A man identified as Onuabughichi Ikwecheghi, was nabbed for stealing six blocks from a block molding factory in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

The suspect was caught in the act at about 1: am on Saturday, August 12, 2023, 12/08/2023, by the Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante, Osaa Ukwu Command, Obingwa LGA.

Anthony Joshua, the British boxer of Nigerian heritage, defeated Robert Helenius, his opponent, via knockout in their heavyweight boxing bout at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday night.

The former heavyweight champion won the fight after he handed his opponent from Finland a brutal punch in the seventh round.

With the triumph, Joshua scores his first knockout win since December 2020 when he defeated Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev in a WBA, IBO, IBF and WBO title defence.

Helenius, who replaced banned Dylian White one week before the bout, required oxygen but recovered to congratulate a slim-looking Joshua before exiting the ring unaided.

It is back-to-back wins for Joshua after his decision victory against Jermaine Franklin in April.

It is also his second victory since relinquishing his heavyweight title belts to Oleksandr Usyk who defeated him on two occasions.

Usyk defeated Joshua on September 25, 2021. The British boxer also suffered in the hands of his Ukrainian counterpart for the second time on August 21, 2022.

Joshua extends his record to 26 wins and three defeats, with 23 of his wins coming via knockout.

The Senior Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A Adeboye, on Friday, August 11, told his church members to ask God to k!ll him before sunrise if he  consults demonic.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, immediately withdrew his statement after he was caught on tape announcing that a little token had been sent to each Senator's account as they embark on vacation. 

The lawmakers went into recess on Monday, August 8, and are to resume on September 26. While speaking during its plenary on August 8, Akpabio who appeared not to know he was being televised live, announced that the clerk of the House had sent a ‘’little token'' to the accounts of each Senator as they go on holiday.

A young lady has been arrested for pouring hot water on her older sister in Rivers state.  

The incident happened at Mcc First gate in Iboloji estate, Rumulgbo Rivers state today August 5.

The young lady said her older sister has been abusing her for the longest time and that in anger, she boiled water, added some pepper and then poured it on her.

An helicopter has crashed into a residential area in the Oba Akran area in Ikeja, Lagos State. 

The helicopter immediately burst into flames after landing. 

Two people believed to be the pilots of the helicopter have been rescued. It is however unclear if there were other passengers on board.

The Nigerian Police Force arrests a man who specializes in hiding guns in different parts of his car.

In a video making the rounds on social media, the man who was held in handcuffs, could be seen telling the security agents where he hid the ammunition. 

He hid some of the guns in his car boot as well as in a discrete place in his bonnet.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state has slashed BRT fares by 50% and also reduced danfo fares by 25%. 

Sanwo-Olu made the announcement while addressing journalists at the State House, Ikeja, at the end of a with security agencies such as the Army, Police and the Navy on Monday, July 31.

The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Haruna G. Garba, has warned members of the public to desist from using the command’s emergency numbers to obtain loans from loan shark companies.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has warned, Asari Dokubo to keep his newly formed militia group away from the South East or face the wrath of the pro-Biafra group.

A pregnant woman, three children and 18 others were on Sunday evening, July 23, reportedly b¥rnt to d£ath after a fuel-laden tanker expl%ded at Ore, in Odigbo council area of Ondo state.

It was gathered that the tanker driver lost control of the vehicle and cr@hed. Shortly after it cr@shed, the victims stormed the scene to scoop its content.

Vanguard reports that the fire was ignited by a spark from a phone of the persons scooping fuel that spilled from the tank.

A video of a convoy alleged to be that of the governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, getting stuck in traffic due to a bad portion of the Benin-Sapele road has gone viral. 

According to the man who did the recording, the traffic on Benin Sapele Road at the RCC axis of the road is caused by bad portions of the road and several calls have been made for the road to be fixed but they have all been ignored by the authorities.

Guinness World Records has publicly disassociated itself from a Nigerian man who went partially blind for attempting to break a record for the longest crying Marathon by an individual.

Tembu Ebere attempted to break a Guinness World Record for crying without a pause for seven days.

In an interview with BBC on Sunday, Ebere claimed that he went partially blind for 45 minutes while attempting the challenge.

Ebere said he had to re-examine his approach and reduce the intensity of his wailing as it was causing him “headaches, puffy eyes, and a swollen face.”

A popular Twitter doctor based in the United Kingdom, Olufunmilayo Ogunsanya has been exonerated by UK’s Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service from rape allegations levelled against him by his former girlfriend friend, Dr Bolanle Aseyan. Fast-rising Nigerian singer, Olakira has opened up on how he transitioned from a gospel singer into secular music.
