TravelRe: Lagos And Port Harcourt Which Is Better by kelesty: 12:32am On Apr 28, 2020
i live in port-harcourt,and have visited lagos numerous times, and so i'm in a good position to advice you.lagos and port-harcourt provides you with the same oppurtunities(though port-harcourt gives you 70% of what lagos would give),i would advice you 2 move to port-harcourt,not just in the oil industry(a mistake most people make),there are over 3million people in port-harcourt(the market is large),you don't wake up by 4am to beat any traffic(there is traffic,nt like in lagos),crime in the city is low, since GEJ came into power ,electricity output has increased drastically, there relaxating spots in the city, where u can chill out with family or friends(jst like in lagos).infcat port-harcourt is a mini-lagos,minus the stress.
This is not totally true. The OP wants to start life and huzzle where are d cheap houses in PH compared to Lagos? Where are d schools, health care service and markets as compared to Lagos? Talking about security I laugh u in Chinese PH safe! Stressful yes ur on point. Buzz yes ur on point after u loan him money for rent. Electricity yes again ur on point only few places like orazi, agip etc..
CareerRe: Living And Working In Lagos Vs. Living And Working In Port Harcourt by kelesty: 12:15am On Apr 28, 2020
Am reading these post in 2020 wished I read it before I relocated to PH from Lagos. My view is as follows

1. Most pple compare Lagos( a state if not a country: lagosians know what I mean) to PH(a city)

2. From d above Value of rent in PH is relatively far more expensive than Lagos. B/c u have few options: in Lagos "shoe get size" everywhere is developed u can decide to drive from ikorodu to d island etc... Don't forget that Lagos State also has d most expensive places to live not just in Nigeria but on Earth. PH on d average is more expensive with little or no choice.

3. Security: the population in Lagos is overwhelming. But yet d crime rate of intimidation by anyone as omonile or "our land"( as it is in PH and most parts of Rivers State) is low compared to Lagos. In Lagos there is nothing like na "our land" even d omonile Boyz are usually from d royal family during land buying. Cultism clash and level of intimidation in PH(a city) is almost higher or equal to Lagos(a state). Little wonder why lots of companies are relocating. They will come to close down ur buss at every little success they feel ur making. They will force u to employ them yet they will sell the same work or refuse to work. Sorry to say guy but truth be told PH isn't secured ask the international community or even d buss organization. Lagos State doesn't care who u are just pay ur taxes and ur a Lagosians free to do ur buzz without any harrasement.

4. Cost of living: (feeding nd transportation):- while u have some cheap markets in PH like oilmill, okoro nd mile3 the choices are limited again compared to Lagos State as a whole: note d Lagos market is free and very competitive these pushes the price very very low. Trucks entering on daily basis from every part of d country and even outside d country to Lagos. I bet dat garri in PH is expensive than my iyanuba market where I buy sweet pinapples for as low as #30(yes #30).

Transportation is also relatively cheap when u compare the distance u cover with different modes of transportation to suit ur class, u don't have much of a choice to make in PH. Remember d days of "molowel" u can go by coaster bus, vanagon, danfo, taxi,Keke, okada. PH uses mainly taxi, few coaster bus but cleaner than d rugged coaster used in Lagos, few buses and Keke just like Lagos. Hence on d average PH is again more expensive. I forgot to add dat in Lagos u can "lap" ur wife in d molowel without shame or harrasement, my brother u there not try laping a child of 10years in PH.

5. Huzzle and buzz: Lagos can be said to be relatively more stressful and difficult where u have to leave ur home sometimes by 4:30-5am and then return by 12midnight due to traffic. Infact most times u are forced to Leave ur car and go with public transport even with d high level of road networks bridges and flyover almost every where. PH has it's own share of traffic but them they learn work for where iyanuba volks or Aja hold up dey. Hence PH has less stress level than Lagos.

6. Best place to make money:- for buzz PH is better u have less competitors compared to Lagos and u can increase ur price as u wish b/c u dey pay very high rent. And d pple are used to paying high for everything. If u depend on Salary my brother Lagos is by no means far better than PH.

All the same if u have ur own house and u have finished sending ur kids to school or they are schooling outside PH then PH is better than Lagos but if ur just starting life, wish to spend less and save more and huzzle then Lagos is d best stage for you.

Buy Cheap Genuine native lands in Portharcourt igbo-etche @ 800k.

"Don't wait to buy land, Buy land and wait" watch your ROI grow. Do you know each time you stay in a rented apartment you pay the school fees of your landlords kids, you pay their electricity bills, you develop their houses and most especially you help them increase their own ROI (Return On Investment) yet you will never have peace of mind.

