TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 10:50am On Oct 25, 2025
Good morning house.

Is there anyone that has tried to book an appointment this week? Do you know if there’s any availability in Ikeja VFS, please?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 11:15am On Oct 09, 2025
giselle237:
You have previous refusals.
Avoid dabbling into murky waters if you have had no travel history since your last UK refusal.
You would make your case more difficult.
In normal circumstances, they feel the business account and monies is for the running of the business that is why it is tricky.
Try and avoid another refusal.
If it means waiting 1 year to sort yourself out including sponsor’s accounts in my opinion do that.
You must prove origin of funds— whether yours or sponsor’s. It is not enough to present travel allowance of say 1 billion, paper evidence must show the trail and where this money was availed from.

Option 2.
Draft an MOU or legal paper signed by company secretary detailing director and nuclear family are entitled to say medicals and fully paid travel allowances say thrice a year.
Details details details on these company documents.
Mark this clause .
Then the company account can then transfer travel allowance to you because the legal documents show that this is company policy and can be proven with documentation and also that business funds are not been used as personal funds.
You will also attach this paper to your application as part of evidence. It shows decorum and shows accounting and also shows origin of funds.
If you have had previous travels and done this same travel allowance thing… reference them to back up this particular scenario.
Thank you so much for your response. Since my last refusal, which was exactly one year ago, I’ve travelled to Qatar and Singapore and also planning a trip to SA.

For clarity, the funds will not be coming from the company account but his own personal account, just that we cannot access his US bank account that has a lot more money. I think we’ll go with option 2 and draft a letter, but we’ll make sure to do it very carefully. If it’s looking like it won’t add up, we’ll just put the application on hold for another 6 months.

Thank you once again for your response, Giselle.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 7:38am On Oct 09, 2025
Good morning house.

I have a quick question, please. I am submitting my application for a 6 month visa (for my daughter and I). My husband is sponsoring the trip but we plan that, instead of him providing me his personal bank statement (which is currently not available), I would use his business docs and account, then he would fund my account with the necessary amount needed for the trip, tag it "travel allowance" and then explicitly explain all this in my cover letter and his sponsorship letter.

Is this a good move or should we just attach his personal bank statement as well?

Note: The reason we are unable to attach his personal bank statement is because we plan to use his US bank statement (Capital One Bank) but he lost his login details and is unable to log into the app, and he cannot verify his identity until he goes back to the US, which isn't happening anytime soon as it stands now, he doesn't have access to that account so he cannot request his bank statement.

Your help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
TravelRe: Giving Birth In Brazil by KaylaO: 5:26pm On Jan 31, 2025
Thank you so much for your response. I’ll try visit visa.

untamedd:
Don't bother, they don't process it for Nigerians. You can come on a tourist visa and switch to a study visa (with a Portuguese language course) or you may give the Digital Nomad visa a shot when you get here. You can weigh your options then but I've heard the process is long and frustrating and even for other nationalities.

P.S: Brazil is a great country to live if you work remotely and earn USD.
TravelRe: Giving Birth In Brazil by KaylaO: 1:10pm On Jan 26, 2025
Good afternoon house.

Does anyone have any idea about Digital Nomad visa? I’m thinking of applying for it as I work remotely with US companies. Please any information will be greatly appreciated.
TravelRe: Memoirs From Chile by KaylaO: 6:15pm On Jan 25, 2025
Hello @tensazangetsu20 can I please reach out to you privately? Maybe via email? I have a few questions I’d like to ask you, if that’s okay.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 11:58am On Oct 03, 2024
Yes, I'm not reapplying soon. I intend to give it at least 3 months to maybe allow that 25k fizzle out of my account statement and as for my salary, I have discussed with the HR and they'll add clear details for subsequent payments. Thank you for your help.

On the other hand, my husband is thinking we should write, explaining the funds with proof, but it clearly states that I do not have the right to appeal so I don't want to muddy the waters. What do you think? Do we stand a chance if we seek a review or should we just move on and correct things in the next application?

giselle237:
@kayla0 @kaylaO please be careful and arrange your documents well as well as your application form. Do not be in a hurry.
If you also feel you need time to arrange bank statements from your husband, yourself etc then take your time. You already have quite some refusals on your back, no need to get more.
Also your employer’s letter must categorically state they have no objection to your goin on a holiday and you have been granted such and such dates as leave period and that you would be expected back at work on this date.
There should be nothing vague submitted.
Your employment was doubted and you were accused of money lodgement. Reassess your situation and get every and any document that can overturn these major issues. If you do not have these, then do not reapply.
You can try other countries first and then come back to the UK
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 7:43pm On Oct 02, 2024
Thank you so much for this. I’ll do as you’ve said and reapply, addressing all these issues.

giselle237:
I believe you can reapply, particularly given your initial salary, which appears to be quite reasonable within the Nigerian economy. It is essential to address the following misconceptions:
1. Contact HR: You need to speak with HR to obtain a letter clarifying why the salary credit does not reflect its source. This is a significant issue, as it ideally should have been documented.

