ORDER FOR AN INTERIM INJUNCTION This is a scanned copy of the letter.....
|
Governor Henry Seriake Dickson has directed that the Samson Siasia stadium be given to the opposition APC for use for their rally slated for Saturday 15th -august 2015. And has directed the relocation of the National youth day celebration which has been earlier scheduled to hold in that same venue on the same day two months ago in deference to the Vice President who is expected to attend the event also a further demonstration of his political tolerance which indeed made him give the same venue to President Muhammed Buhari who was the APC presidential candidate for use during the APC presidential rally in Bayelsa. This is contrary to the practice between 2007 and 2012 when some elements who are now in APC held sway in the state wherein that political opponents and parties where not even allowed to hold rally in private venues talk more of government venues.

Twenty (20) Reasons Why Timi Alaibe Cannot Be Governor Of Bayelsa State......Bayelsa Youths Vanguard For Good Governance 1. Timi Alaibe massively looted NDDC and there are records to prove it. He started corruption in NDDC and traded with NDDC funds. If he is elected Governor, he will sell Bayelsa State cheaply. Read more at: http://www.thenigerianvoice.com/news/187693/1/twenty-20-reasons-why-timi-alaibe-cannot.html 2. During the 2002 Governorship Campaigns, Timi Alaibe gave Mr. Waripomowei Dudafa the sum of N1 million Pounds, stolen from NDDC and this money was planted in Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha’s residence in London. That is one of the reasons ALAMCO was jailed. So Timi Alaibe contributed to the woes of former Governor DSP Alamieyeseigha.. 3. Timi Alaibe is also fighting President Buhari and he demonstrated this in the NASS imbroglio. Timi Alaibe is believed to have contributed $2million to actualize Saraki’s bid for the Senate Presidency against Buhari Tinubu and Obasanjo’s wish. The dust is yet to settle but we know that the issue has pitched the Tinubu camp and the President’s henchmen. Why is Timi Alaibe pitching President Muhammadu Buhari’s henchmen against Tinubu, Obasanjo, the National Working Committee and other founding members of the Party and what political capital does he hope to garner by his actions? 4. Timi Alaibe is one of the persons compounding the EFCC problems of EX. Governor Timipre Sylva. He is doing so for two reasons. Timi Alaibe has an eye on the APC Governorship Ticket, which Sylva has been toiling hard to secure. Secondly, two of them belong to two rival cults group. While Timipre Sylva belongs to the Viking Confraternity, while Alaibe is a Pirate Confraternity. Timi Alaibe is using his relationship with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Chief Mr. Ibrahim Larmode to come up with the consolidated 50 count charges levied against the former Governor Sylva for the second time. Alaibe, who want Timipre Sylva out of the way so he could obtain the APC ticket without any serious opposition. This is already playing out. 5. In NDDC, Timi Alaibe deliberately held back the promotion letters of Ijaw people. A good example is Engr. Boniface Sese from Foroupa who only got his promotion letter 8 months after the letter was hidden. It was Pasto P.Z. Aginighan who saw the hidden letter and released it to the recipient. Engr. Sese is still a serving Director in NDDC now. 6. Timi Alaibe hates the Niger Delta and specifically Bayelsa State such that he over-inflated contract values to build his empire. 7. Under Timi Alaibe’s influence, a contract was awarded to PELFACO Limited to construct shore protection project in Okerenkoko Community, Warri South West LGA in Delta State. The contract was awarded at the cost of N317 Million but Mr. NDDC Chieftain from Bayelsa Sate jerked it up to N980 million; and this was done without the knowledge of the Board. 8. Another shore protection contract was awarded at Ogborode in Warri West LGA at the cost of N317million but The Emperor did a variation to the sum of N1.2 billion. Like a mafia boss, he placed the most influential anti- corruption crusaders on his pay role and made them to look the other way. 9. As NDDC boss, Timi Alaibe never awarded contracts to Bayelsans, he rather awarded contracts to Yoruba people, Northerners and to his cronies. One of the major Construction Companies that benefited from Alaibe’s construction jobs was JCC Jide Construction Company owned by a Yoruba man. It was because of this attitude that Mr. Ayakeme Whiskey who served as his SA 1 left him, and others followed. 10. He kills any establishment he worked with. He contributed to the looting of Societe’General Bank which they rendered insolvent. He established INTERCHASE BANK at Rumuola, Port Harcourt and later ran to London with depositor’s money. So many Ijaw people who deposited money in INTERCHASE BANK were sent to untimely death. On his return, he was arrested and detained but with the help of Late Dr. Olusola Saraki, bribed his way through and regained freedom. 