Dr Muslim Omoleke, the Administrative Secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ekiti State was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Thursday, November 3rd.
Omoleke was kidnapped at Iwaraja community, near Ilesa in Osun State, along with his son and official driver on his way back to Ekiti state from official visits to Ondo and Osun States. The gunmen drove them into a forest in Ijeshaland and later released his son and driver together with the car.
The spokesperson of INEC in Ekiti State, Alhaji Taiwo Gbadegesin, who confirmed the incident said a report has been made to security agencies in Ondo, Osun and Ekiti States, adding that the abductors are yet to make contact with the INEC and the victim’s family.
Also confirming the kidnapping, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, DSP Alberto Adeyemi, said the INEC chief was not kidnapped in Ekiti State but in Osun State, which is outside the jurisdiction of the Ekiti State Police Command.

A Palestinian gunman has killed two people and injured six others after opening fire near the Israeli police headquarters in Jerusalem.

The attacker - who had been due to start a four-month jail term for assaulting a police officer next week - drove his car towards a stop of the city's light rail network and opened fire at passengers waiting there, police said.

He then drove on, shooting at a woman in her car.

After being chased to the predominantly Arab neighbourhood of Sheikh Jarrah in east Jerusalem by police on motorbikes, the suspect stepped out of the car and fired at the officers.

A separate group of police shot and killed the Palestinian, who was identified as a 39-year-old from East Jerusalem.

A police officer and woman who were taken to hospital later died of their injuries.

Arriving for a cabinet meeting, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: "Moments ago we experienced in Jerusalem a shooting attack by a terrorist in a vehicle.

"He injured a number of people. We are still clarifying the details. Our forces are in the field.

"First I would like to wish a speedy recovery to the injured. And also to say, that according to the reports we're getting, this was very fast, very determined action of the Israeli police officers who chased the terrorist and eliminated him."

Fawzi Barhoum, a spokesman for the Hamas group, which controls the Gaza Strip, said the attack was "a natural reaction to the crimes and violations of the occupation against our people".

Hamas said the suspect was a member of the organisation.

Palestinian attacks, mainly stabbings, have killed 34 Israelis and two visiting Americans in just over a year.

About 218 Palestinians have been killed during that period. Israel says the majority of them were suspected attackers, while others died in clashes and protests.

The Presidency on Tuesday confirmed that newspaper advertisements for the sale of two presidential aircraft, a Falcon 7x executive jet and Hawker 4000 were duly authorised by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, confirmed this in a statement made available to journalists.
Shehu said the decision to sell the jets was line with the directive of the President that aircraft in the Presidential Air Fleet be reduced to cut down on waste.
He explained that the reduction would not end with the sale of the two jets.
The presidential spokesman said some aircraft in the fleet would also soon be handed over to the Nigeria Air Force for its operations.
Shehu said, “When he campaigned to be President, the then APC candidate Muhammadu Buhari, if you recall, promised to look at the Presidential Air Fleet with a view to cutting down on waste.
“His directive to a government committee on this assignment is that he liked to see a compact and reliable aircraft for the safe airlift of the President, the Vice President and other government officials that go on special missions.
“This exercise is by no means complete.
“I am sure the Commander of the Presidential Air Fleet will any time from now, call you to a ceremony at which he will hand over some other aircraft to the Airforce for their operations.”
According to the Presidency, the PAF currently has 10 aircraft.

According to the Daily Mail, Paul Pogba has completed his Manchester United medical and will complete his world record transfer today.

The 23-year-old arrived in Los Angeles last night for the medical, and in what seems to be a straightforward procedure, he is poised to sign a five-year deal at Old Trafford.

Onlookers who were stunned, filmed the shocking scenes at the river beach of Tabuao near the town of Paredes de Coura in the Porto region of northern Portugal.

17 members of the University of Nottingham hockey team stripped naked to fight homophobia in sports. The team were filmed playing hockey naked, and then talking about discrimination against gays in sports in a video released last week.

The team did the video in collaboration with Voice Your Rights Project, a student group in their school whose mission is for all people "to live in a society in which every person is respected and treated as equals."

VYRP said they came up with the idea for the guys to strip naked because they knew that would get them more attention.

The boyfriend of Sofia Trinidad, the older sister of 19 year old 2014 Miss Honduras, Maria Jose Alvarado, has been identified as the killer of the beauty queen and her sister.

Plutarco Ruiz (pictured right) admitted to gunning down Sofia, 23, after flying into a rage after seeing her dance with another man at his birthday party, where the girls were last seen alive and then turned the gun on Maria because she was a witness to the murder of her sister. Three other men have been arrested in connection with the murders.

After he killed the women, he and his accomplices buried them near a riverbank close to where the party was held.

Santa Claus who was used in a lot of Coca-Cola adverts has died. His name was John Moore and he was the famous "Father Christmas" who inspired Coca Cola’s character and appeared in many ads for the brand. He died recently at the age of 86 and is being buried today in Burgess Hill, Sussex,UK.

When he was not shooting for Coca-Cola, he spent the rest of the year working as a taxi driver and barman. RIP, Mr Moore.

Anti-government protesters in Burkina Faso today set their National parliament ablaze following a decision by members of parliament to review the country's constitution to allow President Blaise Compaore extend his 27-year rule. The parliament members were due to vote on a change on their constitution which would allow the sitting president, Blaise Compaore - who took power in a coup in 1987 - to stand for re-election again next year, when he was due to stand down.The angry protesters who did not buy into the proposed constitution review stormed the National Assembly building in the capital Ouagadougou, ransacking offices and setting fire to cars, before attacking the national television headquarters. At least one person died in the mayhem.

One of the protesters said;
"We did this because Blaise was trying to stay too long. We are tired of him. We want a change. He must go!”
The violence forced the government to temporarily scrap a vote on the constitutional amendments. Relative calm has since returned to the capital city.