2. Documentation: As an employee, you should have various forms of documentation, including promotion letters, ID cards, and records of meetings or conferences you have attended in your professional capacity. Additionally, photographs at work and other evidence are necessary to demonstrate that your employment is legitimate.
3. Large Transactions: It is important to clarify why your husband transferred $25,000 to you unexpectedly. If this transaction is new, you will need to provide your husband’s bank statements and employment details to establish the origin of this substantial amount. Only then will your explanation be credible and not perceived as a money lodgement.
4. Invitation Letter: Ask your sister to rewrite her invitation letter, emphasizing the emotional significance of this trip and why it is important to undertake it now.
5. Husband's Travel Plans: Since your husband is not traveling, consider ways to demonstrate to the Entry Clearance Officer (ECO) that he will remain in the country and that you are committed to your marriage.
6. Cover letter: Now that you have been refused you need to address everything and provide an explanation as to where you think you might have gone wrong or how you didn’t realise that receiving such gift money or even ‘push gift’ money would have been an issue
Please note that this list is not exhaustive. Lastly, if your husband is to sponsor you despite your stated salary, you will need to provide evidence of his financial sources, especially if you lack a travel history over the past five years.
7. Explore your other ties to Nigeria
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 4:37pm On Oct 02, 2024
Thanks for your reply. I didn’t think the credit would be an issue because it was no longer in my account at the time of applying plus I asked my brother in law in the UK (who also assisted with my application) if I needed to explain it and he said no, so that’s why I didn’t.

For my salary, it’s from my bank. My bank statement doesn’t show the name of the sender sometimes but I notated on the statement concerning this and also made an explanation. I didn’t think I needed my boss to write a letter as I had everything else to back the salary, as was noted in the refusal letter.

Can I correct this and reapply or just leave the UK for now?

giselle237 :
@kayla0 sorry.
Unfortunately you caused this refusal.
25,000 USD is too much a sum, I mean too heavy a sum to have just appeared in your statement of account.
Salary credits can not be generic, if it was generic then you should have gotten a letter from your employer expressing categorically that they are the ones making these payments and reasons why the salary credits are not showing any specifics.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 2:37pm On Oct 02, 2024
Good afternoon everyone.

My visa was denied and this was their decision, please advise me on what to do.

The inflow stated here was sent by my husband and the money was sent out subsequently within the week so I didn’t think I had any need to explain it, as it was not reflecting in my balance. Also, my salary does not have any name attached to it but I explained that one so I don’t know why it was an issue.

The decision
I have refused your application for a visit visa because I am not satisfied that you meet the
requirements of paragraph(s) V4.2 – V4.6 of

• Whilst I acknowledge the importance of family ties and recognise your desire to see
your sister, and that your spouse is willing to provide adequate support for a limited
visit to the United Kingdom; however, it is your personal circumstances and intentions
which are paramount in assessing your application.
• You have stated that you are employed by ——
earning ——- a month. To demonstrate this, you have
provided a certificate of employment, your employment agreement, and your personal
bank statements. Whilst I acknowledge the documentation you have provided. Whilst
I acknowledge that the credits shown in your USD account match that of your
employee agreement, I note that the description of these credits is generic and does
not demonstrate the source from which they are being credited from. This then casts
doubt as to whether these funds are genuinely available to you and whether you have
provided an accurate reflection of your circumstances in your country of residence,
which in turn leads me to doubt whether your intentions are as declared in your Visa
Application Form.
• You have also stated that you have no other income or savings. However, when
considering the information on your USD bank statement, I note that you received a
donation of $25,000.00 (£18,672.10) on the 02/08/24. This large credit is not in line
with your stated monthly income and consequently damages the credibility of your
declared financial circumstances. As the source of these funds are unknown and you
have provided no explanation for this, I am not satisfied you have given an accurate
reflection of your current financial circumstances. This then leads me to further doubt
whether intentions are as stated on your application form.
• Due to the above, I am not satisfied that you have accurately presented your
circumstances or intentions in wishing to enter the UK. I am not satisfied that you
intend to leave the UK at the end of your visit, that you will not live in the UK through
frequent or successive visits, that you are genuinely seeking entry for a purpose that
is permitted by the visitor routes. Paragraph V 4.2 (a) and (c) of the Immigration Rules.

Hi,

Print a copy of the checklist and take it with you to your appointment. No need to fill/sign the pdf.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 3:49pm On Sep 14, 2024
Hello everyone, good evening. Quick question, please.

Do I need to submit the checklist while uploading my docs on the TLS website or is that for me to go with only during my appointment? I noticed that at the bottom before the part where you sign, it's stated that I should only sign when I go for my appointment, but I just want to be clear.

Also, can I mark the checklist with a pen or do I only have to fill and sign directly on the pdf?

