anymore, i scrolled as far back as i could and found nothing. There’s no valuable information anymore. It’s just this “amnotapervert” guy and a bunch of others always arguing about who’s in Canada and who’s not. Arguing about irrelevant things, spamming and flooding this thread.
Bottom line is, this forum has gone to shi+.
I hope one day i’ll come back here and see Application timelines,PPR and Canada landing stories, and other valuable information regarding study permit application.
Have a good one guys. |

JMG12: What was the reason for the refusal? a medical request or medical examination pass does not guarantee study permit approval. That is exactly my point People always assume that when they request medicals means they are done with proof of funds and other eligibility checks and that it means you’re about to be approved The refusal was for proof of funds So this debunks that myth. |

Viewoliver: Congratulations in advance! Your PPR email will drop soon. Don't panic, your visa is already approved in as much as you got a medical request.
Please when did you submit your application and where do you submit from? This is the most misconception people have about Canada visa I know a person that had medicals requested, visa denied the day after he got the request.

amnotapervert: You see, I like when people share their personal experiences about how their case went — but sometimes the full context is missing.
In your case, your sponsor transferred money for living expenses, but there’s no mention of how your school fees were paid. How much does your sponsor’s business generate each month?
Your spouse gave you a gift deed showing they were sending you the money as a gift for living expenses, which is legal and makes sense. This explains the lump sum, since it came from your sponsor’s account.
I’m sure your sponsor stated that the money sent to you was a gift, that they are not expecting it back, and that you will use it for your schooling and other expenses.
Your sponsor sent that lump sum to your account to show they had handed the funds over to you as the student. The lump sum itself is not the problem — the issue arises when the money comes from an unknown account.
I’m also sure your spouse provided their account statement to show the money was moved from their account to yours.
Yes, visa officer discretion plays a role, but they also consider the dependants you and your sponsor have.
There are many types of diploma programs offered by most colleges, and even within each program there are variations — so age is not really a factor.
People have come with a B.Sc. and still applied for a diploma program. If you have a low 2.1 or a 2.2 CGPA, it won’t necessarily raise a red flag when moving from a B.Sc. to a diploma program.
PR points with a diploma have limited chances right now, except in French, and I’m sure you want to give yourself the best possible chance for success after school.
That’s why, right now, Badadvisor is frustrated — because he’ll have to marry his 150 kg white girlfriend for PR.
Being married with a wife who is not currently employed and having children is not a red flag.
Children back in Nigeria are actually an advantage, as they give you a reason to return (home ties )— more of a green flag.
So, context is important. That’s why I said Proof of Funds (POF) can be tricky — always keep yourself in the best possible position. There’s really no formula to this, Just try and your best, then hope and pray, that’s al My sister gifted me all the money for my POF I gave zero explanation of how she makes money or even if she’s employed or her bank statement, nothing. The money was in my account for only 1 week then i printed just 2 weeks bank statement. The bank statement was 1 month old when i applied I used the same money in that statement to pay tuition fees. Had no wife (though i married after the visa was approved), just 3 siblings, parents are both dead, no landed property or even a car, just a business i registered 1 month prior to applying From this you can spot at least 5 or 6 red flags, yet it was approved. Another person may do this exact same thing and will likely be denied (or approved, who knows) My wife applied for SOWP with only 3 million gift from her mom (This was when POF for main applicant was $10K, and she was a dependent) My paychecks was only $600 at that time, money enough to pay for only 1 room ( not apartment) in my city. No explanation how her mom made the money, no bank statement, printed only 1 week bank statement, still approved. However, my first application was denied because i couldn’t fit all my files in the letter without compressing and my bank statement becoming blurry. So i uploaded the bank statement to google drive and put the link in the letter, i was denied because of that as per my gcms notes. BUT I got this link idea from a friend who did the exact same thing and was approved. |

Yes in my tracker it shows it will expire august 31st 2024 Most 1 year courses end May/June/ zubizareta: Have you confirmed the visa actually expires August 2024? To the best of my knowledge, the program ends August 2024 and they ought to give you extra 2 or 3 months after end of program. Did you check your tracker for expiry date of visa?? |

It’s 1 year My visa is expiring August 2024 So i dont know if i should just wait till august 2024 before it expires and travel I already have LOA for sept 2024 Bobomaigida: I do not know how long is the programme, if it is longer than 1 year, your visa will have a two year validity, which allows you to enter Canada anytime till the expiring date, if the school grants a deferral to Sept 2024, get a new LOA from them and send to IRCC, it just means you won't be able to travel till next year like a month to the start of the programme. |

I have contacted my school many times and they made it very clear that they cannot give any grace if youre not physically present in school after Sept 11. School is actually starting Sept 4th and they only extension they can give is till sept 11 Can i use the study permit for Sept 2024? Or do i have to apply again? Bobomaigida: Send your PPR letter to the school to inform them that you have your approval and now waiting for stamped passport. Plead with them to offer you online access to attend orientation if they have or grant you more time to arrive Canada. |

When she gets the study permit, send it to the school, they will most likely give her admission again Fogun: Hello Everyone,
Please I need help with a medical appointment.
My sister's application is completed except for her medicals (the previous one expired), She got a notification for a medical request on the IRCC portal as well as an email from Nairobi requesting her medical sheet. Eligibility is completed as well.
Her school informed her that her admission would be cancelled by the 4th of August with no deferral option if she did not submit her study permit approval. The earliest appointment she has with IOM is the 11th of August, She requested an extension with the school and was approved for the 10th of August.
Please advise what she can do, or if there is anyone who has an earlier appointment that can be swapped, please send me a direct message, we are willing to pay.
thank you |

I know of a lady that was returned to Nigeria for some reasons including that she hasn’t paid her tuition and was waiting for Form A to go through Bobomaigida: She can make payment of any amount so long as she pays the amount requested before the deadline. She can also decide to wait till she gets to Canada to pay, she will have to show the CBSA officers she has funds available to pay when she gets to the POE. They cannot return applicant for not paying, what they can do is give the person a short SP duration and request the person to pay and come back for extension. |
