Kaycipher: Anyone with overlapping start/end dates of employment experience? Can I state in my work history that I stopped working for previous employer by February and started working for current employer by January? Any law against this. Your input is appreciated |

Good afternoon, Quick one please. Maybe this might not be serious but then I'm an over-thinker so I feel I should share I had resumed a new job (Job B) in the past while I was still working with my former employer (Job A). Though I had informed the previous job (job A) that I would be leaving the company, so I had forwarded a notice to them, then I resumed job B same time. The resumption date for the new job (job B) is reading January for instance, then the former job (Job A) ending date is reading February for instance. Is this allowed? Can one fill the EE form this way or how can one go about this without shooting oneself in the leg. I understand that IRCC is not an employer but then, would this mean anything when a potential employer finds out through back.ground ch.eck that the starting date of a new job is behind the ending date of the former job? Your contribution is appreciated please, and abeg don't blame me, na the country dey cause am sometimes God bless you as you contribute |

NuCypher: Thanks for your response. There's no denial here. Like I said earlier certificate was issued by the religious institution. Going for legal divorce in Nigeria is not 'beans' and it can get very complicated. I'm hoping it won't get to that. Maybe separation papers may suffice instead of going through the divorce paperwork |

xxoxx: Thanks, but then their birth certificate carries their mother's name alongside mine, so it might raise an eyebrow later when I want to move them. What's your take please? |

ednut1: @ednut1 I see your points here. Like I said earlier, we were married before but no legal documents backing it up as the wedding didn't involve court, it's only traditional and/religious. Now we're separated. Obviously, no legal documents to back that up either since the wedding didn't take place in court. There's no "separated" except "legally separated/Divorce" in the EE form. This is where the whole thing is dicey, I am confused as to the best to select for my case. Note that I am not travelling with the 2 kids yet, nobody is accompanying me but I have to declare them So what's your suggestion here please? @experts in the house, please advise accordingly as this has been delaying me to fill the EE form |

Kaycipher: Help!!! Is it okay to choose single here please? |
![]() |
ednut1: @ednut1 Thank you for your input If I get you correctly, your first statement suggests that I can select "Single " since it happens in CA too. The second paragraph is saying "legally separated " can be chosen, then show the nikkai certificate. But then, if this is the case, I will not only need to show the nikkai certificate, I will have to show another document to show for separation. Correct me if I'm wrong please. So, which should I choose exactly? @Hamza05 I still await your response on this please Dear all, Please come in on this and advise the best option π |

Hamza05: Thank you for your response. The issue is we have 2 kids from the wedding. I understand that I have to include them. When I declare them, isn't it going to raise an eyebrow? That how come I was never married but have kids? Thank you |

Dear great minds. I commend what you're doing well. Please I need help as I cannot find anything about my case online. I am about to fill the Express Entry form and I need guidance so I don't make mistakes I'm confused as to what status to choose in the EE form as I am separated from my wife. We didn't do any court wedding, we only did niikai and a certificate was issued by the Muslimclerics (Alfas). This is where the issue is; since the wedding wasn't binded by any legal means, and we are separated, I cannot provide any legal documents as the wedding wasn't done in the court. My question is, 1. what status is best to choose on the EE form ? 2. If I choose "legally separated" whicg is the truth and the IRCC asks for proof, what proof can I provide? Please assist as this has been delaying me since cos I want to make sure I do the right thing from the start. Thank you as you help |
