Phones / MTN Awuf4u : Get 300% Bonus On All Recharges From N100 And Above/ 200% From Rech by Kaylolly22: 3:18pm On Sep 13, 2018
How to get the bonus
To get MTN Awuf4u bonus, follow this procedure I am going to show you now. When recharging your phone, load the pin with this USSD code; *888*pin#. If you want to recharge N100, send the pin in this format: *888*000000000000000#. They will credit your account with the amount you recharged and an extra 300% bonus.

Recharge of N100 gives N400
Recharge of N400 gives N1600
Recharge of N750 gives N3000
Recharge of N1500 gives N6000
It goes like that… To check how much bonus you will receive, add 300% of the amount you recharged and your airtime amount. For airtime below N100, add the airtime amount and 200% of the airtime.

Bonus Validity
The bonus and airtime is valid for 14 days. If you didn’t finish your airtime after 14 days it will become zero. It is important to write down the date you recharged your phone, so that you will know when it will become invalid.

How to check your MTN Awuf4U balance
You can check your bonus by dialing *556#. You can also check it by dialing *123*1*3#. Either of the methods will show you your account balance and bonus balance.
Note: In order to get this bonus, you must load your airtime with this USSD code; *888*Pin#. If you load it with *556*Pin# you will not receive the 300% bonus.

Eligibility
When it comes to bonus offer, one of the questions people usually ask is “who is eligible for the offer”. This MTN Awuf4U bonus is unlike other MTN bonus offers which require one to opt in for one plan or the other before one can enjoy the bonus. Everybody, no matter the plan you are using, is eligible for the bonus. All you need to do is to load your airtime using the USSD code mentioned above.

Technology Market / LED Eyelashes May Be The Next New Thing In Fashion- Can You Beat It? by Kaylolly22: 8:54am On Jun 22, 2018

In case you are wondering what will define the nearest future of fashion, well that could just be the LED eyelashes that will light up your eyes like a party hall as you move whether there is light or in the dark.

Known as the F.lashes, the lashes are newly invented by designer Tien Pham on Kickstarter tarteki, where the product has already generated over $400,000 which was the target.

The way the LED eyelashes are designed is as strips of LEDs that one can stick to the eyelids with lash adhesive and it is controlled by a controller which you can have in your hair at the back of your head.

Powered by coin battery to supply the lights you need, the eyelashes come in different colors including bright white, light pink, bright red, bright yellow, and light green. Also, you get to have bright blue and light blue if you want.

To have them fixed, all you have to do is insert the coin battery, then connect the LED to the lashes, have it fixed at the back of your head, and finally, you can apply the lashes.

What we do not find nice with this is that the coin battery can only last 4 hours. The compensation is that the batteries are neither hard to get nor are they expensive.

The LED eyelashes have various effects:

Webmasters / How To Upload 1-hour Long Videos: All You Need To Know by Kaylolly22: 4:39am On Jun 22, 2018

Instagram is apparently one of the world’s most popular social media platforms. The app along with Twitter and Facebook, now controls popular opinion around the world and serve as a means of circulating breaking stories even before major news brands have gotten a hint.

In addition to being one of the most famous photo-sharing platforms, Instagram is also one of the most visited video-sharing apps in the world, rivaled only by YouTube.

YouTube Rivaling Instagram

For a long time YouTube has been the world’s major video viewing website where people can go to upload their footages and share them with other users. However, it seems like that is about to change as Instagram has just introduced a service called IGTV which is set to closely rival YouTube’s services.

The company reportedly launched this service on Wednesday, July 20th, 2018.

Computers / Import Reasons Why You Should Definitely Cover Your Webcam by Kaylolly22: 9:15am On Jun 21, 2018
I am not trying to become a conspiracy theorist here or even get you frightened, but the risks that come with technology, in general, is very real and one way to stay a little safer is to cover your webcam.