11. Timi Alaibe used NDDC stolen money to buy choice property and after buying such property registered them in the names of his cronies. Few of them can be mentioned here. Alaibe purchased properties in London with title number NGL331782 at 180 Verulam Court, Woolmead Avenue at a whooping cost of 180,000 pounds in 2005. Another of his property in London at property is said to have been registered to a suspicious real estate agent known as A3 Properties incorporated in Republic of Seychelles and managed by one Sterling Partnership based in 230 Borough High Street, London SE1 1JX. 12. In Bayelsa State, Timi Alaibe embarked on projects only in his Opokuma Clan. The 22 Water Projects NDDC embarked upon in Bayelsa State did not work for up to three months. 13. Timi Alaibe made a fraudulent attempt to acquire a Doctorate Degree and unfortunately paid huge sums of money to a fake University in the United Kingdom. Many people know about it. This is fraud taken too far. 14. Timi Alaibe goaded the then Akwa Ibom Representation Pastor Morfat to steal and sell 54 NDDC transformers and when Moffat was arrested and prosecuted by the EFCC, he abandoned him. He later used his connections in EFCC to get him released after Pastor Moffat had served 13 months detention. 15. Timi Alaibe spent N45 billion at over-inflated cost to produce the Niger Delta Regional Development Master Plan. The Master Plan, which is not in use was a fraud concocted by Alaibe himself and it was the single most expensive budget item since NDDC was established. 16. At NDDC, Timi Alaibe is believed to be one of the richest men in the Niger Delta. POLITICAL WATCH pried into an old petition written by one Denilson who spoke on-behalf of a group alleged that the the NDDC emperor stole funds belonging to the commission and purchased properties in London with title number NGL331782 at 180 Verulam Court, Woolmead Avenue at a whooping cost of 180,000 pounds in 2005. The London property is said to have been registered to a suspicious real estate agent known as A3 Properties incorporated in Republic of Seychelles and managed by one Sterling Partnership based in 230 Borough High Street, London SE1 1JX. 17. Timi Alaibe also built Juanita Hotel limited and used the name Mrs Ozobia’s husband as a front. He also owns the International Intercontinental Hotel Group all in Port Harcourt and did not build any in Bayelsa State even with the stolen money. Alaibe hates Bayelsa people because he was not allowed to contest against Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha. 18. Timi Alaibe was also responsible for framing up the first Minister of the Niger Delta Ministry Ufot Ekaette for fear of exposing his dirty deals. 19. Timi Alaibe boasted that the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Akomaye was his colleague and also Tunde Ogunsakin of the EFCC were on his payroll. So he is helping to corrupt the anti-graft agency 20. Timi Alaibe was notorious for funding militants to blow-up oil facilities to so as to gain control of the creeks. Like Timipre Sylva, he funded the militants to such an extent that after pipelines were blown-up, he appointed his cronies to carry out the cleanup job thereby raking-in money from all corners. These dastardly acts were committed with the connivance of some security agencies. Rogues, violent men and fraudsters cannot be leaders. CONCLUSION: We members of the members of the Bayelsa Youths for Good Governance want existing peace and security in the State. We have sworn to oppose any violent leader. We have also realized that a leader who builds peace, erects the pillars of our survival in the future. We have no confidence in a man like Alaibe – the perfect example of a fraudulent, kleptocrat who does not love Bayelsans and the Ijaw nation for that matter. We wish to move that Mr. Timi Alaibe’s killed some of our father’s indirectly when he ran away with their money under the guise of banking. He has sent thousands of youths out of school for contributing to kill Societe’ Generale Bank. We are also aware of youths whose lives were abbreviated as a result of his sponsorship of cultism and criminality. In a sane society, Mr. Alaibe should have been serving time in jail. Our membership cut across party, clannish and religious lines. We have resolved that on no account must a man like Timi Alaibe be allowed to contest any election in Bayelsa State, as he and his followers would put our lives at a high risk. At this time when Bayelsans are eager to catch-up with other States developmentally, we cannot afford to be tolerate any evil, fraudulent and violent men whose only mission is to maim, steal, pillage and destroy, and Timi Alaibe is one of such evil men. August 10, 2015 Press Statement ‘Stop Appropriating Our Achievements’ –PDP Cautions APC …..Charges Buhari To Articulate Economic Direction The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counsels the All Progressives Congress (APC) to always be sincere and stop appropriating the achievements of past administration as theirs. The party said, instead, the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari should make haste and activate the various economic outlets which have been stagnated as a result of their obvious inability to articulate a clear-cut economic policy for the nation. