It's a shame that people are applauding Tinubu who has been governor of Nigeria's richest state for over 15 years without building any world class hospital equipped enough to treat malaria of the rich. When he falls ill he flies to the UK to receive adequate medical care but when you fall ill you are at the mercy of the cottage clinics that don't even have paracetamol to treat malaria.
Thank God for his health but we need to rise above parochialism and primordial sentiments if we must salvage this country. Beyond our support for this politicians we must ask the likes of Buhari, Tinubu, Jonathan and others to account for their stewardship. We must demand and if possible stop them from travelling abroad for medical care while they leave our hospitals mere consulting centres. |

The one that caught my attention is the increment of alawee, that will be great, but its still the same as returning the 4k used to register...it should be increased to 25k at least! styless:
The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Johnson Bamidele Olawumi, has appeared before a House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions investigative public hearing to answer questions on the four thousand Naira online registration fee being paid by prospective corps members.
The NYSC was dragged to the House of Representatives by the Uzor Azubuike-led Say No Campaign civil society coalition which protested against the fee.
While responding to the petition, Olawumi, who alluded to the poor welfare of the corp members, disclosed that the federal government has approved N500 as feeding allowance for each corp member per day.
He also disclosed that over N800 million was required to setup the computer registration system the NYSC is presently using for its online registration.
He explained that the fees will service a private sector-driven build, operate and transfer agreement. He said the registration equipment will be installed at NYSC offices nationwide.
He said the process was approved by the Bureau of Public Procurement with a certificate of no objection.
While noting that the N4,000 for the online registration is voluntary, he said rather than request for money to install the infrastructure, he would prefer to canvass for increment of the current N19,800 allowance being paid to prospective Corp members.
In his presentation, Mr. Ezenwa Nwagwu of ‘Say No Campaign’ called for the “reversal of the proposed N4,000 fee payment and where payment has been made, a refund to the prospective Corp members.”
Nwagwu stressed the need to “re-examine the laws establishing the NYSC that seems to have made the Director General of the Corp an exclusive preserve of serving military officers.”
On September 30, federal lawmakers launched an inquest into the controversial N4,000 online registration fee and consequently urged NYSC to suspend the policy.
Hon. Hassan Saleh (Benue/PDP) in lead debates on a motion moved on the matter described the NYSC policy as “insensitive and exploitative”.

Yes, was listening to it on the radio with mazino, and heard nigerians speak, believe me they all made sense, because, how do you stable an economy that in itself the leaders are not stable? Enough is never enough.the solution to stability is To start all over again and build our nation on stable foundation, placing christ first in all we do, then we will se how stabilized we will be. How do we do that u may ask, employ young gurus like us that still have the ability to think, unlike some old leaders that with one thought, their brains are going into shock, young chaps that can inovate should be in power or leading position where we can turn things around... |

Supreme court sacks Delta lawmaker, orders salary refund.
The Supreme Court on Friday sacked a member of the Delta State House of Assembly representing Ugelli North Constituency II, Mr. Edoja Akpodiete.
The apex court ordered him to refund to the state coffers all the salaries and allowances he had collected since he had been occupying the seat since 2011.
It was the first time the Supreme Court would be ordering any person to refund the money earned from office that he or she illegally occupied.
In its lead judgement delivered by Justice Walther Onnoghen, the Supreme Court ordered that Mr. Jenkins Gwede of the Democratic Peoples Party to take over the seat from Akpodiete.
The court held that the Independent National Electoral Commission had wrongfully issued the certificate of return to Akpodiete even when it was aware that he had ceased to be the sponsored candidate of the Democratic Peoples Party over 45 days before the state House of Assembly election was conducted on April 26, 2011.
The apex court described INEC’s action as worrisome and therefore awarded a cost of N650,000 each against the electoral body and Edoja.
The court affirmed the documents tendered by Gwede’s lawyer, Mr. Ikhide Ehighelua, showing that the DPP had notified INEC of its choice of Gwede as its candidate after Akpodiete formally withdrew from the election and the party returned the N2m he paid for nomination form to him.
Justice Onnoghen held that the INEC had “foisted on the electorate of Ugelli North Constituency II of Delta State House of Assembly a pretender to the seat who not only withdrew from the election in writing but collected the deposit he paid to the 4th respondent (DPP) for the said election.”
It therefore ordered that the 1st respondent (INEC) to issue the appellant with a certificate of return in respect of the House of Assembly election held on April 26, 2011.
A Federal High Court in Asaba had dismissed Gwede’s case in a judgement delivered on June 27, 2012 for lack of jurisdiction to entertain the matter because it was election related.
Through his lawyer, Mr. Ikhide Ehighelua, Gwede had appealed to the Court of Appeal in Benin which in its judgement delivered on May 22, 2013 had resolved the issues raised in his favour but refused to make any consequential order.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday finally declared interest in contesting the 2015 presidential election.
He told Peoples Democratic Party leaders at the Presidential Villa, Abuja that he would procure nomination form of the party before the deadline.
He has also set up a presidential declaration committee saddled with the responsibility of coming up with a formal programme for his declaration.
The committee is headed by a former Minister of Defence, Dr. Haliru Bello.