The first thing that will come to many of us is that since we are not popular and part of the VIPs of the society, there is no one that will bother enough to spy on us. That may be very true, but the truth is that there are bugs on the internet that help and make it very easy to access your webcam and record whatever they want. This is most especially if you visit some sites. The worst part of the whole thing is that you may never even get to know when you are hacked.

The tech and security big boys cover their webcams

This may come as a surprising one, but people like Mark Zuckerberg who understand the internet as much as many of us can never get to, have decided to have taped over their webcams. Not just Mark, it is also suspected that Edward Snowden also makes use of tapes over his webcams.

Security experts such as James Comey, the former FBI director have confirmed that they are covering their webcam.

The Security Risk

Trust me, there are many risks associated with the webcam. It doesn’t really take as much as you can think for someone to spy on you through your webcam without even accessing your system. In 2013, Miss Teen USA was blackmailed by a man who secretly spied on her and recorded her using the webcam on her laptop.

The man, 20-year-old Jared James Abrahams hacked into the webcam of different women at the time and got their naked pictures which he used to blackmail them. He hacked the computers of around 100 to 150 women.

When you are done covering your webcam, the problem is reduced but not taken off completely because you still have your phone cameras, and other things that may have cameras or microphones and you can be hacked through them. That is another bad news.

You Can Turn on the Webcam Mistakenly

Hackers can hardly get to turn on your webcam without you helping them turn it on. The way they do that is to send some links that may seem very innocent to you on posts or emails and once you do it, they will get to access and record whatever they want.

The freedom you get with it

For those that are suspecting and scared they may be hacked, there is that sense of comfort that comes with knowing that you are protected when you cover your webcam.

Webmasters / How People Are Currently Making Money Online And How You Can Take Part by Kaylolly22: 11:19pm On Jun 20, 2018
There is no doubt at all that people are currently making money online. In fact, more and more people are resorting to the internet to make passive and more steady income as each day passes in out contemporary world and you can also cash out if you take part in the processes.
The internet has been considered as one of the most important innovations the world has ever seen and for good reason, because the coming of the internet has succeeded in making life a whole lot easier for people around the globe. Businesses thrive more on the internet and people are more comfortable throwing off their inhibitions and getting bolder in their approach to learning and self-confidence because of online platforms.

Apparently, the world is changing very fast majorly because of technological advancements being frequently made by the experts and even as it keeps changing, people have also found new ways to make cool cash from it by taking and expanding their businesses online.

You must understand that the internet is a gold mine. Literally! There are too many ways you can actually make money online and in a legitimate manner too. However, you must be ready to work for it. There is no easy way out. There are many get-rich schemes which are rife on the internet now and you may end up regretting your every move if you attempt to take part in them.

So, if you’re trying to make money, be ready to work for it. But not to worry, it is not too hard making money online.

We have compiled a list of ways people are currently cashing out from the internet. Below are some of those ways:

1. People Are Writing And Selling Ebooks

This is a popular way of making online now!
There are many people around the world making quite a fortune from writing and selling their eBooks on some platforms on the internet.

Realize that as technology advances and as more and more people turn to mobile devices to derive satisfaction online, the use of eBooks has become more popular especially among your people. Instead of buying books and reading the hard copies, people now prefer to just download the digital version of those books and read them instead.

So, if you have a love for writing and creating content, you can turn that energy into creating eBooks and selling them to your niche audience online. You can even create a brand for yourself and a build a community of die-hard followers and readers if you try hard and are consistent enough.

You can sell your books on Amazon’s Kindle Program or at Okada Books. Many young Nigerians have gotten themselves some money while turning their writing passions into money making ventures.

2. People Are Offering Services At Online Marketplaces
This is another gold mine people are digging from.
It is popular a well know fact that many people are currently making online by offering their services at online marketplaces. There are many of such online marketplaces online now such as Fiver, Freelancer, and many others. All you need to do is sign up on these platforms and begin to work to make your money there after you offer the services you can render.
Some of these online marketplaces will try to evaluate you to see if you fit into what they need in their community but others give you a free pass when you register.
Like we have noted before now, you cannot make money from these sites by lazily going about the processes. You have to work to make the money. If you are lazy and expect to get your hands on some cool cash, you will be heavily disappointed in the end.
So, get up, sign up and offer to do jobs online in return for rewards.
3. People Are Taking Part In Online Surveys
This is another way of making some money online these days. This particular style is very popular among students.