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh in a statement on Monday said it is disappointing that a government which came to power on claims of high moral ground, rather than focusing on delivering its promises, is dancing around the achievements of the previous government in an attempt to make the public believe that recorded successes in critical sectors are theirs. “For instance, how do we explain APC’s spirited effort to make the public believe that the equipping of the country’s military for the fights against insurgency; the turn around of the nation’s oil refineries; and the polio-free certification of Nigeria were products of their government even when it is common knowledge that they have not been able to find their bearing for governance since their election into office. "If the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki had not been courageous enough to release those incontrovertible facts that the Goodluck Jonathan-led PDP administration actually fortified the country's military before leaving office in May, the APC would have succeeded in its propaganda against that administration and led Nigerians to believe that the equipping was a product of President Buhari’s recent diplomatic shuttles. “It is an obvious fact that before the May 29 handover to the APC, the Nigerian armed forces, using these equipment sourced under the watch of the PDP government, had already pushed the insurgents to the verge of surrender in the Sambisa forest, only for them to now re-surge under the APC-led government due to apparent lack of direction and confusion that have characterized this administration. “In the same way, this government has positioned itself to claim credit for the turn around and resuscitation of some of the nation's oil refineries without reference to the past administration that initiated and executed the Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) of the facilities years back, which dividends the nation now enjoys and which we expect will result in steady supply of petroleum products in our nation. “Similarly, informed Nigerians note with dismay how the APC administration has been celebrating the certification of Nigeria as polio-free in the last one year by the World Health Organization (WHO) without giving credit to the PDP-led government under whose watch the feat was achieved. “While the PDP well understands the nervousness of the APC and its government in the challenge of fulfilling their bogus promises upon which they rode to power, such does not in any way rationalise the resort to deceit and flagrant appropriation of another’s achievements, a thing no serious, credible and honest government will do”. The PDP said instead of trying to poach achievements to earn an undeserved praise, the APC and its government should brace up, articulate a precise economic policy, assemble an economic team and urgently commence the delivery of their promises for which they were voted. The party said it finds it unacceptable, not withstanding the reasons being adduced, for a government in a democratic setting to run for almost three months without a cabinet and any policy direction whatsoever. “This is the first time since independence that our nation has stayed without a complete composition of government for three months. Unfortunately, the negative effect of this anomaly, which has taken a huge toll on the country’s economy and the welfare of Nigerians, will be with us in the coming years. “We express this concern against the backdrop of information that unpatriotic persons close to government are already hounding civil servants for inflated concessions, allocations, jobs and other favours being unduly granted, making the system fertile for heavy financial sleazes in the absence of appropriate statutory supervising officers. “This is in addition to the avoidable economic downturn now manifesting in the abandonment of ongoing infrastructural projects, crippling of foreign and domestic investments and continued slide in the money and capital markets. “Finally, we want to reiterate our earlier call on Nigerians to continue to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari, who for obvious reasons is surrounded by people whose divergent personal interests have become a huge burden on our dear nation, the integrity of this government, the health of our economy and sustenance of our democracy”. Signed: Chief Olisa Metuh National Publicity Secretary

This is what APC wants, to cause problems in our country, he should ignore him jor, what is that. |
Its obvious that he made his money by serving the government, APC should ask Tinubu to declare his asset as well if they want transparency. Wike was the local government chairman for two terms, became the chief of staff, and finally became a Minster. Tell me how such a man will not have the funds to run for governor. |