I appreciate your responses.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 4:23pm On Sep 10, 2024
I just booked my appointment yesterday and I was able to find a free time on the day I wanted and for self service too, although when I checked last week, the date I wanted did not have any free slots. So, I think you can just keep checking over and over and free dates and time slots will come up. That's what I did though. Hope this helps.

Kunsoft:
Good afternoon,
Please how can one get appointment at TLS for self service without adding additional package.

Is it that no free appointment for biometrics again. The only one that is cheap is Assiated service appointment which is 30k

How una take they get regular self service abeg

I don't think you need an emergency date for UK visa as there are plenty of dates available, emergency date is only for US visa.

abubakar123olat:
Hi everyone, please is it possible to book emergency appointment date with uk ?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 11:15pm On Sep 09, 2024
Thank you so much. I managed to book the same time for both of us.

Jannyfranc:
When you get to TLS,tell them you are from same family. Our time were different, but they attended to all of us at the same time, no premium application.

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 8:33am On Sep 09, 2024
Good morning everyone. I wanted to quickly ask if it's compulsory to pay for a flexi appointment for me and my baby or can I go ahead and choose two separate times close to each other for both of us? For instance, choose 11am and 11:30am instead of paying for flexi times 2.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 1:30pm On Sep 06, 2024
Thank you so much for your detailed response. I really appreciate it. I'll add all these to my application.

giselle237:
Add a no objection letter from ur employer if you will not be adding the employment letter.
Let it say that you have been granted leave to travel to the UK without any reservations.
That you are expected back on Sept say 30th to resume duties.
Add ur husband’s data page and employment id or employment letter or anything to prove he will be in Nigeria during the time of your visit to the UK.
Your husband can also write a letter attesting to the above+ his joy with sponsoring this trip + how he is so happy that you are reuniting for a short holiday with ur sister and that she will be housing you. Also mention that he will be in Nigeria throughout the duration of your trip
Add any promotion letters on your sidd
Add every evidence of ur work u can gather to show how important this job is to you and why you will be returning to resume and to be back to your wonderful husband etc
Your sister needs to write a letter of invitation to you and also a notification letter to the UKVI of her intentions. Both letters must expressly state dates you will be in the UK as well as what kind of support she is offering and also saying how she cnt wait to show you various aspects of the British culture
In your visa form, do not forget to write a daily itinerary of what you would be doing
Eg
Day 1— arrival and head to sister’s address
Day 2- rest etc
Like that

Add any additional documentation if you have assets, property or investments in your name and/or your husband’s name etc
You must both add your birth certificates to show proof of relationship +/- accompanying pictures, chats etc anything to help your case
Write a cover letter to explain your circumstances if you feel there is anything that needs addressing
This list is not exhaustive
Goodluck

Yes, I am actively working and I will be attaching my employment letter as well as payslips to confirm this, I will also add my bank statement which also shows my last salary received (on the 30th of August) to back it all up. I also have a letter from my boss stating when I started working with the company but was adviced not to bother adding it by my brother-in-law. My salary is a month and I've been working with them since August last year.

giselle237:
@kayla0 or @kaylaO are you actively working? Give a range of what your salary is in usd and a range of how long you have been with your current employer
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 11:45am On Sep 06, 2024
Thank you so much for your response. I did not add that I am attaching my savings statement and my husband's passport data page in my application but I'll attach it anyway.

Cashmadam:
It would have been nice if you can use your saving account in addition to the other documents you have.

Your husband will be your ties to Nigeria. Please ensure you fill the visa form carefully and include your marriage certificate, your husband's passport data page and all relevant documents of your employment.

Good luck!
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 10:44am On Sep 06, 2024
I also wanted to ask if the TLS fee is for only 1 person. Meaning that if I'm applying with my child and want to submit in PH, will I pay 900k instead of 450k?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by KaylaO: 9:10am On Sep 06, 2024
Good morning everyone. I have been following this thread for a while. Thank you to all the contributors.

I want to apply for my 6 month UK visa this month and would like some clarity, please. I want to travel with my baby to visit my sister and her family who are british citizens, my husband is sponsoring the trip but I work and earn in dollars. I have my husband's company docs, bank statements (in ngn and usd) and my employment letter, payslip and recommendation letter from my boss.

I don't intend to use my savings account as it is a mess so only want to use my usd account as this is where I receive my salary. We plan to state that I intend to spend 2,500 GBP and I would be contributing 500 GBP for the trip as this should cover the flight and shopping because I'll be staying with my sister and her family. We plan to spend 3 weeks. Is there any other info I can add to boost my application, please?

I was denied twice 9 years ago, when I was still in the university, although I travelled with my family a lot when I was much younger. Now my circumstances have changed but I just want to be very cautious. My husband isn't going with us, just me and my 6 month old.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. @cashmadam @giselle @ashirioluwa

You have to have an application number. If you filled an application form on the website I shared, an application number is automatically generated. If you can’t find that and using your full name is not working, then I don’t know. You can email them.