Technology Market / Hanger That Won’t Let Your Cloth Smell by Kaylolly22: 7:41pm On Jun 19, 2018

Normally when a customer shops for, say, a jacket or a shirt, it’s up to the salesclerk to suggest matching items to generate a bigger sale.
But now high-tech hangers can do the job. When a jacket is lifted from a rack, an embedded sensor sends a signal to a computer and switches on a brief video showing a recommended combination, or how it looks worn by a female idol.
These so-called interactive hangers, developed by digital product firm teamLab Inc., have succeeded in whetting consumer appetite at apparel and other fashion outlets targeting youngsters in a country where consumer sentiment has been depressed for years.

“The hanger is being introduced by apparel makers who want to do something new and think how they can make stores exciting,” said teamLab Marketing Director Yota Nakamura.

Currently, 12 Vanquish and other apparel brand outlets in Tokyo’s major shopping districts, including Shibuya, Shinjuku and Ikebukuro, as well as in Osaka and other cities are using the sensor-embedded hangers.

The idea for interactive hangers came from teamLab’s experience with e-commerce websites: The clothes worn by models sold better than those displayed without.

“We thought we could do the same thing for stores,” Nakamura said. “If images of a model wearing coordinated items appear on a screen when a customer picks up a hanger, we thought it would boost sales.”

Fans of fashion icons featured in the videos talk about the store on social networking sites, contributing to the spread of the brand. At the Vanquish outlet in Shibuya, panels display female idols from AAA and Idoling!!! wearing the clothing when the hanger is picked up.

Technology Market / Smart Wallet Designed With Built-in Camera For Catching Thieves by Kaylolly22: 8:12am On Jun 18, 2018

You have seen smart wristwatches, smart shoes, smart bras, and probably smart everything. Now it’s time to see the Volterman smart wallet that does a lot of things including spoiling business for thieves.

Described as the world’s most powerful smart wallet, the Volterman is not the largest of wallets in size, but it could just be the most functional.

It is designed with basically five smart functions in mind hence it serves as a powerbank, distance alarm, Global GPS Tracker, Worldwide WiFi Hotspot, and thief detection camera.

One great feature of the Smart Wallet is that it has a Bluetooth Alarm System goes as far as notifying you whenever you leave your wallet behind. More than that, it also sends alarm signals to let you know when you leave your phone behind as well!
More so, with its anti-thief camera, you will be able to see whoever opens your wallet as it will automatically send the picture of the person. This, however, gets to work when the phone is set on lost mode.

That is not even the entire deal with the safety of your wallet. This is because the wallet has been made in such a way that once it goes missing, you will be able to track it even if it is taken to another country in real time.

What this essentially means is that with 30 million phones getting missing annually, your own can escape being a part of the statistics.

No More Expensive

Data Roaming

• Wi-Fi Hotspot will ensure you have internet all over the world when traveling. The internet cost is up to 3 times cheaper than roaming.

Know Who Opened

Your Wallet When It’s Lost

• There’s a tiny camera in the wallet that becomes active only on a lost mode. It will take a snapshot of who opened the wallet first and email you the pics.

Phones / Android Rebooting Itself? Some Common Causes And Fixes by Kaylolly22: 9:10am On Jun 10, 2018
Android smartphones are guilty of this. No matter which company you go for, you will see users complaining about their phones rebooting itself randomly. This is how I found XDA forums and started dabbling with custom ROMs.

While rooting your device and installing ROMs is not the solution, and not that easy, there are some steps that you can take to make sure you don’t face this issue on your droid.