The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has called on the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike to declare his assets with the Code of Conduct Bureau [CCB] and make such a declaration public as has been done by the President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari and Prof. Yemi Osinbajo respectively. The call was made yesterday in a press release by the Chairman of the APC in Rivers State, Chief [Dr.] Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, JP. In the release, Chief Ikanya stated that public perception of Chief Wike as an extremely corrupt individual not fit to govern Rivers State can only be given a second thought if he borrowed a leaf from the present President and Vice President of Nigeria who have declared their assets and will have same published after verification. However, Chief Ibiamu stated that he was very doubtful if Chief Wike would declare his assets as that will spell doom for him, anchoring his fear on the fact that Wike’s massive properties and assets littering the state and beyond cannot be justified by the governor who has spent his short public life as a local government Chairman, Chief of Staff and Minister. “I am very doubtful how Wike can justify his stupendous wealth in a few years of public life.” Chief Ikanya stated. The APC Chairman concluded: “This is a challenge that the APC is throwing at Barr. Nyesom Wike; let him pick the courage and publicly declare his assets or forever bury his head in the shame that all that we are hearing about him is correct.”

Outgoing Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, has dared the state’s governor-elect, Nyesom Wike, to probe him to confirm if he was corrupt, adding that he ran a transparent and accountable administration, therefore, he has nothing to hide. Amaechi spoke on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, the state capital at the public lecture to mark his 50th birthday anniversary celebration. His said: “I have been listening to Mr. Nyesom Wike and I have been trying not to reply him. He has been accusing me of corruption and I have been trying to keep quiet over the issue of corruption. A thief cannot call me corrupt. The first lesson he needs to learn is that he was Chief of Staff to my government. If I have no records, I have records on him. “One way we succeeded in moving this state forward was that we refused to probe Dr. Peter Odili’s government despite the pressure on me to probe Dr. Odili’s government, because at the end of the day, they will not ask me the number of persons I probed, but what I did while in government. “God did not put me to shame. I will be leaving office as Rivers governor very proud. President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife (Dame Patience); Nyesom Wike, soldiers and police could not remove me from office. “When I pray, in front of me all the time is God. That is why I am always victorious. If you want to fight me, you must first defeat God, which is impossible. Nobody can overcome God. I have won already”. Amaechi said Wike’s comments that he would probe the outgoing administration was a ploy to negotiate a soft-landing for the incoming administration. “Why Nyesom Wike is talking the way he is talking is that they are looking for us to come and negotiate with them so that they can illegally stay in office. They cannot stay like that. We are already in court (tribunal). “Why did they go to court to get an injunction against the panel we set up to investigate the deaths of Nigerians who were killed on election days? Why should Wike sponsor the court case? A judge gave them an ex parte order that the panel should not sit. “Luckily, we went to court and asked the court to vacate the order, to allow the members of the panel to sit. If you read the panel’s report, you will cry for us”, he said. The Rivers governor expressed delight that the administration of President-elect Muhammadu Buhari would put an end to impunity in all sectors of the economy. Amaechi said: “One thing going for you is that the government of Gen. Buhari will not allow impunity anymore. A month to the general election, they arrested all prominent APC members in Rivers State. “APC’s agent in INEC’s office (state headquarters in Port Harcourt) was also arrested as he was coming out of INEC’s office and detained for two weeks for no offence. When we won the presidential election, they released him. He was not charged to court”. On the absence of a chief judge in the state and closure of the judiciary, he said: “They tried to appoint an administrative chief judge (Justice Daisy Okocha, who is very close to Wike) for the Rivers State judiciary. There is nothing like an administrative chief judge in Nigeria’s Constitution. So you must be prepared; the fight/war is not over. “They (Wike and his allies) have won the battle, but the war is on, till after May 29. We must be steadfast. We must take our facts to the court. We must convince Nigerians that there was no election in Rivers State”.

