PoliticsWhat Has Dr. Olusegun Mimiko Achieved In 6 Years? From Assets To Liabilities. by KAYMANjayi(op): 4:24am On Feb 27, 2015
The All Progressives Congress, APC, Ondo State chapter has expressed deep concern over the poor state and rate of development in the state since Dr. Olusegun Mimiko assumed office six years ago.

At a press briefing in Akure, the State capital, Publicity Secretary of the Party in the State, Omo'ba Abayomi Adesanya lamented that, meaningful development has been put on hold in the state in all areas. Abayomi said, even though the people were deceived with some cosmetic projects during the first term of the Governor, the people have been put under undue suffering since he assumed office for the second term.

In his word, the APC spokesperson said, "Dr. Olusegun Abayomi Mimiko and his party members have no reason to celebrate the six years of rudderless leadership in government. The six years is characterized with pains, anti-masses policies, suffering boldly written on the faces of the people. According to him, it is six years of unemployment, forced tax, unwarranted retrenchment, infrastructural decay, economic depression and backwardness in our dear sunshine state. It has being a tale of 'The Lion is chasing the Deer' in the state, while the Deer (masses) is running for its (her) dear life, the Lion (Government) running for food (looting). 'I will work for you' in actual sense means 'I will deal with you'.

"Where is the six-lane roads Governor Mimiko promised the Akure people? Where is the small London he promised to turn the State Capital into? Why did he abandon all projects Dr. Olusegun Agagu's administration could not complete? Projects like the Owena Water Dam which Agagu administration spent billions of naira on; the Olokola Free-Trade Zone, the OK-LNG Plant, the uncompleted Akure Township Stadium at Araromi or the Refinery he promised, during his campaign for the second term, to mention but a few.

With deep emotional reactions, Abayomi lamented that Governor Mimiko -father Christmas as he is being called in Abuja- had abandoned all the meaningful and impactful projects which were ongoing before the late Olusegun Agagu's administration was sacked by the Court of Appeal, Benin.

The Ondo APC spokesperson said “the six years of Governor Mimiko have brought no tangible development into State. Almost all roads in Akoko land are in a state of disrepair; our Local Government Areas Headquarters have become mushrooms and reduced to mere looting centres; worker's salaries are not paid as at when due; Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) put in place to carter for the needs of the oil producing areas Communities of the State has nothing to show for the several billions of Naira accruing to it for six years under Mimiko’s watch; The 2000 teachers Mimiko promised to employ last year has become a mirage; Ondo State being the richest State in the South-West after Lagos, has nothing to show for all monies accrued to it from the Federation Account, common a kilometre of road has not been commissioned by this government in six years; What our dear Governor Olusegun Mimiko is good at is buying awards all over the places, sponsor PDP political meetings on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan, run propaganda on the media to misinform the public on the true state of our dear Sunshine State.

"In this modern day world, where governments build roads with asphalts and concrete, our Governor in Ondo State has resulted to grading of roads as dividend of democracy. The mega schools, free school bus shuttle scheme and planting of flowers in a major road in Akure are not what a State government should be boastful of.

Abayomi said, "Olusegun Mimiko took over from Olusegun Agagu in 2009 with assets and N38bn cash, but today it is liabilities in all parastatals, the state debt profile has risen to N85bn and nothing to show for it. My appealed to the good people of Ondo State is to remain resolute and be committed to changing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government both in the State and at Federal level, the statement reads.

SportsVictor Moses Scores First Stoke City Goal (video Link) by KAYMANjayi(op): 6:55am On Nov 02, 2014
Having being overlooked by national team handlers for the next games for Nigeria, Super Eagles forward, Victor Moses, made a statement as he scored his first goal for Stoke City on Saturday even though his team ended up with a disappointing 2-2 draw against West Ham United.

The on-loan Chelsea star was on target in the 33rd minute as the Potters enjoyed a 1-0 lead going into the second half.

However, even though Stoke City were able to double their lead courtesy of another strike from the boots of Mame Biram Diouf, they still failed to hold on as West Ham fought back and got a 2-2 draw.

Elsewhere it was Eden Hazard’s penalty that enabled Chelsea to preserve their four-point lead in the English Premier League with a narrow 2-1 win at home to local rivals, Queens Park Rangers.

Diego Costa, who was coming back after a hamstring trouble, put the Blues in the lead in the 32nd minute . Charlie Austin then later equalised for QPR just after the hour when he beat Thibaut Courtois with a clever back-heel from Leroy Fer’s cross-shot to claim his third goal in two games.

But Hazard gave Chelsea victory in the 75th minute when he converted the kick awarded to the Blues.

Also Kenyan midfielder, Victor Wanyama, got tongues wagging as he scored the game’s only goal in the third minute at the KC Stadium to see Southampton beat Hull City 1-0.

Meanwhile Arsenal climbed into the Champions League places after Alexis Sanchez scored twice in a 3-0 success at home to winless bottom club Burnley.

In the day’s early kickoff, Liverpool slumped to their fourth defeat of the season as Spanish substitute Ayoze Perez earned resurgent Newcastle United a 1-0 victory at St. James’ Park.

Nigerian striker, Sammy Ameobi, was part of the action.