1. APPS & WIDGETS
There are more apps in the Play Store than we could possibly explore. I am guilty of this. I keep downloading and installing new apps but forget to uninstall them. When you install an app, it downloads data, perform functions, and creates folders on your drive. This takes space and CPU power, making your phone slow.

Uninstall apps and games that you don’t use or play. I follow this rule. Any app that I haven't used for over 60 days has to go.

Update all the remaining apps to the latest version. In Play Store, I have set app updates to Auto-update on Wi-fi only. This way, all the apps stay updated and no mobile data is consumed. Go to Settings in Play Store and click on Auto-update apps.

Android smartphones, depending on the manufacturer, usually come with bloatware. These are apps that you don’t need or want but come pre-installed and can’t be uninstalled. If you can’t uninstall it, please disable it.

Remove widgets if you don’t really need them. Think weather, news, and social media media here. These apps are constantly updating in the background consuming resources.

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS also use a lot of resources. If you don’t need them, toggle them off. You can use Tasker or IFTTT to manage them on autopilot.

NOTE: I know how much you love Facebook and Messenger but they can single-handedly slow down your droid in no time. If you spend a lot of time on desktop, I suggest uninstalling them. Use the browser instead.
2. DON’T MESS WITH SYSTEM APPS
Sometimes, we get carried away. In an effort to cleanse your mobile, you might have disabled system apps that are critical to the functioning of your droid. Go back and check everything you have disabled once more. Make sure system apps are enabled and working properly.

How do you know which ones are system apps? You will never find system apps on the Play Store. That’s the simplest way to find out if the app you are disabling is a system app or not.

Not helpful? Here is a list of system apps and what they do, from the developers of Titanium Backup. Go through it before you begin messing around with them.

ALSO ON GUIDING TECH
How to Freeze or Uninstall Android System Apps Using Titanium Backup
3. BATTERY IS ON THE LOOSE
Apple was mocked for its unibody design where you couldn’t replace the battery for a long time. Now, most premium Android smartphones come with irreplaceable batteries. But, if you own a droid with a battery that comes off, make sure it is not loose.

Raimond Spekking @Wikimedia
The rear cover of your phone takes a lot of abuse. Sometimes, it falls hard on its back too. The cover might be bent or broken. This unsettles the battery and can cause random reboots.

Replace the rear cover or use a tape to keep the battery in place until you replace the phone itself.

4. OVERHEATING
Is your droid angry at you? Are you using it too much with GPS, WiFi, and brightness on full capacity? You need to let it cool off a bit.

Some droids are programmed to reboot when the system overheats. I am currently facing this issue on my OnePlus 2 whenever I play PUBG. My phone heats up and I am constantly praying it won’t burst into flames or something. So far, so good.

Kill all the apps and toggle off GPS and other services for a while. Overheating can result into auto reboots or even shutdowns.

5. CORRUPTION IS A MENACE
It is not just the politicians and bureaucrats who are corrupt, your system software can be corrupt too, but bribery is not the reason here.

If you are using a Custom ROM, try flashing a new ROM and see if it that helps. Try a stable version. If you are using the default one that came pre-installed on your device, a factory reset might help.

6. POWER BUTTON IS STUCK

The power button on your phone could be stuck. As simple as that. Reasons can be water or dirt that got inside, wear and tear that just happens or something is broken from the inside. Whatever the reason might be, the button is stuck resulting in constant reboots and harassments. Check it out.

If nothing works, you should visit your nearest service center and get your Android phone checked. On a related note, if your smartphone is working slow, you will find the guide below useful.

Phones / Signs Your Device Has Been Hacked by Kaylolly22: 7:36am On Jun 10, 2018
It’s critical that take action quickly, but most people don’t recognize when it happens. Here’s how to tell.