Niger Delta Coastal and Swampy Oil Producing Communities Calls for NDDC BOARD Sack Members of Niger Delta Coastal and Swampy Oil Producing Communities have called for the sack of the NDDC Board. The group’s complaints include a negligence of duty and gross misconduct by the board. A spokesperson for the group has said that a mass protest will be held shortly, describing the board as “uncaring and grossly unconcerned for the wellbeing of the region.” Sources reveal that plans to urge Buhari to make sweeping changes to the board committee following his inauguration are being discussed. The group’s views echoes public sentiments. In a recent statement, the group (NDCSOPC) observed that “the environment and the livelihood of the inhabitants are still in a sorry state because both the NDDC and the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs have failed in their responsibilities.” “It is expedient for Mr. President-Elect to first dissolve the entire board and structure of the commission, then review the operational guidelines with a view to making it align with his vision to truly develop the Niger Delta and make life meaningful for its inhabitants.” “Besides, a new crop of board should be set up who must be made up of men and women of proven integrity and who must accept strict financial discipline and the political will to develop the area as their code of ethics. “The mantra of corruption had rendered the commission moribund saying that the commission could justify the huge investment by the central government to fix the Niger Delta.” Meanwhile a matter filed at the Federal High Court Abuja against the board is to be decided on the 1st of June. Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has commended the Nigerian Police Force for intercepting a truck carrying alleged looted items from the Government House, Port Harcourt under the eagle-eyes of the out-going Executive Governor of the State Mr. Rotimi Amaechi. Earlier, the Rivers chapter of the PDP had raised alarm on the alleged looting in the State Government House and other government institutions. Rivers PDP in a statement by its Chairman, Felix Obuah stated “We consider our position vindicated with the latest seizure of a Toyota Camry Car with Registration Number: KRK 340 AA, which was used in escorting a Mercedes Benz truck with Registration Number: LA 086 MA, carrying several items from the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt, on May 10, 2015.” The PDP had before now raised the alarm of the ongoing illegal sale of Government properties to close friends, political allies and family members of the outgoing Governor of Rivers State. The party also described as frightening illegal employment in Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori, where about 500 people have been secretly employed without due process. Chairman, Rivers State Civil Service Commission, Mr. Ngo Martins-Yellow and the 23 Local Government Caretaker Committee Chairmen are also said to be secretly recruiting thousands of persons to swell the number of Civil Servants in government employ, so that the incoming PDP government will battle the huge wage bill. According to the claim by the incoming government, some of the government-owned properties being stolen and vandalized are mainly the unregistered brand new cars assigned to different departments of current administration. The State chairman of the PDP, Bro Felix Obuah in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Jerry Needam said change of guards in governance was a normal tradition and did not mean the end of government or discontinuation of political leadership in the State. He strongly affirmed that those behind the shady deal should desist or be ready to dance to the music when he table turns.