Igbo-etche is one of the new few places in Portharcourt where you can buy cheap lands a little below #1million in some areas while some are above #3million. The Town has good roads (see govt Wike nd V.P Osinbanjo commissioning of igbo etche road), electricity.

The worst place to be a tenant in Nigeria is Portharcourt. Buy direct from the land owners (natives). As at 2016, most expensive lands where sold in igbo etche for #500k but today those same land goes for over 3million.

Stop being a Tenant become a Landlord in Portharcourt it starts with a

its wortghy to note that the truth can still be said clearly without insults. my frnd ur a rear gem and i tell you ur crown awaits you. i too have applied and written so many FG Jobs some i was not even shortlisted but then i kept on pressing harder and am still pressing.
Yes to God be the glory i was appointed by NIS after PTDF, NLNG, NNPC, NDDC and FAAN (that did not even invite me, yet i studied transport). one point that have kept me going and still keeps me going is knowing that i was or not selected is not because i did better or worst but because other favourable and unfavourable factors worked yet i know i must keep on improving.

phetty:
Good day to y'all... For the past one week, I've been enjoying the reactions and counter-reactions here from different people. But in my own opinion, I'd like to make some comments on the just concluded NIS recruitment.

From my experience in different recruitment processes I've partaken in, I could say this process wasn't properly organised. A recruitment exercise often has 3 stages: application, aptitude test, and interview stages.

To make transition from the application to the aptitude test stage, it greatly depends on LUCK. Candidates are often RANDOMLY SELECTED from the application pool to partake in the test. In this transition, largest number of candidates is normally dropped.

Your progress from the test stage to the interview stage should depend SOLELY on your SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE in the test. This transition also see larger number of candidates being dropped based on the set cut-off mark. This is where NIS has got it wrong. Their cut off mark was too low; hence, much candidates were shortlisted for interview. Out of 43k candidates who did the test, around 34k were invited for interview. This is damn ridiculous!

Another flaw I saw in the process was the interview stage. Interview is designed to ascertain the personality of potential employee and decide if they fit into the system of the company/organisation. The truth is NIS didn't interview us, they only verified our documents. Normally for a candidate to succeed in interview, he/she must have put up a SATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE. Hence, you could then conclude the selection was based on MERIT.

So, the NIS process was poorly designed. To those that were finally selected, I say a BIG CONGRATULATION to y'all. Believe me or not, you were not selected on MERIT, but on LUCK.

And to those that weren't selected, you were just UNLUCKY. Don't think you're not employable; your name wasn't just amongst the LUCKY RANDOMLY PICKED names.
Yes I agree with u. dat I did not merit it. but I was not also lucky but rather I wld say I was Favoured! by GOD whose name is JEHOVAH.

Hello brother, FAAN did it. Applicants CBT was made known to them just immediately after the test. The score must not be pasted online, but to our various mails. What's the essence of our e-mail accounts with them? Is't to receive regret mail after all we went through? Not talking of the resources, energy n time exerted, i also had to give myself assurance of getting this job. But all hope is not lost though. Still waiting for more list!
My brother were u more qualified than pple Not shortlisted for CBT, Did u ask for reason y dey were not also invited! note u dat d CBT, Interview or physical fittness were not d only criteria used.
e.g pple belived dat FRENCH or any international language wld b a straight win. but mny of my frnds newlly on our wattsapp group ar not even speaking french. dey hav to tourch every area.

My dear, all these will not get us anywhere...what do you expect when you have 24,000+ eligible and maybe fit candidates and just 2,000 has to be chosen? A lot of peeps on here already testified that it is just God and not man that did it for them, why not accept that this isn't your time, and move on...@times we are so blinded by what we want that we fail to recognise when God is @work...

To the shortlisted, we thank God
To others, we still thank God
brother am humbled by ur act of reasoning. sincerely I dnt know of others but I must tell u I did not even know a cleaner that works with the immigration. And most of the pple in d group we just startd have said d same thing and I belive them!.
C up until now am teaching in a primary school nd paid 15k, a graduate nd have a double degree a 2:1 but hav being writing nd writing beliving God. Dis very year NLNG, NNPC nd now NIS. I can testify for dis process concerning me.
Remember in d first place did u ask ur self y u were even shortlisted for CBT over 650,000 and shortlisted for interview over 24,000. God is preparing something better for pple only belive and move on.

If only they can tell us the criteria for selection for CBT,scores and cut-off of our CBT,scores for Interview performance and final appointment shortlist then we would know that it was really a fair process. I just think people who finally saw their names on their list were just lucky, its not that they are more qualified than those who were not finally selected...
poster you are very correct. the process was free and fair but I must confess I was just lucky to be granted GODS Favour not by my performance.
Infact GODs favour started when we were all shorlisted for the CBT. I give him all the Glory! u should do d same b/c he has a better plan for u.