Today’s smartphones are powerful computers that allow us to perform tasks that only a generation ago would have been considered science fiction. The devices also often contain a tremendous amount of confidential information, including the contents of our text and email communications, as well as access to various accounts via pre-logged-in apps. It is imperative, therefore, to keep the devices safe from hackers, and to take immediate corrective action if one’s phone is breached. But how can you tell if your smartphone has been compromised? Below are some symptoms to look out for.

Please keep in mind, however, that none of the clues that I discuss in this article exists in a vacuum, or is, on its own, in any way absolute. There are reasons other than a breach that may cause devices to act abnormally. However, if your device suddenly starts exhibiting multiple questionable behaviors, or the relevant issues develop shortly after you clicked some link, downloaded some app from a third-party market, opened some attachment, or otherwise did something that you now question, you may want to take corrective action, as discussed below:

Your smartphone or tablet seems slower than before
Malware running in the background can impact the performance of legitimate apps on a device, and malware transmissions can slow down a device’s network connection. It is important to realize, however, that updates to a device’s operating system can sometimes also cause a device to suffer from decreased performance, so don’t panic if you just updated your operating system and performance now seems degraded. Likewise, if you fill up the memory on your device or install many processor and bandwidth intensive apps, performance can also drop.

Your device is sending or receiving strange text messages
If your friends or colleagues report receiving messages that you didn’t send, something may be amiss (this is true for emails as well). Likewise, if you see strange text messages coming in, they may be related to a breach.

New apps are installed on your device–and you didn’t install them
While your device manufacturer or service provider may legitimately install apps from time to time due to updates, if new apps are suddenly appearing you want to be sure they are kosher. Do a Google search on the apps and see what reliable tech sites say about them. As I discussed in an article last week, vulnerabilities in operating systems may let Android or iOS malware escalate privileges and thereby gain the ability to circumvent security features–allowing it to potentially steal your data, record your calls and text messages, hijack your social-media and online banking sessions, and wreak all sorts of havoc.

Your device’s battery drains more quickly than before
Extra code running in the background (for example, malware that is constantly monitoring and capturing user activity and relaying it to third parties) uses battery power.

Your device is hotter than before
For the same reason, it may also run physically “hotter” than before.

Websites appear somewhat different than before
If someone has installed malware that is “proxying” on your device–that is, sitting between your browser and the internet and relaying the communications between them (while reading all of the contents of the communications and, perhaps, inserting various instructions of its own)–it might affect how some sites display.

Some apps stop working properly
If apps that used to work properly suddenly stop working, that may also be a sign of proxying or other malware interfering with the apps’ functionality.

You notice an increased use of data or text messaging (SMS)
If you monitor your data or SMS usage and see greater use than expected, especially if that increase begins right after some “suspicious event,” that may be a sign that malware is transmitting data from your device to other parties. You can even check your data usage per app–if one of them looks like it is using way too much data for the functionality that it provides, something may be amiss. If you installed the app from a third party appstore you can try deleting the app and reinstalling it from a more trusted source–but if there is malware on your device, doing so may not always fix the problem.

Your cell-phone bill shows unexpected charges
Criminals can exploit an infected device to make expensive overseas phone calls on behalf of a remote party proxying through your device, can send SMS messages to international numbers, or ring up charges in other ways.

“Pop-ups” appear on your device–and they never appeared before
Just like on computers, some mobile-device malware produces pop-up windows asking the user to perform various actions. If you are seeing pop-ups, beware.

Your email from the device is getting blocked by spam filters
If email sent from your device is suddenly getting blocked by spam filters it could be a sign that your email configuration has been changed and email is now being relayed via some unauthorized server that is allowing a nefarious party to read your messages.

Your device is attempting to access “bad” sites
If you use your device on a network that blocks access to known problematic sites and networks (many businesses have such technology on both their corporate and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) networks) and you find out that it was trying to access such sites without your knowledge, your device may be infected.

You are experiencing unusual service disruptions
If you experience calls being dropped, the inability to make calls at times when you appear to have good signal strength, or strange noises occurring during your phone conversations, something may be amiss. Normally, these problems are indicative of technical issues unrelated to a breach, but that is not always the case. So, if you noticed these symptoms shortly after you took some action that you now regret, you may wish to consider whether you need to take corrective action.