Deputy Governor Tele Ikuru Replies APC: I have shown unfathomable loyalty, not blindness and betrayal of Rivers People trust. Deputy Governor Tele Ikuru has responded to statements from the APC labeling him as a modern Judas. The deputy governor countered that rather than selling the state to sate his self-ambition as several APC members have, his commitment has always been and will always be towards the service of Rivers State and its people. Full details of the statement are found below. “The attention of His Excellency, the Deputy Governor, Engr Tele Ikuru has been drawn to a recent publication authored by Chief Ibiamu Davies Ikanya, the State Chairman of the APC, Rivers State, through his spokesman, Chief Eze Chukuemeka Eze. This reaction would not have been necessary but for the avalanche of tantrums, half-truths and outright lies poured on his person and the respected office of Deputy Governor, which by the grace of God he holds in trust for the good people of Rivers State. Reading through the said piece, one would have treated it as a piece of journalistic garbage and one of the well known idle political gossips by somebody who has led his party to an abysmal failure at the polls due largely to dishonest financial conduct, and after several boasts of being the Omni science, Omni potent, and Omni present, and the alpha and omega of Rivers State politics. Three issues have warranted this response, the first being that he is interested in becoming the new Secretary to the State Government, the second describing him as somebody HE. Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chubuike Amaechi picked from the gutter, and thirdly, referring to him as Judas. Firstly, Let it be known without equivocation, that he has no intention, desire or ambition to be Secretary to the State Government, having, by the grace of God, been a Deputy Governor. It is hoped, that he is not being associated with the botched, truncated and unrealizable ambition of Rivers APC at the Federal level. Secondly, in the press statement, Chief Ikanya said that he was picked from the gutter. I wish to state that Engr. Tele Ikuru is a Prince and free born of Ikuru Town, the same village where Ikanya’s progenitors wandered to and were offered shelter and food by the benevolent King Ikuru. His father is late Elder Renner A Ikuru. He studied Agriculture (Fisheries Option) in St. Francis Xavier University in Canada and on return to Nigeria had a meritorious service in the State Ministry of Agriculture, from where, as a Rivers Man and later as Chairman of Andoni Progressive Union, he contributed financially and otherwise to the founding of Rivers State alongside other founding fathers like late Chief Harold Dappa-Biriye, etc. The Late Elder Renner Ikuru spearheaded the struggle for the relocation of Andoni People from the then South Eastern State to Rivers State in 1976. Chief Ikanya and his cohorts are hereby challenged to state what contributions their fathers brought to River State Engr. Tele Ikuru is a trained, certified and chartered engineer by profession (not on scholarship). He has at various times worked in Michelin Nigeria Limited, Shiroro Hydro Electric Power Station, Oil and Industrial Services, UNIPAD Construction Company Limited, Simag Construction Company, Shell Petroleum Development Company, etc. At the time of his appointment as Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture by His Excellency, Dr. Peter Odili in 1999, by the grace of God and with all sense of humility, he already was a man of means and substance. Please let us rewind to 1999 and recall what the so called APC champions in Rivers State today were and how well they were living. In serving the people of Rivers State for several years in government, he has shown uncommon pedigree in honesty, transparency, integrity, dedication to service and unfathomable loyalty, not blindness and betrayal of Rivers People trust. While, mudslinging may have become part of the hazards of our political ethos, let Chief Ikanya and his cohorts who may have been picked from the gutter and brought to where they are today, confess same to the general public and not seek to include Engr. Tele Ikuru as he is a blue blooded fine bred from a respectable background and family. Let Chief Ikanya and his co-gutter travelers know that the true Judas are those whose parents never contributed to the founding of the State, and have no historical attachment or stake to the wellbeing of the State and indeed the entire Niger Delta, therefore are ready to sell the State on the altar of their megalomanic and over bloated self-ambition. History will judge between those who seek to sell Rivers State on the altar of ambition and those who stood with the people to take back the State to its rightful place and owners. History will judge between those whose only interest in Rivers State is what they can steal from her and those who sacrifice their comfort and convenience to protect the integrity and pride of our people. History and time will be the quintessential arbiter and judge of the decisions we make and actions we take. Biobele Da-Wariboko S. A. …As Wife, Mother, Relations Relocate Overseas…Renovates Family Houses In Ghana Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi's resolve to damn constitutional provisions and hang on at the Rivers State Government House appeared punctured at last as information reaching our news desk said the Governor has commenced his final journey out of the Brick House. Governor Amaechi, sources said, had breezed into the Government House early on Sunday morning and by 11 a.m. held a meeting with members of the State Executive Council, a meeting said to have lasted way into the night. The substance of the meeting was not immediately ascertained but sources said the talks centered on preparation of handover notes and the extent of readiness by the council. Government House sources also revealed that despite the widespread insinuations within the All Progressives Congress (APC) quarters raising hopes that the court may abort the May 29 Swearing-in of Rivers Governor-elect, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike, Amaechi's wife, Dame Judith Amaechi was seen leaving the Government House with truckloads of house hold items and other valuable. The truck loads which left in droves apparently confirmed speculations of widespread looting at the Government House by Governor Amaechi, relatives and aides. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had earlier raised alarm over the looting spree in the Government House, Port Harcourt ahead of Governor Amaechi's exit. The State PDP received information that the government properties being stolen and vandalized are mainly the unregistered brand new cars assigned to different department of government. Top in the list of looters in Government House are very senior government officials including members of the Executive Council and Heads of Departments. The PDP particularly pointed at among others, the Information Commissioner, Ibim Semenitari who has allegedly transferred most of the cars and facilities used for the World Book Capital to her Lagos residence. The party further expressed bitterness over this ugly development by the outgoing Governor, calling on the relevant security agencies to put the outgoing government officials on check and ensure that public facilities in the State are not further looted. We gathered that the hasty packing by the Rivers first lady may have been occasioned by Amaechi's sudden backtracking when it downed on him that his fastidious scheming against Wike's swearing-in has hit the brick wall. “Amaechi found Wike a hard nut to crack. He saw that Wike knew his game plans and more worrisome is the fact that Wike seem to understand every move of Amaechi and the APC and always have the antidote to puncture them” said our source. Another source disclosed that Governor Amaechi's mother who has relocated to Overseas along with Dame Judith Amaechi, had allegedly threatened to disown the Governor if he carried out his threat of not vacating the Government House for Wike. Meanwhile, information has further revealed that Governor Amaechi in course of gallivanting during the electioneering campaigns of the APC, had made trips to his adopted country of Ghana where serious renovation works were being carried out on his family houses. It was further gathered that the Governor's cronies in the former Gold Coast colony are set to give him a rousing welcome as he returns 'home' after May 29, 2015.

THE Rivers State Government has condemned the protest embarked upon by a group of persons who claimed that they were owed salaries for eight months. The state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, expressed dismay over the protest by the group at the Government House, who claimed to be members of staff of the state Ministry of Sports. Semenitari dismissed the claim and insisted while the state government was preparing to pay April salaries; civil servants in the state had been receiving salaries up to March 2015. “It is for this reason that government wishes to condemn unequivocally the needless violent protest today in Port Harcourt as we have consistently shown good faith in our dealings with all categories of persons. “While we appreciate the challenges many persons face in our country today, we dare say that it is curious that this protest is coming on the heels of spurious and mischievous allegations by some persons that the Rivers State Government is indebted to its workers,” she added. Semenitari said in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Monday that the state government had continued to pay workers’ salaries because it believed that workers’ welfare was paramount in governance. “It has come to the notice of the Rivers State Government that some persons claiming to be staff of the Rivers State Ministry of Sports have been protesting an alleged eight-month non-salary payment. “While the government of Rivers State will not wish to join issues with the demonstrators, it wishes to note that all civil servants employed by the government of Rivers State have been paid salaries up to the month of March, with plans to commence payment of April salaries. “The Rivers State Government has continued to ensure the payment of staff salaries because it believes that the welfare of its workers must be paramount in governance. “In the same vein, it will not treat with levity matters concerning other staff in its employ, who while they may not be civil servants, are ad hoc staff deserving of fair treatment,” she said. Semenitari, however, expressed government’s commitment to its workers and promised to continue to meet its obligations to those in its employ. “Government, however, must verify all claims by persons who may be so employed to enable it compute what salaries and wages are due these category of persons and address the matter as may be most appropriate,” she added. The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has berated the State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for allegedly sponsoring political killings in the State, and rushing to court to stop the sitting of the Commission of Enquiry set up by the State Government to investigate the killings. “The news of the suit brought by Rivers PDP before Justice H. A. Nganjiwa of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt seeking to restrain the Commission of Enquiry set up by the Rivers State Government to investigate the political killings in the State did not come to us a surprise as we have been consistent in identifying PDP as the sponsor of these