A domestic servant has allegedly killed his employer with a pestle in Awka, Anambra State capital. The deceased, Chima Anolue, a lecturer at the Psychology Department at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, was attacked with the pestle when a fight ensued between him and the domestic servant. The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari.

Kyari was on Thursday granted bail by Justice James Omotosho in a charge in which he and two of his siblings – Baba Kyari and Ali Kyari are accused of failing to declare assets to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Ruling in an application filed by the defendant, Justice James Omotosho granted conditional bail to Kyari at the sum of N50m with two sureties in like sum.

Justice Omotosho added that the sureties must have property worth N25m within the jurisdiction.

Unknown gunmen on Saturday stormed a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), in Abule-Ori in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, killing the Pastor and abducting seven worshippers.

The Commander of the Ogun State government-owned security outfit, So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo, who confirmed the incident, said his officers rescued the seven church members and killed one of the kidnappers during the operation.

Director of Information and Public Relations of So-Safe, Moruf Yusuf, in a statement he made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, said the incident occurred at about 12am on Saturday, July 1.