Data breaches and/or leaks
Of course, if you have experienced some data leak you should always check to determine the source of the problem–and the process of checking obviously includes examining your smartphone.

So what should you do if you suspect your device was hacked?
If you suspect that your phone is infected, run mobile anti-malware software (preferably run more than one vendor’s offering) and remove any apps that you don’t recognize. If possible, wipe the device, restore factory settings, and reinstall apps from trusted appstores. Obviously, use internet security software on your device going forward. If you are concerned that the device has been rooted by malware, show it to a professional.

Phones / How To Recover Deleted Images From whatsapp by Kaylolly22: 7:10am On Jun 10, 2018
As we all know, the newest feature implemented by WhatsApp, allows users to delete messages even after they have been sent to anyone, provided they have not read that already.

That's a pretty cool feature to have as a sender if you ask me. However, as a receiver, it's not that great because you always keep wondering what the other person was trying to say?

But, as always, there are ways you can know what that deleted message was. In this post, we will tell you exactly how to do that along with a number of other nifty tricks.

READ DELETED MESSAGES ON WHATSAPP
The ability to delete a sent message on WhatsApp is like a divine gift. However, there are times when people might get a little overwhelmed after sending a particular message, so they delete it.

But, there are some clever apps available on the Google Play Store that have the perfect solution for your problems. For this, we are going to use an application called WhatsRemoved. It's a free-to-use app available on the Play Store.

To understand how everything works, you must understand how WhatsApp deletes a message that has been sent to a particular phone.

After a WhatsApp user sends a message to another user, they have the time until the receiver reads the message to delete it if they want to. The sender can send a sort of kill-code to the receiver and delete the message, even if that message has been delivered but not read.

However, there is a minor flaw in the way things work here. WhatsApp sends out a notification to the device as soon as it receives a message and, if the sender decides to delete the message, WhatsApp will do that but that notification has already been sent out.

What this app does is very simple. It keeps monitoring the device and all its notifications for any messages that are being sent to the phone. And, the moment it sees a message that was sent and deleted, it captures the message from the notification and displays it to the user.

Sound's good? Let's install the app and configure it.

Step 1: Install WhatsRemoved from the Play Store. Open the app after the installation.

Step 2: Choose the desired method of message retrieval and give the necessary permissions to the app. They include the ability to access the gallery and other resources of the phone.

Step 3: Now comes the tricky part. WhatsRemoved needs very specific access to notifications in order to capture the messages. Proceed by selecting the options as highlighted in the images below. This app needs access to Notification Listener Service, enable that.

YOU'RE GOOD TO GO
Once all the permissions are in place, all you need to do is sit back and relax. Now, when you receive a new message and the sender decides to delete it, you'll get a notification of this deleted message thanks to the WhatsRemoved app.

If you're still not getting those deleted messages, try uninstalling the app and reinstall following the exact options highlighted in the images above.

Webmasters / How To Download Someone Else’s Instagram Highlights by Kaylolly22: 6:52am On Jun 10, 2018
In case you like someone else’s Highlights and want to download them to your phone, Instagram doesn’t provide a native download button. But there is always a way.
Although no app exists currently that would let you download others' stories, we found a website that does the job – on PC and mobile both. It’s simple to use and lets you download all your Highlights in one go.

Here are the steps:
Step 1: Open the Zasasa website in any browser on your phone or PC.
Step 2: In the text box, type the full Instagram profile link of the user whose Highlights you want to save. For instance, if you want to download Highlights from @ttechbay, type https://www.instagram.com/ttechbay and hit the Download button.

Step 3: The website will load all the Highlights from that profile. If you are using a desktop, right-click the photo that you want to download and save it. On mobile phones, hold the photo and download the image. Repeat the step for all the images that you want to download.