despicable murders. In reality, the suit is nothing but a self-indictment by the Rivers State PDP, which has by so doing erased any reasonable doubt that it is behind the political violence in the State that has sent close to 100 innocent APC members to their untimely grave,” Rivers APC Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said on Sunday morning. Ikanya, however, expressed disappointment that the revered Justice Nganjiwa fell for PDP’s antics by granting the restraining order sought by the murderous party. “We hold Justice Nganjiwa in high esteem and we wish to appeal to him to vacate this restraining order at the next adjourned date to enable the Commission of Enquiry do its work. We are talking of human life and we respectfully appeal to His Lordship not to create an escape route for murderers to get away with their atrocities,” Ikanya said in a statement issued in the state capital, Port Harcourt. He expressed confidence that Rivers PDP’s desperate efforts to evade justice and to subvert the will of Rivers people and heighten insecurity, kidnapping and other criminal activities through the instrumentality of the court would eventually fail. Rivers APC sympathised with the people of the State over their present ordeal, as the State is today back to the era of insecurity, kidnapping and killings due to the desperation of PDP to capture power at all cost. “All these are evils which the APC Government of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi eradicated, only for them to be brought back by the Rivers State PDP leadership. We appeal to the good people of Rivers State to endure this sad development for the few months PDP will be in power before it is kicked out through legal means,” the statement said. “The good people of Rivers State, particularly the survivors of those murdered in cold blood by PDP agents, can be assured that this evil party can only delay justice but cannot stop the avenging of the shed innocent blood. On our part, we are determined to ensure that justice is done in this matter and people who do not meant well for our State are not allowed to govern us no matter the conspiracy of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the outgoing PDP-controlled Presidency,” Rivers APC added. From TONY JOHN, Port Harcourt Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dragged the Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, and 13 others to a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, over the recently constituted commission of enquiry on politically motivated killings in the state. Other respondents in the case are the Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, nine other members, the Attorney General of the state, the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police in the state. In suit number FHC/PH/FHR/256/2015, the state chapter of the party urged the court to declare, among other things, that the commission of enquiry on politically motivated killings in the state constituted by the governor, was unconstitutional and violated the principles of natural justice. Also, PDP prayed the court to declare that, by virtue of the provisions of Section 214 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Section 4 of the Police Act, the power to investigate allegations of crime, including enquiring into politically motivated killings in the state, was vested in the police. The party also urged the court to restrain the commission or its members, from investigating any alleged politically motivated killings, insisting that it was the responsibility of the police. Counsel to PDP, Mr. Benjamin Eke, alleged that the first respondent, who is the Chairman of the commission, Prof. Odinkalu, was not qualified to head the body, pointing out that he already had foreknowledge of the subject matter of the purported enquiry, having reportedly heard allegations and counter-allegations of the various parties in the state concerning political violence and killings in his capacity as chairman of the National Human Rights Commission. “He cannot preside as chairman of the commission of enquiry in this case with neutrality and impartiality necessary as an arbiter,” he said. Eke also said the second respondent, Sir Samuel Egbe, was not fit to be a member of the commission because he was allegedly appointed permanent secretary in the state civil service by Governor Amaechi. He added that the sixth respondent, Mrs. Asivosuo Oriye, as an employee of the state Ministry of Justice under the supervision and control of the governor and that Attorney General of the state (11th respondent), was also not fit to serve in the commission. The commission is expected to commence sitting next week.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has suspected that the aides of Governor Chibuike Amaechi have begun massive looting of government property ahead of the May 29 handover date. In a statement issued on behalf of the state Chairman of the party, Felix Obuah, by his media aide, Jerry Needam, the PDP also alleged that government property were being sold to close friends, political allies and family members of the governor. According to the statement, “PDP describes as frightening illegal employment in Rivers State Polytechnic Bori, where about 500 people have been secretly employed without due process. He said information available to him revealed that some of the government property being stolen and vandalized were mainly the unregistered brand new cars assigned to different departments of government. “Some equipment for the monorail, government farms, schools, hospitals, government-owned media houses, etc have also been stolen and vandalized,” he said. He enjoined the people of the state to note that government was a continuum and that was being taken away was the wealth of the state.