In case you want to download all the images at once, you can do that too. However, this method will work on desktop/laptop only. To do so, you will need to download a Chrome extension that goes by the name Image Downloader.

Webmasters / How To Check If Your VPN Leaks by Kaylolly22: 5:20pm On Jun 09, 2018
A trusted virtual private network is a great tool for security and privacy, but if it's not configured correctly it may not be so private.
A trustworthy virtual private network (VPN) is a good way to keep your internet usage secure and private whether at home or on public Wi-Fi. But just how private is your activity over a VPN? In other words, how do you know if the VPN is doing its job or if you’re unwittingly leaking information to prying eyes?
To find out, you first need to know what your computer looks like to the internet without a VPN running. Start by searching for what is my IP on Google. At the top of the search results, Google will report back your current public Internet Protocol (IP) address. That’s a good place to start, but there is more to your internet connection and its potential for leaks.
Diving deeper
An example analysis from IPLeak.net.
Your public IP address is one way private information can leak over a VPN, but you can also leak information via Domain Name System (DNS) queries, WebRTC, torrents, and geolocation. To see what you look like in your default state, visit IPLeak.net. This website checks all the previously mentioned methods for leaking data. Take note of all the data you see on this page so you can compare it to your VPN’s.
Now close this site, connect to your VPN, and navigate back to IPLeak once again to see what you look like over your VPN of choice.
Not all of these tests happen automatically. The torrent test, for example, requires a small torrent file (available via magnet link) to run before it can detect any potential leakage.

The geolocation test is helpful, but keeping your location secure is pretty straightforward. Just don’t allow any website to use your location while on a VPN. One way to do that is to specify a browser, Firefox for example, as your VPN-only browser. Then disallow location requests on that browser. Alternatively, you could use a browser extension that provides a fake location to websites that request it.

The most likely culprit for leaked information, however, is DNS. To navigate the web your machine requires contact with DNS servers to help translate website addresses from names to numeric IP addresses. Typically your PC automatically uses the DNS servers of your internet service provider. The problem is that if you’re using a VPN and leaking DNS through a local service provider, you can reveal enough information to point anyone spying on you in the right direction. That’s why VPN services often funnel their customers’ queries through DNS servers that aren’t connected to your ISP.

Car Talk / How To Restart Your AC After A Power Outage by Kaylolly22: 5:30am On Jun 09, 2018
Are you a bit hot under the collar? If you had a power outage during one of Arizona’s monstrous monsoons, the central AC may not have come back on.
So what do you do?

Follow these 5 steps to restart your AC safely and get your comfort back.

Step 1: Turn off your AC at the thermostat.
Go to your thermostat and set it to “off.”  This will stop your thermostat from calling your AC for cooling so you can reset the circuit breaker.

Step 2: Find the circuit breaker box
Most likely, a power surge from the storm overloaded the AC’s circuit, causing the circuit breaker to “trip.”  So you’ll need to reset it.

The circuit breaker box (a grey metalic box) is usually located in these areas:

Garage
Basement
Closets
Laundry room
Exterior part of the home
Step 3: Reset the AC’s circuit breaker
Open the circuit breaker box and find the circuit that has an air conditioner/HVAC label next to it.

It’s OK if there’s no label. Just look for a switch that is “tripped,” meaning that’s it’s moved to the neutral position.

To reset the circuit breaker,  turn it to the “off” position (right), then the “on” position (left)

Step 4: Wait 30 minutes
Your AC needs some time to reset its internal circuit breaker. Drink a cold drink. Take a swim (probably not during the monsoon, though). Do whatever you need to do to stay cool.

Step 5: Turn the thermostat back to “cool” and celebrate
Head back to your thermostat, set it to cool and make sure the temperature setting is at least 5 degrees below the room temperature. The thermostat should call for cooling from the AC.

Now celebrate, because you just got your comfort back!

“Wait! My circuit breaker tripped again!”

If the breaker trips soon after you reset it, you have another issue you need to deal with first before attempting to reset the circuit breaker again.
